Conformai low-profile metaline 形低调的金属

This paper presents a circularly-polarized (CP) low-profile metaline that is conformal to a conducting hollowed-out octagonal prism. Effects on the radiation characteristics of varying the octagonal prism side length, S, are investigated with the longitudinal length, L, kept constant. As S is increased, the half-power beam width decreases and the gain increases. A ten-cell CP metamaterial line shows a gain of 4.7 dBi when S is one quarter wavelength and L is 1.2 wavelengths.

A novel metamaterial with large microwave absorption and sound insulation 一种具有大微波吸收和隔音性能的新型超材料

Metamaterials provide a new route to manipulate electromagnetic waves, sound waves, elastic waves and so on. To date, it is still difficult to implement simultaneous control of multi-physical fields within single metamaterial structure. In order to tackle this challenge, we investigate the possibilities of designing a transparent metamaterial with excellent sound blocking and electromagnetic absorption properties. The metamaterial is constituted by periodic arrays of sub-wavelength ITO resonators attached to top and bottom membranes. Such configuration enables large microwave absorption owing to the ohmic loss from the meta-atoms under the illumination of plane waves, and in the meantime blocks the incident sound significantly based on the multi-resonance caused by the coupled membrane, thereby offering a promising access to bi-functional applications in the future.

A novel monitoring technique for breast cancer hyperthermia using thermoacoustic imaging 利用热声成像监测乳腺癌热疗的新技术

A novel real-time monitoring method is presented based on thermoacoustic imaging for applications in breast cancer hyperthermia. In the proposed technique, thermoacoustic imaging combined with compressive sensing is implemented to improve monitoring efficiency. Numerical modeling work is done using a breast phantom, which has realistic dielectric properties and internal structures, to validate feasibility of the presented technique. Results of the modeling work clearly show the effectiveness of the monitoring method. This technique can also find applications in other types of hyperthermia.

A broadband dual-polarized antenna with coupling-resonators for base-station applications 带耦合谐振器的宽带双极化天线,用于基站应用

A broadband dual-polarized antenna is proposed, which consists of two orthogonal dipoles coupled four L-shaped resonators. The proposed antenna have two resonant modes in the working band, the lower mode is come from the 1/2 dipole itself, while the upper one is attributed to coupling between two orthogonal dipoles. Moreover, the upper mode can be further controlled by coupling four L-shaped resonators to realize more broadband performance for LTE base-station applications. The antenna achieves a impedance bandwidth of 45.5% for SWR<1.5 at both ports, a isolation more than 26dB between ports, and a stable Half-Power Bandwidth (HPBW) of 65.5 °± 2.9 ° over 1.7–2.7GHz band. A good agreement is obtained between the simulation and the measurement results.

Preliminary studies of an offset-fed loop-dipole antenna for all-metal handsets 全金属手机用偏置馈电环偶极子天线的初步研究

Conceptual design of an offset-fed folded loop-dipole antenna for all-metal handset covering 800–1050MHz, 1700–2360MHz and 2600–2800MHz is proposed. The antenna has a low-profile and balanced structure comprising a folded loop strip, and it is especially suited for application in mobile phone (designed packaged within the all-metal housing and the ground plane length is 120mm) for multiband operation. The influence of the all-metal housing of the antenna is considered when the proposed antenna is been designing. Design considerations and simulated results of the loop-dipole antenna are presented and discussed.

Dispersion analysis of coaxial line loaded with twist-symmetric half-rings 受扭转对称半环载荷的同轴线色散分析

A coaxial line with half-rings connected to its external conductor is proposed in this paper, to investigate the dispersion properties of a twist-symmetric electromagnetic configuration. We demonstrate that the propagating modes in a twist-symmetric structure are more linear than a conventional structure. Additionally, the bandgap at the Brillouin zone boundaries can be manipulated by tuning the relative angular orientation or translation of the rings. This tuning is equivalent to changing the order of the twist symmetry from 4- to 2-fold. Our proposed geometry finds potential application in fully-metallic reconfigurable filters and phase shifters.

Overview of antenna designs and considerations in 5G cellular phones 5G手机天线设计概述及注意事项

The paper for the invited talk presents a quick understanding and an overall picture on the major antenna designs and considerations in the fifth generation mobile communications (5G) cellular phones. Due to the significant differences in the electromagnetic (EM) behaviors and communication requirements for different 5G frequency bands, the frequency boundary is set at 6 GHz to clearly classify the antenna designs and considerations in 5G cellular phones into the ones for sub-6 GHz and above 6 GHz, i.e. the mm-Wave, respectively. From 1G to 5G sub-6 GHz, the main evolutions and challenges in antenna designs for cellular phones are principally driven by the “quantity increase”, such as the band quantity increase and the antenna quantity increase. However, for cellular phone antenna designers, 5G mm-Wave antenna designs, instead, are radical changes or a revolution.

Fabrication and reliability evaluation of passive UHF RFID t-shirts 无源超高频RFID t恤的制造与可靠性评估

In this paper, we present textile antennas fabricated for T-shirt RFID applications by cutting from commercially available electro-textile, by sewing with conductive thread, and by 3D printing with stretchable silver ink on a 100 % cotton fabric. The ready tags with attached ICs are coated with a protective stretchable encapsulant. The wireless performance of the T-shirt tags is evaluated initially as well as after seven washing cycles, followed by nine washing-drying cycles in a household washing and drying machines. The initial read ranges of all kinds of tags, when measured on-body, are around 3.5 meters. Based on the reliability testing results, the coating effectively protects the components from cyclic washing and drying.

Integration of electro-textile RF coil array with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system: Design strategies and characterization methods 电子纺织射频线圈阵列与磁共振成像系统的集成:设计策略与表征方法

Radio Frequency (RF) coils are used to receive the magnetic RF signal from the human body during MRI scanning. In this paper, electro-textile will be used to design MRI RF coil array. The coil array incorporating the transmission decoupling circuitry are tuned together with the loading phantom. The S11= − 30dB and S21= −16dB at exactly the required resonant frequency of 127.7 MHz by 3T MRI scanners are achieved. The measured quality factor is related to the relative SNR to predict of electro-textile RF coil SNR performance. A microstrip line method is used to measure the effective conductivity of the electro-textile patterns. It is studied that electro-textile coils whose effective conductivity are two orders of magnitude lower than the copper can still achieve the SNR of around 50% of the copper coil. The RF coil array is made with non-magnetic components and is integrated with pre-amplifier interface for the final integration with MRI systems.
