Autonomous Navigation of an Agricultural Robot Using RTK GPS and Pixhawk 基于RTK GPS和Pixhawk的农业机器人自主导航

This paper discusses the design, implementation, and performance of an autonomous navigation system built for an agricultural robot. The onboard precision GPS system allows the robot to navigate to potato plants previously identified as infected with Potato Virus Y (PVY), in order to remove them from the field efficiently. This autonomous robot is in-line with emerging technologies in the field of precision agriculture. The navigation system is based on a Pixhawk microcontroller for ease of use and affordability. Because only sick plants must be removed, an RTK GPS module from Swift Navigation was used to maximize accuracy. The supporting components, both electrical and mechanical, are covered in detail. This includes communication equipment, motors, and an enclosure to protect the components from weather and terrain. This AGV will serve as a test platform for sensors and grasping mechanisms that will eventually be integrated on a larger, more advanced, final version.

Formal Definitions for Common Data Structures and Algorithms 通用数据结构和算法的正式定义

Data Structures and algorithms are core topics taught in all Computer Science degrees. Yet for all the commonality in teaching these topics there is no universally accepted method for presenting the material. Some faculty and students will prefer a more graphical presentation with accompany lecture, others will prefer a more textual approach with pseudo-code, others will use a combination of both. While any of these approaches can be effective they all suffer from the same two problems 1) neither has formally defined what the students specifically needs to do to implement a data structure or algorithm, 2) neither can be used by the student to verify that what they have implemented is correct. By writing Prolog for common data structures and algorithms, we can avoid these problems because Prolog provides us with a formal language for specifying a definition and once written the definition can be executed in the form of a proof to show how the data structure or algorithm should perform under various conditions.

USSD Digital Wallet USSD数字钱包

This paper deals with the research of the utilizing Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) to create a digital payment solution that bridges the gap between technology and banking to bring financial inclusion to the majority of people who do not have wide access to internet. By developing an open source web enabler in the form of an Application Programming interface (API), our software promotes banking to the unbanked and progresses towards secured financial convenience for all. Not only it will serve the unbanked people, it will also offer payment solutions to those who already have bank accounts by connecting to the banks of their personal choice for payment services, which makes our product a one stop solution for all the financial service needs without using the internet. Initial implementation of this software suite has been tested successfully on Africa's Talking USSD simulator in the form of a prototype.

This paper studies combine-then-equalize and equalize-then-combine receiver architectures in a multicarrier scenario motivated by 5G cellular systems. The BER performance of these two receiver architectures with polarization diversity is compared. The results show that the combine-then-equalize approach better exploits the inherent diversity in the system.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to Successful Remote Sensing Deployments in Mongolia 《在蒙古成功部署遥感的搭便车指南》

The health hazard of air pollution in developing countries poses a significant threat of cardiovascular, respiratory, and other diseases. Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia is among cities with the worst polluted air in the world due to the use of coal as the primary heating source in the traditional Mongolian gers where most of the local population resides. Humanitarian groups are looking for ways to improve air quality, but are unable to measure the effects of their solutions. We build a low-cost air quality sensor that can upload data in real-time in remote locations. This newly developed sensor allows for real-time air quality monitoring and tracking that was not possible before in such locations. We present the implementation and deployment of this system and share experiences and lessons learned from deploying the sensors in such a unique location.

HeyLo: Visualizing User Interests from Twitter Using Emoji in Mixed Reality 在混合现实中使用表情符号来可视化Twitter上的用户兴趣

We tackle the problem of analyzing a user's interests from social media content and subsequently visualizing these interests in an extended reality environment. We compare five models for extracting interests from Twitter users and how we can measure the effectiveness of these models. We also look at how these interest extraction models fit in the context of HeyLo, an extended reality computational creativity (XRCC) framework for visualizing potential conversational topics. The chosen interests for a particular person are visualized using emoji. We accomplish this by using an emoji2vector model to find the closest related emoji to a given interest. We perform a comparative analysis between the five interest extraction models on real-world users and their tweets, evaluating specificity, variance, and relevance.

This work describes the automated positioning of the focus of a femtosecond laser across the surface of a planar sample. The shape of the pattern is created in a simple text file with coma separated values. The interfacing of the equipment is accomplished using the open source Python programming language.

Design of Common-Mode Feedback for High-Gain Charge Amplifier 高增益电荷放大器的共模反馈设计

We describe a common-mode feedback circuit (CMFB) for a charge detector. The amplifier is implemented in a 180-nm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process. The amplifier combines a folded differential topology, active reset, and small feedback capacitors. This allows for low noise, high-gain, high-dynamic-range, and robust operations. The design and analysis of the CMFB for the proposed high-gain charge amplifier is discussed. Simulation results show that the CMFB loop has a phase margin of 62.1 degrees and a gain margin of 25 dB. Measurement results show the amplifier chip exhibits a stable common mode voltage.

Effect of Consolidation Effort on Mechanical Properties of Field-Mixed Polyester Polymer Concrete for Bridge Deck Overlays 固结力对桥面覆盖层现场拌合聚酯聚合物混凝土力学性能的影响

Polyester polymer concrete (PPC) is a bridge deck overlay product that has been recently implemented in the state of Utah. The objective of this work was to quantify the effect of consolidation effort as a critical step in the development of a standard for quality assurance testing of PPC. Laboratory testing was conducted on a typical PPC mixture from actual bridge deck overlay placements in Utah, and the effect of consolidation effort on several mechanical properties of PPC specimens was investigated. In this study, the test specimens were not shown to be sensitive to the level of consolidation effort. Findings from this study are expected to be highly valuable to state departments of transportation and other agencies implementing the use of PPC overlays on bridge decks.
