Manipulating electromagnetic wave propagation, absorption and polarization with metamaterials 利用超材料控制电磁波的传播、吸收和极化

We present the application of metamaterials to the manipulation of the electromagnetic (EM) wave propagation. There examples will be reported including asymmetric EM wave propagation, switchable dual band EM absorption, and polarization modulation, all of which are based on particularly designed metamaterial slabs with thickness much less than the wavelength. The examples demonstrate the significant ability of metamaterial for EM wave manipulation.

Study on design parameters of waveguide polarizer for satellite communication 卫星通信波导偏振器设计参数研究

In thesis, we analyze operation theory of iris polarizer for satellite-communication and suggest design parameters. We compare theoretical values and simulated values(commercial software), and propose the phase difference according to each design parameters changes.

MIMO radar: Analysis of SNR, beamwidth and sidelobe level MIMO雷达:信噪比、波束宽度和旁瓣电平分析

MIMO radar provides improvements in different system parameters but suffers from SNR and sidelobe level (SLL) degradation. It is shown in this paper that the improvement in beamwidth for fully filled transmit-receive array is achievable only if degradation in peak SLL is acceptable. It is also shown that improvement in beamwidth becomes evident only for sparse array at transmit-receive. SNR degradation for different configurations are also evaluated and it is shown that the same can not be compensated fully by increasing Time-on-Target (TOT). Hence the process of parameter improvements is generally a tradeoff and this paper brings out the interdependence that exist while making such tradeoff.

Analysis of sea clutter fractal property and target detection based on fit error 海杂波分形特性分析及基于拟合误差的目标检测

Detrended fluctuation analysis is adopted to research the fractal scaling property of sea clutter. Analysis results show that scale crossover exists and it is due to the discrepancy in correlation properties of sea clutter at different scales. The fit error to linear curves between sea clutter and target bins differs, which enables the effective detection of targets within sea clutter. Detection performance with real data validates the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Low profile cavity backed antennas based on substrate integrated waveguide technology 基于基板集成波导技术的低轮廓腔背天线

A series of low profile cavity backed antennas (CBAs) based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology developed in the Key Laboratory of RF Circuits & System of Ministry of Education, Hangzhou Dianzi University has been reviewed in this paper. These linearly and circularly polarized antennas and their performance improved methods such as bandwidth enhancement and size reduction have been presented. These novel antennas retain the advantage of conventional metallic cavity backed antenna, including high gain, high front-to-back ratio, and low cross polarization level, and also keep the advantage of microstrip antenna including low profile, light weight, low fabrication cost, and easy integration with planar circuit.

CE-ADI-FDTD method for active photonic device simulation with semiconductor/solid-state media 半导体/固态介质有源光子器件模拟的CE-ADI-FDTD方法

This paper presents a complex-envelope (CE) alternating-direction-implicit (ADI) finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method to treat light-matter interaction self-consistently with electromagnetic field evolution for efficient simulations of active photonic devices. The active medium (AM) is modeled using an efficient multi-level system of carrier rate equations. To include AM in the CE-ADI formulation, a 1st-order differential system composed of CE fields in AM is first set up. The system sub-matrices are then determined and used in an efficient ADI splitting formula. From microdisk laser simulations, the proposed method is shown to consume 22% of the explicit FDTD CPU time.

Efficient radiating omnidirectional loops for collocated polarization diversity MIMO dipoles 并置极化分集MIMO偶极子的高效辐射全向环路

Design and implementation of efficient radiating omnidirectional loops have been studied. A modified shielded loop with four feeding sections has been proposed. Measured results show that good impedance matching, omnidirectional radiation pattern, and good radiation efficiency have been achieved. A combination of the proposed loop and a half-wavelength E-dipole in a collocated position has also been examined. Extremely low correlation achieved indicates that this antenna can be used as a reference for evaluating the MIMO performance of future collocated polarization diversity based antennas, and a measurement antenna for measuring the polarization at the mobile as well.

Embedded metallic nanoparticles for on-chip infrared detection 用于片上红外探测的嵌入式金属纳米颗粒

Conventional silicide Schottky barrier photodetector suffers from low responsivity due to the low emission probability of photoexcited hot carriers from the silicide layer to the Si layer. The photoexcited carriers in metallic nanoparticle may have large emission probability because they meet the metal/Si interface at all directions. Moreover, the light absorption by the metallic nanoparticles may also be dramatically enhanced due to excitation of localized surface plasmon resonance. A proof-of-concept detector based on the embedded Ni silicide nanopaticles are fabricated using standard CMOS technology. It exhibits a peak responsivity of ~30 mA/W and a 3-dB bandwidth of ~6 GHz. The approaches to improve the performance are addressed.

A polarisation reconfigurable circular polarised (CP) antenna for GPS application is designed and built using four photoconductive switches. By controlling the ON/OFF state of each of the four photoconductive switches on patch antenna, the polarisation of antenna can be switched from linear (LP) to CP, and from left hand CP (LHCP) to right hand CP (RHCP).

Mainlobe interference suppression based on large aperture auxiliary array 基于大孔径辅助阵列的主瓣干扰抑制

In this paper, a new technology of mainlobe interference suppression for radar system is proposed based on large aperture auxiliary array. The geometry of auxiliary array is firstly designed, and then two adaptive beamforming methods are presented respectively. In method one, the interference received by the auxiliary array is utilized to cancel the mainlobe interference of main radar based on the rule of Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE). In method two, the auxiliary array and the main radar are combined to construct one whole phased antenna array to suppress the mainlobe interference of main radar based on the rule of Maximum Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (MSINR), which can not only suppress the mainlobe interference effectively but also improve significantly the gain of target. The simulations are carried out to illustrate the performance of proposed methods.
本文提出了一种基于大孔径辅助阵列的雷达系统主瓣干扰抑制新技术。首先设计了辅助阵的几何形状,然后分别提出了两种自适应波束形成方法。方法一是基于最小均方误差(MMSE)规则,利用辅助阵接收到的干扰抵消主雷达的主瓣干扰。方法二是根据最大信噪比(MSINR)原则,将辅助阵与主雷达组合成一个完整的相控阵来抑制主雷达的主瓣干扰,既能有效抑制主瓣干扰,又能显著提高目标增益。通过仿真验证了所提方法的性能。
