In order to improve the modulation rate and bandwidth of distributed feedback (DFB) laser, we propose a parameter optimization method based on the rate equation of semiconductor lasers. The derivation of the rate equation shows that the 3-dB bandwidth of DFB laser can be greatly improved by increasing the relaxation oscillation frequency. The relaxation frequency expression shows that the relaxation frequency is proportional to the differential gain coefficient and the steady state photon density, and inversely proportional to the photon lifetime and gain saturation factor. According to the principle of semiconductor laser performance analysis and parameter optimization, we theoretically deduce and simulate the parameters that affect the modulation characteristics of the laser. The range of the optimized parameters is determined. Within the determined range, the optimal parameters of the semiconductor laser are obtained by using the optimization software. An equivalent circuit model of DFB laser is established based on the rate equation, and the optimal parameters are substituted into the circuit model to verify the effectiveness of parameter optimization. This optimization method takes into account the feasibility of laser simulation and selects reasonable parameters in physical principles. The results show that the modulation rate of a DFB laser can be increased from 12GHz to 20GHz by using the parameter optimization method.

Aiming at the problem of single observation station target tracking, this paper studies the single observation station target tracking algorithm based on Unscented Kalman filter (UKF). Firstly, this paper analyzes the UKF algorithm, and focuses on the implementation of UKF algorithm. On this basis, the modeling principle of single observation station target tracking is given, and the single observation station target tracking algorithm based on UKF algorithm is proposed. Finally, the simulation experiment is carried out by MATLAB. The simulation results show that, compared with the extended Kalman filter algorithm, the target tracking algorithm based on UKF has higher tracking accuracy, but takes longer time.

Using computed tomography (CT) images to assist pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) diagnosis is noninvasive and fast compared with puncturing detection. However, it is time and energy-demanding to detect and annotate lesions on CT scans for radiologists. Thus, the automatic segmentation of PMP lesions is of great potential to reduce the burden on radiologists and improve PMP diagnostic efficiency. This paper proposed a Dual External Contextual Attention Network (DECANet) to segment PMP lesions automatically. Our network is derived from ResUNet, and we design a module named dual external contextual attention to extract high-level features to improve PMP lesion segmentation accuracy. The PMP segmentation dataset are collected from 38 patients and annotated by experienced radiologists. The proposed network achieves good performance with a dice coefficient of 88.68% and a mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) of 79.40%, outperforming other networks including UNet, AttentionUNet, and ResUNet.

Due to the complexity and variability of the underwater environment, DOA estimation algorithms based on mathematical models will produce errors or even fail. In addition, the neural network has the ability of generalization and mapping. It can consider the noise, transmission channel inconsistency, and other factors of the objective environment. Therefore, this paper utilizes the Back Propagation (BP) neural network as the basic framework of underwater DOA estimation. In addition, in order to improve the DOA estimation performance of the traditional BP neural network, multi-source underwater DOA estimation of PSO-BP-NN based on a High-order Cumulant optimization algorithm are proposed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is proved by comparing it with the state-of-the-art algorithms and MUSIC algorithm.

Mode-locking based on dissipative four-wave-mixing (DFWM) has been fundamental in producing pulses with repetition rates on the order of gigahertz, where comb filters and long nonlinear components are elemental. Here we demonstrate a gigahertz stable pulsed Yb-doped fiber laser based on the hybrid plasmonic microfiber knot resonator device. Output with repetition rate of 54.8 GHz at 1 μm waveband and 2.27 ps pulse-width is achieved. Unlike previous pulse generation mechanisms, the operation utilizes the nonlinear-polarization-rotation (NPR) effect introduced by the polarization-dependent feature of the device to increase intracavity power for boosting DFWM mode-locking. The easily fabricated versatile device acts as a polarizer, comb filter, and nonlinear component simultaneously, thereby introducing a novel application of microfiber resonator devices in ultrafast and nonlinear photonics.

For shortwave OFDM systems under sky-wave doubly-selective channel conditions, the multi-path delay can be almost constant in several continuous OFDM symbols, while the path gain can be changed significantly along with the change of OFDM symbols. Based on the temporal-correlation properties of such a channel, we propose a recursive compressed sensing (CS) method of sky-wave channels with double selectivity in delayed Doppler domain. The recursive ideas is introduced into CS based double-selective channel estimation and the performance of channel estimation in the current OFDM symbol is improved by using the estimation results from the previous OFDM symbol as prior information. Simulation results show that the proposed recursive CS algorithm can take full advantage of the temporal correlation structure of channel sparsity, which result in the significantly reducing the pilot overhead.

Improving the spectral efficiency of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based visible light communication (VLC) system has become a hot topic. Duobinary (DB) and nonlinear trellis-coded PAM (NLTCP) are two typical schemes for improving spectral efficiency. In this paper, we compare the performance of QAM, DB and NLTCP modulations. An experimental comparation is conducted in the VLC system utilizing silicon substrate blue LED over 1-m indoor free space transmission with different signal peak-to-peak voltage (Vpp) and data rate. The experimental results clearly display the NLTCP outperforms the QAM and DB when the system operates at highly nonlinear status. And a data rate of 2 Gbps is achieved. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time comparing the above coding methods, choosing the most suitable coding scheme for different working situations in the VLC system is worth considering.

Photomultiplier tube (PMT) detector, with extreme sensitivity, has been applied as a part of optical receiver in underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) research in recent years. However, it suffers low dynamic power range, which significantly restricts the increase of optical receiver performance. In this paper, an adaptive optical power control (AOPC) system based on liquid crystal light valve (LCLV) and photomultiplier tube (PMT) gain controlling is proposed and demonstrate to increase the optical dynamic range for high sensitive UWOC links. Experimental results show under the transmission rate of 100 Mbps, the optical signal dynamic ranges of receiver module after loading the adaptive receiver-side optical power control function expands 68dB.

Recently, orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams have been applied in free space optical communication (FSOC) to build a high-capacity communication link. However, the light field information of OAM beam is difficult to be detected directly and quickly. Herein, this paper demonstrates a detector using speckle-correlation scattering matrix (SSM) imaging technology based on a diffuser and proposes a generalized hybrid input-output algorithm (GHIOA) for iterative optimization of the OAM inversion light field. As an application example, inversion of OAM field without reference light is realized employing SSM approach, by using the optical transmission matrix of strong scattering medium as a diffuser. The simulation results illustrate that the approach can improve the retrieval effect of OAM light field, when the sampling parameter is 4, and the average correlation rate of the inversion OAM filed is increased by about 200% after using GHIOA.

In a two-AP visible light communication (VLC) system with overlapped coverage area, one can use resource partition schemes based on the user’s location to achieve interference avoidance. The VLC link’s channel characteristics are taken as a function of the position of the end users. In this paper, statistical channel gain models in different cell coverage areas are derived by using the transformation of probability density function of random location variables based on their structure information when users follow the Poisson Point Process (PPP) random model. They are further used to evaluate the performances of three proposed region-based resource allocation schemes. Simulation results demonstrate effectiveness of the proposed models and joint transmission (JT) scheme shows better outage probability and average spectrum efficiency (ASE).
