The aim of the article is to verify the assumption that there is a relationship between institutional trust and generalized trust in European countries. Two dimensions of institutional trust were analyzed: trust in representative institutions and trust in implementing institutions. The first dimension included the assessment of trust in such entities as political parties, parliament, and government. The second dimension included the assessment of trust in the education system, police, civil service, social security system, health care system, and judicial system. The hierarchical linear modeling has been applied to analyze the data from the European Values Study (EVS) survey 2017. This method allowed to include both individual-level variables and country indicators in the statistical models. The obtained results confirmed the existence of a positive relationship between institutional trust (in both forms) and generalized trust.

In this paper we de fi ne local social policy as an institutional fi eld, thereby limiting our analysis to the democratic entities possessing a decentralised mode of governance and implementing the principles of welfare pluralism in their social policy. The paper presents different dimensions that can be utilised to characterise institutional fi elds, which were drawn from the research based on the theory of central con fl ation. It discusses the bene fi ts and shortcomings of using the concept of fi eld to describe institutional diversity in mesosocietal interactions.

: museum of opole Silesia The paper analyzes the resolutions of the Polish Sejm aiming to commemorate select individuals, institutions and events. The main research problem is: do parliamentary commemoration resolutions serve as an effective collective memory medium in Poland. The practical impact of parliamentary commemoration resolutions was analyzed using a specific cultural institution (Museum of Opole Silesia) as an example. The Sejm issued eight resolutions to commemorate the Silesia Uprisings in the analyzed period (up until 28.02.2017). The Uprisings were portrayed as part of the Polish struggle for independence which has not been well-received by some parties, particularly in Upper Silesia. Three consecutive directors of Museum of Silesia Opole have stated in interviews that they were either unfamiliar or mostly unfamiliar with the parliamentary commemoration resolutions. The resolutions have had no direct impact on the museum’s operations. It is the yearly anniversary calendar that synchronizes the actions of various collective memory actors in a nation state.
