2.4 GHz single anchor node indoor localization system with angle of arrival fingerprinting 2.4 GHz单锚节点到达角指纹室内定位系统

Location prevails as a piece of crucial information for decision-making processes. Whereas positioning in outdoor environments can be mainly attributed to Global Navigation Satellite Systems, no single technology can be appointed for accurate indoor localization. Many approaches exist, mostly relying on line-of-sight propagation from a mobile node to multiple anchor nodes. These solutions not only require complex installations, but in many cases they also make inapplicable assumptions about indoor environments. This paper investigates an indoor localization system with a single anchor node, estimating the position of an omnidirectional mobile transmitter by fingerprinting angle of arrival data. Measurements were taken with a 10-elements uniform linear antenna array at a 2.47 GHz carrier frequency. Three different scenarios were defined for the evaluation of localization errors and the influence of spatial smoothing, a technique for signal decorrelation.

A greedy approach for resource allocation in Virtual Sensor Networks 一种贪婪的虚拟传感器网络资源分配方法

Virtual Sensor Networks (VSNs) envision the creation of general purpose wireless sensor networks which can be easily adapted and configured to support multifold applications with heterogeneous requirements, in contrast with the classical approach of wireless sensor networks vertically optimized on one specific task/service. The very heart of VSNs' vision is the capability to dynamically allocate shared physical resources (processing power, bandwidth, storage) to multiple incoming applications. In this context, we tackle the problem of optimally allocating shared resources in VSNs by proposing an efficient greedy heuristic that aims to maximize the total revenue out of the deployment of multiple concurrent applications while considering the inherent limitations of the shared physical resources. The proposed heuristic is tested on realistic network instances with notable performances in terms of execution time while keeping the gap with respect to the optimal solution limited (below 5% in the tested environments).

Cooperation in neighbor discovery 邻居发现的合作

Neighbor discovery is a fundamental task in wireless networks in order to find potential communication partners, discover services, and to efficiently access the wireless resource. In this paper we focus on the passive neighbor discovery in multi-channel environments. We present different discovery approaches with low computational complexity that utilize cooperation between devices by exchanging discovery results in order to improve the discovery process. Furthermore, we present an optimized discovery approach that uses multiple transceivers and evaluate the bounds on the performance under idealized conditions. We analyze the impact of different network parameters such as number of channels and number of neighbors on the discovery times of the developed approaches by using a simulative evaluation. By putting the discovery times achievable with the cooperative or “gossiping” approaches into perspective with the multi-transceiver results, we can quantify the value of cooperation in terms of numbers of transceivers.

A new simplified widely linear iterative equalizer for SC-FDE systems is presented in this paper. The proposed equalizer does not require the computation of the correlation coefficient of the symbol decisions after the first iteration of the equalizer, reducing its complexity. It also has almost the same error performance of its more complex version.

Exploiting reciprocal channel estimations for jamming to secure wireless communications 利用互易信道估计干扰以保护无线通信

The work in this manuscript proposes to enhance the secrecy level of wireless systems through the use of a jamming technique that uses uncorrelated reciprocal channel estimations from the legitimate channel as a common random source to select discrete jamming signals in both sides of the legitimate link. After that selection, these jamming signals are combined with data at the legitimate transmitter, being posteriorly canceled at legitimate receiver. In order to improve the secrecy level of the proposed scheme, an algorithm that efficiently combines data with discrete jamming signals is also developed. The comparison of the scheme proposed in this manuscript with a jamming technique discussed in [13], allowed to verify that the proposed scheme achieves a level of secrecy that does not fall to zero with the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) increase, instead it saturates in a positive level becoming independent of the power conditions. The results have also showed that making an efficient selection of the jamming signals that will be combined with data, the level of secrecy can be further improved.

A traffic-aware solution for green Wireless Video Sensor Networks 绿色无线视频传感器网络的交通感知解决方案

The growth of the IP cameras market, due to their low price and high availability, is making Wireless Video Sensor Networks (WVSNs) attractive. In a mesh, multi-hop video surveillance scenario Wi-Fi is the enabling technology for WVSNs, due to its flexibility and low cost. However, WVSNs still suffer from bad performance, throughput unfairness, and energy inefficiency. Previously, we proposed FM-WiFIX+, a holistic solution to address the problem. FM-WiFIX+ uses FM radio to signal when a video sensor should turn its IEEE 802.11 interface OFF, thus saving energy. Herein, we present a new traffic-aware version of FM-WiFIX+. The results obtained through numerical, simulation, and experimental evaluation demonstrate that the new version can achieve savings in energy consumption up to 84 %, while maintaining the levels of performance and throughput fairness.

Energy efficiency in sleep mode for 5G femtocells 5G飞蜂窝睡眠模式下的能量效率

Energy efficiency is a major requirement for next generation mobile networks both as an end to reduce operational expenses and to increase the systems' ecological friendliness. Another integral part of 5G networks is the increased density of the deployment of small radius base stations, such as femtocells. Based on the design principle that demands a system to be active and transmitting only when and where it is needed, we evaluate the energy savings harvested when sleep mode techniques are enforced in dense femtocell deployments. We present our novel variations of sleep mode combined with hybrid access strategies and we estimate capacity and energy benefits. Our simulations show significant advantages in performance and energy efficiency.

In safety critical applications wireless technologies are not widely spread. This is mainly due to reliability and latency requirements. In this paper a new wireless architecture is presented which will allow for customizing the latency and reliability for every single participant within the network. The architecture allows for building up a network of inhomogeneous participants with different reliability and latency requirements. The used TDMA scheme with TDD as duplex method is acting gentle on resources. Therefore participants with different processing and energy resources are able to participate.

On the prediction of electric vehicles energy demand by using vehicular networks 基于车联网的电动汽车能源需求预测研究

In this paper, we propose a comprehensive architecture based on vehicular communication technologies, considering vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications. In addition, we present a study about EVs charging load. Our proposal addresses three main issues: (i) knowledge of the number of vehicles that are going to recharge their batteries at a particular point and instant, (ii) knowledge of the available charging points, and (iii) predicting the electricity demand. Results show that our system is able to predict the electricity requirements of the EVs that are expected to recharge their batteries up to 180 minutes in advance.

Data-driven faulty node detection scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks 数据驱动的无线传感器网络故障节点检测方案

In this paper, a faulty node detection scheme with a hybrid algorithm using a Markov chain model that performs collective monitoring of wireless sensor networks is proposed. Mostly wireless sensor networks are large-scale systems, heavily noised, and the system workload is unfairly distributed among the master node and slave nodes. Hence, the master node may not easily detect a faulty slave node. In this paper, a more accurate faulty node detection scheme using a Markov chain model is investigated. Each slave node's condition can be divided into three states by probability calculation: Good-,Warning-, and Bad-state. Using this information, the master node can predicts the area in which an error frequently occurs. Simulation results show that the proposed method can improve the reliability of faulty node detection and the miss detection rate for a Wireless Sensor Networks.
