Efficient Frame Aggregation with Frame Size Adaptation for Next Generation MU-MIMO WLANs 基于帧大小自适应的新一代MU-MIMO无线局域网的高效帧聚合

This paper aims to provide an efficient frame aggregation in medium access control (MAC) layer for downlink multi-user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) transmissions in IEEE 802.11ac wireless local area networks (WLANs), and proposes an efficient frame aggregation scheme which enhances system throughput and decreases frame error rate. In the proposed scheme, the receiving mobile terminal (MT) selection gives higher priority to MTs achieving higher throughput in the next MU-MIMO transmission while reducing signaling overhead, leading to system throughput improvement. The wireless frame setting in the proposed scheme, introducing hybrid frame aggregation method, provides lower frame error rate than acceptable level by using frame size adaptation. Through system-level simulation, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is validated in downlink MU-MIMO transmissions on WLANs.

A Study of Network Stability on Wireless Sensor Networks 无线传感器网络的网络稳定性研究

In association with recent advancement in wireless communications as well as penetration of wireless devices with sensing, computation and wireless communication capabilities, the wireless sensor networks have become an important research area due to their potential for providing cheap and flexible solutions to data monitoring and device actuation. And, many studies have analyzed routing effectiveness for wireless multi-hop networks and/or mobile ad-hoc networks under conditions that continuous communication and point-to-point traffic flows between nodes inside the network are assumed. On the other hand, our targeted WSNs for data monitoring have some different assumptions such as traffic patterns on data monitoring, restrictive packet existing periods, and network consisting sensor nodes with constrained capabilities. For evaluation of network stability, not only average loss rates are important, but also distributions are relevant, because high loss rates on temporal wireless links would make impossible to ensure reliable management of the targeted application. So, in order to evaluate stability of those networks, novel evaluation metrics are required. In this paper, we address stability of the WSN for data monitoring, propose a mechanism to improve the equitableness of the routes to the central node as the advanced local route reeselection procedure, and evaluate the proposed mechanism by a conditional data delivery ratio with wireless failure.

Performance Evaluation of Massive MIMO in Correlated Rician and Correlated Nakagami-m Fading 海量MIMO在相关r和相关Nakagami-m衰落中的性能评价

In this paper, we investigate the performance analysis of a multi-cell massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system that applies a conventional channel estimation technique, namely the linear Minimum Mean Square Error (LMMSE) over correlated Rician and correlated Nakagami-m fading channels. Based on this analysis, we find that increasing the line-of-sight (LOS) component can enhance the system performance in terms of the channel estimation accuracy, and the pilot contamination can be eliminated with both usage of very large number of antennas and applying large values of the K-Rice fading factor for the Rician fading channel model. Similarly, the pilot contamination will be eliminated via using large values of antenna and applying large values of m-shaping factor for the Nakagami-m fading channel. In addition, the effect of correlation can be reduced with both large values of the m-shaping factor and the number of antennas.

Resource Allocation Scheme Based on Online QoE Estimation of Mobile H.264 Video Streaming 基于移动H.264视频流在线QoE估计的资源分配方案

Demand on multimedia content by consumers' handheld devices over wireless channels is on the increase. In view of the accelerated trend towards consumption of high quality video, power utilization by mobile devices is expected to excessively increase. This paper presents a power and bandwidth efficient resource allocation scheme considering the end user's Quality of Experience (QoE) in the context of mobile video streaming. QoE has become the prime performance criterion for media delivery technologies. The QoE is estimated by an objective online estimation model based on adaptive Fuzzy Inference Systems (FIS). We simulate a mobile video transmission through which we identify the correlation between receiver's signal-to-noise ratio and QoE. Compared to QoS-based techniques, the proposed QoE-based scheme enables to save up to 33.13% in power and grant up to 50% more data bits for transmission.

Connect and Control Things: Integrating Lightweight IoT Framework into a Mobile Application 连接和控制事物:将轻量级物联网框架集成到移动应用程序中

Mobile applications running on smart devices are important enablers for Internet of Things (IoT). This paper presents a novel mobile application called "Connect and Control Things" (CCT) which integrates a lightweight IoT framework into smartphones and tablets. The framework is designed to discover & interact with things, reason with M2M data, provide configuration management facilities along with subscription and notification functionalities. The novel capabilities of CCT are: (i) lightweight search engine based dynamic discovery of physical things, (ii) interaction with both sensors and actuators using Sensor Markup Language (SenML) and its extensions, (iii) integrating a lightweight reasoning engine to infer high level abstraction, (iv) CoRE Link Format based configuration management and (v) support for both smart and legacy things regardless of communication technologies. An IoT architecture is presented along with a prototype implementation details for Android powered devices. Uses of the prototype mobile application in home automation scenarios are outlined. The performance of CCT is evaluated in terms of memory requirement, CPU usage and power consumption. Experimental results establish that the overall design and implementation of CCT are lightweight which encourages the adoption of CCT. It enables offering consumer centric services for home automation domain. Finally the paper concludes with future research directions.

Cloud and Energy Management -- Issues and Concerns 云和能源管理——问题和关注

The emergence of Cloud Computing has dramatically shaped the provision of computing services to consumers. Global, large scale deployments of Cloud infrastructure services have fundamentally changed the way in which we use IT services today. Businesses are now able to convert capital costs into operating expenses in order to reduce financial risk, which in turn, has resulted in a significant increase in the take-up of Cloud based services. However, this has in turn transferred considerable infrastructure costs onto Cloud Service Providers (CSP). The operational costs of large Cloud Data Centers (CDC) are significant, with the provision of energy a large proportion of this expense. The efficient management of energy, and the concept of Green Computing in general, is high on the agenda for CSPs. Cloud services, with their application in 'Smart Cities', offer an attractive reduction of expenses and resource consumption. This, coupled with the ability to rapidly and dynamically commit computational power on demand, means that the management of energy in CDCs is of substantial concern to cities aiming to develop 'smart' urban growth within their centers. This paper investigates the issues and concerns regarding energy management in Cloud Computing, by reviewing existing published research papers and literature in the field. The paper then identifies a key publication which introduces the concept of a "Green Cloud Framework' and Virtual Machine Scheduling and Management as a key energy efficiency issue. Finally, the findings of this publication are interpreted in relation to datacenter energy efficiency in general, before identifying areas for further research.

Swarming Medium Access Control Protocol for Large-Scale Wireless Sensor Networks 大规模无线传感器网络的蜂群介质访问控制协议

This paper introduces a novel Medium Access Control (MAC) scheme for ad hoc Wireless Sensor Networks. It is based upon the emergent properties of complex systems, exploiting the concept of swarm intelligence. The benefits brought about by this approach are node simplicity and improved network scalability given very low implementation overheads. Through the co-operative operation of nodes, a network can exhibit emergent self-initialisation and organisation and is adaptive to environmental and structural changes. The protocol was developed using social concepts drawn from the field of particle swarm optimisation, alongside negative feedback concepts from control system engineering. It offers comparable or better performance (in throughput and delay) with lower complexity and less overheads for larger scale networks when compared to the widely used and simple but still very effective IEEE 802.11 CSMA/CA standard.

Implicit Palm Rejection Using Real-Time Hand Model Filters on Tablet Devices 在平板设备上使用实时手模过滤器的隐式手掌拒绝

Most tablet devices usually suffer from the "palm rejection problem", where unintended multiple touches while writing often cause erroneous application behavior and unsightly imprints on the display. We designed a real-time implicit palm rejection algorithm based on hand model filters and touch characteristics. We focus our approach on accurately determining the context of the touch in real-time to provide users with an experience that is close to natural handwriting as possible. Our algorithm uses a model-based filtering method to define the palm rejection region and automatically adjust to palm-first or write-first scenarios. Our implementation can correctly filter 99% of stylus touches with a low errant touch rate of 0.87%. In summary, our palm rejection algorithm is shown to be comparable or better than most currently available note-taking applications.

QoE Based P2P Scalable Video Streaming over Mobile Ad Hoc Networks 移动自组织网络上基于QoE的P2P可扩展视频流

This paper studies the resource allocation problem for efficiently utilizing network resources for distributing video over a peer to peer mobile ad hoc network. We define an NP complete linear optimization problem to handle the upload bandwidth available across each node. Scalable video coding is used to maximize the quality of experience among users and to distribute the load and reduce the consumed power across different nodes. We propose a QoE based energy efficient (QEE) model that provides an approximation algorithm and compare with other previously proposed models [18][19]. Furthermore, the model is also compared with non-quality of experience plus non-energy efficient (NQNE) and a quality of experience plus non-energy efficient (QNE) models. Simulation results show that the proposed model achieves better quality of experience, a lower power consumption and performs better under network churn.

Internet of Things: A Definition & Taxonomy 物联网:定义与分类

The Internet of Things (IoT) has various fields of application including health care, resource management, asset tracking, etc. Depending on the use case, various technologies like RFID, Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) or Smart Objects can be used. With each of these comes a specific vision of what the IoT and connected objects are and -- to our knowledge -- there is no global picture of the IoT. The issue with this approach is that specific problems have been addressed before global ones: what if something has been missed? We propose a definition and taxonomy for connected objects and the IoT.
