Blocking adherence of Candida albicans to buccal epithelial cells by yeast glycolipids, yeast wall lipids and lipids from epithelial cells. 酵母糖脂、酵母壁脂和上皮细胞脂阻断白色念珠菌粘附口腔上皮细胞。
Pub Date : 1987-08-01 DOI: 10.1111/j.1439-0507.1987.tb03631.x

Summary: Ceramide monohexosides and ceramide dihexosides isolated from total lipids of yeast forms of Candida albicans and steryl glycosides isolated from mycelial forms inhibited the adherence of yeast cells to buccal epithelial cells by 48,49 and 54%, respectively. Total lipids extracted from a membrane‐free preparation of yeast cell walls and from whole epithelial cells also blocked adherence by 57 and 53%. The lipid extracts were analyzed and found to contain various classes that inhibited adherence. These results support and contribute to our earlier findings indicating that surface lipids from yeast and epithelial cells may be involved in their mutual adherence.

Local hyperthermia in the treatment of sporotrichosis. 局部热疗在孢子菌病治疗中的应用。
Pub Date : 1987-07-01 DOI: 10.1111/j.1439-0507.1987.tb04396.x
M Hiruma, T Katoh, I Yamamoto, S Kagawa
Summary:  21 patients with sporotrichosis underwent treatment of local hyperthermia using a pocket warmer. The treatment was performed 1–3 times a day, totalling 40–60 minutes per day, until the lesions healed with scarformation. As a result, “complete cure” was observed in 18 patients, “relapse” in 1 and “improvement” in 2. In the 18 patients with complete cure, the period of treatment was 5–13 weeks (mean ± SD: 8.5 ± 2.5 weeks), and was not affected by sex, age, sites of lesions or clinical types. Because heat resistant strains were not detected by thermotolerance tests of isolates, the reason for failure was suspected to be mainly due to the misuse of the pocket warmer. It was, therefore, thought that the application technique of a pocket warmer was the most important factor in the success of the local hyperthermic therapy.
