Study habits involve autonomy and a student's decision on his own criteria to prepare himself by means of managing and prioritizing his time in an autonomous educational context. As part of the research carried out within the doctoral program in Educational Sciences, the objective is to characterize the state of self-management of learning in students of the Short Cycle Higher Education in Pharmaceutical Services of the Faculty of Nursing and Health Technology, University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara, Cuba. The empirical method of document review was used (normative, curricular and methodological of the subject); the analytical-synthetic theoretical method was also taken into account. Among the main results, the following stand out: inequality in academic progress, need for additional support, need for differentiated pedagogical approaches, and diversification of teaching strategies, which allow students to manage their own learning. It is concluded that the reality manifests itself differently from what is expected in the proposed professional model, because students are not able to manage their own learning, since what they learn does not meet the objectives proposed in the subject Pharmaceutical Services.

Predictive analytics has emerged as a pivotal tool in financial compliance, offering sophisticated methods for identifying fraudulent transactions through the application of machine learning (ML) concepts. As financial institutions grapple with increasingly complex fraud schemes and stringent regulatory requirements, the integration of predictive analytics with ML provides a proactive approach to fraud detection and prevention. Machine learning algorithms excel in analyzing vast datasets, identifying hidden patterns, and making real-time predictions. In the realm of financial compliance, supervised learning models such as logistic regression, decision trees, and random forests are commonly used to classify transactions as legitimate or fraudulent. These models are trained on historical transaction data, learning to recognize the subtle indicators of fraud by identifying correlations between various features and fraudulent outcomes. This allows for high-accuracy predictions on new, unseen data. Unsupervised learning techniques, such as clustering and anomaly detection, are equally critical in predictive analytics for financial compliance. These methods do not require labeled data and are adept at uncovering novel fraud patterns by detecting outliers and irregularities that deviate from normal transactional behavior. Anomaly detection algorithms, including k-means clustering and isolation forests, can identify transactions that exhibit unusual characteristics, flagging them for further investigation. The integration of predictive analytics with real-time data processing capabilities enhances the agility of fraud detection systems. Streaming analytics and real-time scoring enable the continuous monitoring of transactions, ensuring that suspicious activities are identified and addressed promptly. This real-time aspect is crucial for minimizing the impact of fraudulent transactions and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Despite the advancements, implementing predictive analytics for financial compliance involves challenges such as ensuring data quality, addressing privacy concerns, and maintaining model transparency. Financial institutions must navigate these challenges by employing robust data governance practices, leveraging secure data processing techniques, and adopting explainable AI models that provide insights into their decision-making processes. In conclusion, predictive analytics, powered by machine learning concepts, offers a robust framework for identifying fraudulent transactions and enhancing financial compliance. By leveraging advanced ML algorithms and real-time data processing, financial institutions can proactively detect and prevent fraud, thereby safeguarding their operations and ensuring adherence to regulatory mandates. This approach not only mitigates financial losses but also strengthens the overall integrity and trustworthiness of the financial system.

Introduction and aim: The babirusa (Babyrousa babyrussa Celebensis Deniger) is a genetic resource of immeasurable value, even though it has held protected status for nearly 60 years. Unfortunately, its status remains declared as endangered due to factors such as forest encroachment in the North Sulawesi region. This research aims to investigate the behaviours of community collectors, traders, and consumers concerning their level of interest in babirusa meat, which continues to circulate in the Langowan traditional market, Minahasa Regency. The findings of this study can provide valuable recommendations for the government to formulate new policies and regulations. Methods: The research employed a survey method, focusing on the community of collectors, traders, and buyers of babirusa meat in the Langowan traditional market, Minahasa Regency, and its surroundings. Results: The results from the field survey were then juxtaposed with the outcomes of sensory test analyses conducted by several panellists at the Animal Products Technology Laboratory. Until now, babirusa meat remains a sought-after commodity for Minahasa residents in the Langowan area and its surroundings. This indicates that despite the existence of government regulations in the form of Conservation Law No. 5 of 1990, there is still evidence of the covert sale of protected babirusa meat in the Langowan traditional market, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi province of Indonesia. In conclusion: The local individuals in the Langowan traditional market of Minahasa Regency who purchase and consume babirusa meat are predominantly under 50 years old, with a higher representation of males with the majority holds of elementary school education, and their primary occupation of farmers. Public awareness of the endemic babirusa is remarkably high. The sensory test results indicated that babirusa meat is perceived as highly attractive in terms of colour, possesses a distinctive meaty aroma, rough texture, excellent taste, and high tenderness. This positive perception is linked to the understanding that babirusa meat has its own benefits, leading to a genuine liking for this unique meat. Implications: There exists a notable public awareness of babirusa as an endemic animal. The overall acceptability of babirusa meat was noteworthy, reinforcing its significance as an endemic animal in North Sulawesi. Specifically, the Langowan traditional market has been a focal point for the buying and selling of babirusa meat. This practice, which was more prevalent before 1990, continues to be carefully executed in the Langowan market being protected for the next sustainability of this endemic animals.

The term Islamic finance is used to refer to financial activities conforming to Islamic Law (Sharia). One of the main principles of the Islamic finance system is the prohibition of the payment and the receipt of riba (interest) in a financial transaction. The term riba covers all forms of interest and is not limited to usury or excessive interest only. The most critical and significant implication of banning interest is the indirect prohibition of a “pure” debt security. The key point to bear in mind is that Islamic law does not recognize money and money instruments as a commodity but merely as a medium of exchange. Hence any return must be tied to an asset, or participation and risk-taking in a joint enterprise (such as partnerships). A pure debt security is replaced with an “asset-linked” security, direct financing of a real asset, and different forms of partnerships of which equity financing is the most desirable. In addition to prohibition of riba, there are several other important provisions which may affect financial transactions. These include the prohibition of ‘gharar’ (uncertainty or asymmetrical information), ‘maysir’ (gambling, speculation), hoarding, as well as trading in prohibited commodities (for example, pork and alcohol).

This concept paper delves into the pivotal role of language support programs, particularly English as a Second Language (ESL), in enhancing the academic success of international students. It conducts a comprehensive review of existing literature to evaluate the effectiveness of these programs, identifies critical gaps in current research, and proposes avenues for future exploration to bolster the efficacy of language support services. The academic success of international students is contingent upon their ability to effectively communicate and comprehend course materials in a language that may not be their native tongue. Language support programs, notably ESL, play a crucial role in bridging linguistic barriers and facilitating meaningful engagement with academic content. However, the effectiveness of these programs varies widely, prompting the need for a thorough evaluation. Through an extensive examination of available evidence, this paper identifies both strengths and limitations within current language support initiatives. While some programs exhibit promising outcomes in improving language proficiency and academic performance, others fall short in adequately addressing the diverse needs of international student populations. Moreover, there is a notable dearth of research addressing specific factors influencing the effectiveness of language support programs, such as instructional methodologies, cultural considerations, and institutional support structures. The identified gaps underscore the necessity for further research to refine and optimize language support services for international students. Future investigations should aim to elucidate the nuanced interactions between language proficiency, cultural adaptation, and academic achievement. Additionally, there is a pressing need to explore innovative approaches, technologies, and pedagogical strategies to enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of language support programs. This concept paper serves as a foundation for advancing scholarship in the realm of language support for international students. By critically evaluating current evidence, identifying research gaps, and proposing avenues for future exploration, it aims to foster a deeper understanding of the role of language support programs in promoting the academic success and holistic development of international student populations.
