Most of the enormous amount of information from the internet is available just like web pages made for a human reader. They don't have any common interface for accessing, searching or browsing the data. Hence, it's hard to extract the semantic data from the web, categorize them and keep them updated.

Representation, handling and recognition of mathematical objects: State of the art 数学对象的表示、处理和识别:最新进展

Mathematical language was developed by mathematicians in order to facilitate mathematical knowledge communication. It will be more interesting if we can use the same language for the human - machine communication. This requires an adequate representation, manipulation and recognition of the two dimensional structure of mathematical notation between human and machine. In this paper, we try to define, present, and modify mathematical objects. It presents a short review on standards and systems of presentation, engineering and approaches of physical and logical segmentations, detection systems and methods of mathematical objects isolated or inserted in text, structures and methods of representation for different recognition approaches. We focus on the description of the process of structural recognition.

Using UML profiles to interchange DSML and UML models 使用UML概要文件来交换DSML和UML模型

A key requirement for MDD solutions is to have a modeling language that allows the correct representation of conceptual models. Nowadays, there are two options that are the most widely used for the definition of these modeling languages: 1) the specification of a domain-specific modeling language (DSML) or 2) the customization of UML. In practice, these two modeling alternatives are viewed as opposite solutions. However, since both alternatives provide benefits for the application of MDD solutions, in this paper, we present a proposal that uses UML profile extension mechanisms to interchange modeling information between DSML-based models and UML models. This proposal shows how these two modeling alternatives can be integrated in a unique MDD solution.

A formal method for cost and accuracy trade-off analysis in software assessment measures 软件评估方法中成本与准确性权衡分析的形式化方法

Creating accurate models of information systems is an important but challenging task. It is generally well understood that such modeling encompasses general scientific issues, but the monetary aspects of the modeling of software systems are not equally well acknowledged. The present paper describes a method using Bayesian networks for optimizing modeling strategies, perceived as a trade-off between these two aspects. Using GeNIe, a graphical tool with the proper Bayesian algorithms implemented, decision support can thus be provided to the modeling process. Specifically, an informed trade-off can be made, based on the modeler's prior knowledge of the predictive power of certain models, combined with his projection of their costs. It is argued that this method might enhance modeling of large and complex software systems in two principal ways: Firstly, by enforcing rigor and making hidden assumptions explicit. Secondly, by enforcing cost awareness even in the early phases of modeling. The method should be used primarily when the choice of modeling can have great economic repercussions.

Google Scholar's ranking algorithm: The impact of citation counts (An empirical study) Google Scholar排名算法:引用数的影响(一项实证研究)

Google Scholar is one of the major academic search engines but its ranking algorithm for academic articles is unknown. In a recent study we partly reverse-engineered the algorithm. This paper presents the results of our second study. While the previous study provided a broad overview, the current study focused on analyzing the correlation of an article's citation count and its ranking in Google Scholar. For this study, citation counts and rankings of 1,364,757 articles were analyzed. Some results of our first study were confirmed: Citation counts is the highest weighed factor in Google Scholar's ranking algorithm. Highly cited articles are found significantly more often in higher positions than articles that are cited less often. Therefore, Google Scholar seems to be more suitable for searching standard literature than for gems or articles by authors advancing a view different from the mainstream. However, interesting exceptions for some search queries occurred. In some cases no correlation existed; in others bizarre patterns were recognizable, suggesting that citation counts sometimes have no impact at all on articles' rankings.

This paper investigates context awareness in business process modelling (BPM). It introduces a context model for BPM (CM4BPM) and a role-based business process model (RBPM), and presents an approach allowing enacting processes with respect to the context. Decisions driving business processes enactment are based on context related knowledge. The proposed approach consists on using contextual knowledge in order to enhance the adequacy of the assignments during the enactment of the business processes, it can be used to improve the design and implementation of business processes using existing process modeling languages in order to allow the support of contextaware process enactment.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the current security issues of XML Signature - a W3C Recommendation, which is used as a key part of the process of ensuring web services integrity. After introducing the necessary terminology, the problematic issues of the XML Signature W3C Recommendation are divided into several areas, inspected, and the solutions are described and compared. If an appropriate solution does not exist, or is not yet fully standardized, it is marked as an open problem and the solution is proposed.

System analysis is a top-down approach to create transparency for the following problem solution. Being a highly abstract approach, it is usually applied either as a proceeding framework or in search of a solution to a general problem. This paper argues that focusing on business rules concept for system analysis can efficiently facilitate the communication between business and informational technology (IT)- based approaches and provide a necessary framework for solving managerial problems. Proceeding and elements of such system analysis are shown and described. Potential benefits of this approach and further challenges are outlined.

To this effect, we elaborated in this paper a methodology of designing automated systems using participative methods on the one hand and we present the issues involved in upgrading the industrial systems on the other hand. In order to deal with these issues, we present a practical case of a grain silo. The methodology proposed is divided into ten steps and it is based on the use of two systemic methods: SADT and OOPP. This methodology allows us to validate the automation architecture to install in the grain silo.
