A New Log Gabor Approach for Text Detection from Video 一种新的Log Gabor方法用于视频文本检测

Text information embedded in video frames play an important role in content-based multimedia indexing and retrieval, as a result the automatic detection of texts from videos has gained wide attention in recent years. However,large variations in size, color, orientation and background complexity makes video text detection and extraction a challenging problem. In this paper an effective method for text detection and localization approach based on Log Gabor filter and Block Eigen map analysis is proposed. Log Gabor filter response is used to identify candidate text regions and Block wise Eigen map analysis is used to classify pixels as true text pixels. Finally,a heuristic based on gray scale pixel co-occurrence to eliminate false positives from the frame is used. Experimental results show the promising overall performance of the proposed method against the best features reported in the literature for the standard databases.

A Novel Method for Leaf Area Estimation based on Hough Transform 一种基于霍夫变换的叶面积估计新方法

Manual methods of Leaf area estimation are very time consuming and tiresome processes and these are generally inaccurate and subjective. A new approach is presented in this paper to make this process more accurate and user friendly by using Digital Image Processing techniques on leaves of healthy and diseased plants. A coin of five rupees is taken as a reference object to estimate the leaf area. Coins have been used in previous approaches in literature but none of the proposed methods have segmented coins accurately. Our method proposes a new approach for coin segmentation by using Hough transform. The main advantage of our proposed method is the area estimation of not only healthy leaves but also the diseased ones. Our method has been tested on four kinds of plants i.e. Potato, Pigeon Pea, Green Gram and Black Gram. Twenty leaves have been taken for each of these four plants in which ten leaves were healthy and remaining ten were of the diseased plants. The results obtained from this method were compared to the graph paper method. The average error rate of leaf area estimation of our proposed method are 1.49%, 1.11% , 1.71% and 1.31% for potato, Pigeon Pea, Green Gram and Black Gram respectively as compared to the results of graph paper method. It proves that our proposed method is more accurate for leaf area estimation of healthy and diseased leaves.

Comic books are very popular across the world due to the unique experience they provide for all of us in the society without any age limitation. Because of this attraction, which comic books have received, it has proved that comic literature will be able to survive in the twenty first century, even with the existence of multidimensional movie theatres as its competitors. While the biggest global filmmakers are busy with making movies from comic books, many researchers have been investigating their time on digitizing the comic stories as it is, expecting to create a new era in the comic world. But most of them have focused only on one or few components of the story. This paper is based on a research which aims to give the full experience of enjoying the comic books for everyone in the world despite of visual and literacy barriers people are having. Proposed solution comes as a web application that translates input image of a comic story into a text format and delivers it as an audio story to the user. The story will be created using extracted components such as characters, objects, speech text and balloons and considering the association among them with the use of image processing and deep learning technologies.
