The Ministry of Tourism has created a 10-priority destination program in Indonesia. Pulau Seribu is one of the 10 destinations. Meanwhile, Bira Island is located in the Thousand Islands. To improve the performance of the Island, it is also necessary to increase the island of Bira. This mixed mode research, conducted for a year on the island of Bira to respond to the plans of the Ministry of Tourism. This study aims to discern Coastal Ecotourism in Bira Island, Indonesia. The results of data collection and tabulation show the existence of gap between the performances of the island at this time and expected. Ecotourism concept enhances CE performance on the island. In addition, the concept also creates jobs of women and anglers living along the coastline. Besides, environmental conservation efforts create marine ecotourism. Furthermore, their efforts also increase economic contribution to them and local governments. The economic improvement is accompanied by improved coastal environmental performance and improved performance of culinary and handicraft tourism.

This paper presents the results of a comparative study of the vertebral column regionalization of Coptodon zillii and Oreochromis aureus of the fish family Cichlidae. Osteological features that may prove valuable for taxonomic indications are defined, and on the basis of the material handled, their use to separate the two cichlid species. The morphological characteristics of the vertebral column of C. zillii and O. aureus allowed the separation of this bony structure into five morphologically distinct regions and the features of their specified vertebral shape. This regionalization is more complex than the classical division in truncal and caudal parts only. The vertebral length and height express a morphotype that may be linked with the cichlid mode of swimming.

Samples of zooplankton's were collected by special net from 8 sites within Iraqi national waters represented by stations: 1- Shatt Al-Basrah cannal, 2- Khour Al-Zubair, 3- Buoy 29, 4-Buoy 13, 5-Buoy 5, 6-Al-Musab, 7- Ras Al-Bisha, and 8-Al-Fao. Samplings were conducted during the period June 2009 and Feb. 2010. Zooplankton's were classified in groups: Copepods, Rofifera, Cirriped larvea, and some other minor species. Major abundant zooplankton's were Copepods, Rotifera, Cirriped larvea, Polychates, and Bivalves, while other zooplankton's which appear in minor abundance were Appendicularea, Castropod, Forminilifora, and Megalopa. Selected heavy metals Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Hg, Ni, Pb, U, and Zn were determined in the collected samples by adopting a highly sophisticated ICP/MS at Maxxan Analytical Inc., Canada. Levels estimated of heavy metals in µg/g were high for most of studied metals due to two main reasons: 1- the marine vessels sank in the water ways, and 2- discharging of waste water from Basrah City and certain industrial estate around. Trend of descanding concentrations of heavy metals accumulated in zooplankton's at southern Iraqi Waters were in the order: Fe> Zn> U > Cu > Co > Pb > Cd > Hg. Highest levels in µg/g for toxic heavy metals Co (1.91±6.62), Hg (0.40±1.100), Ni (15.52±40.15), Pb (1.013±2.030), and U (88.6±156.55), were reported at site 7 the Ras Al-Bishah station at the top of the Northern West Arabian Gulf due to waste discharge from the Iranian idustrial estate.

Thirteen morphometric and seven meristic characters of the cichlids species Coptodon zillii and Oreochromis aureus were studied from three localities, Qurna, Hartha, Abu Al-Khaseeb, on Shatt al-Arab River, Basrah, Iraq. Samples revealed no significant differences between genders. Values of morphometric and meristic traits increase from the southern to northern reaches of the river. Based on cluster analysis and PCA, the Shatt al-Arab River samples of the two species C. zillii and O. aureus were clearly separated into two distinct groups. Group I, Qurna and Hartha, represents the northern and middle regions of the river and GII represents the southern region, Abu-Al-Khaseeb. Possible reasons for such differentiation among populations are discussed, and the integration of research on these species among the countries neighboring Iraq is required. This study gives information to fishery biologists about morphometric characters of C. zillii and O. aureus from Shatt al-Arab River to assist in planning of conservation strategies for these fish species.

The intertidal zone is a transition zone between terrestrial and coastal systems. During low tide, rocky pools are exposed to air for several hours throughout the day, and environmental conditions such as temperature and salinity are highly variable. There are not many studies of fish communities inhabiting the intertidal zone in Mexico. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to analyze the variation of the community structure of intertidal fish considering temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen of the water that remains trapped in the tide pools during low tide. Visual censuses were carried out monthly during spring tides on full moon days, when fluctuations of environmental variables are significant. From January to December 2015 visual census were performed in the intertidal zone of El Faro, a locality belonging to the common land of Conquista Agraria in the City of La Paz, west coast of Baja California Sur, Mexico. Extension of censuses was 156*5 m, 145 tide pools were divided in three groups (small, medium and large) according to size and depths that ranged from 20 to 45 cm. Temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen fluctuate throughout the year of study. Thermal difference between open ocean and tide pools ranged from 3.5 to 4.5°C. A total of 3,754 organisms from 22 species, 12 families, four orders and one class were recorded. To analyze community structure, the following ecological indices were used: species richness (SRI); evenness (J’); Shannon-Wiener’s diversity (H’) and Fisher’s alpha (α-Fisher) with overall values of 2.80, 0.91, 3.20 and 5.15, respectively. According to BVI, 12 species were dominant. All species recorded were grouped as abundant (2), frequent (11), common (5) and rare (4), according to their relative abundance and frequency.
