Novel approach to the design of weighted minimax quadrature mirror filters 加权极大极小正交镜滤波器设计的新方法

The weighted least squares (WLS) algorithm is widely employed for designing quadrature mirror filters (QMF) in the frequency domain. The equiripple nature of the WLS design and its performance near the filter band edge have been reported to be better than that of the least squares (LS) design. It is known that these design techniques suffer from pass-band anomaly under different stop band frequencies. We have proposed an algorithm to eliminate pass-band anomaly of LS design. In this paper, we show that WLS can be modified in way similar to that proposed for the LS design. The characteristics of the resulting filters satisfy the stop band requirements and do not show anomaly in the pass band region.

A study of PRSA sub-cycles PRSA子循环的研究

This paper discusses sub-cycles in a pseudo-random sequence of arrays (PRSA). Sub-cycles are generated by using a linear feedback shift register with a non-primitive characteristic polynomial in the core of the PRSA generator. Some properties of the sub-cycles are stated and proved. Examples are used to further clarify the ideas presented. Computer-generated results are also included.

A new technique is presented to design quadrantally symmetric 2-D IIR filters. A novel blind diversity combining receiver for CDMA systems 一种用于CDMA系统的新型盲分集组合接收机

This paper addresses the problem of blind multiple access interference (MAI) and intersymbol interference (ISI) suppression in direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. In order to take advantage of the diversity inherent to multipath channels, we introduce a blind RAKE multiuser receiver that proceeds in two steps. First, soft estimates of the desired user transmitted symbols are obtained from each propagation path using a bank of appropriate linearly constrained maximum likelihood linear (LCMLL) receivers. Afterwards, these estimates are adequately combined to enhance the signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR).

Blind identification of linear channels using the data constellation geometry 利用数据星座几何对线性信道进行盲识别

We propose a novel geometric blind identification method based on the structure of the data constellation created from the output of an ISI-corrupted channel transmitting an M-ary PAM coded source. We formally establish that, in the absence of noise and under certain identification conditions, the covex hull of the constellation contains information sufficient for recovering the channel uniquely (up to the sign). In the noisy case the method must be preceeded by an unsupervised clustering procedure. Contrary to HOS- or SOS-based methods our approach is finite and does not require neither spatial nor temporal diversity. On the negative side, the complexity is higher than exponential with respect to the channel length and so the method is more suitable for short channels.

Analysis of HF data communication signals using the lag-windowed Wigner-Ville distribution 用滞后窗Wigner-Ville分布分析高频数据通信信号

Time-frequency analysis is used to analyze digital modulation signals such as FSK (frequency shift-keying) and ASK (amplitude shift-keying) in HF (high frequency) radio communications. A new time-frequency distribution, the lag-windowed Wigner-Ville distribution (LWWVD), improves the time-frequency representation by minimizing the interference terms due to the cross-term. Comparisons are made with the conventional Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD), reduced interference distributions (RID) and other related methods, based on the criteria of the mainlobe width and the signal-to-interference ratio. Consistently, the LWWVD gives the most accurate time-frequency representation for ASK and FSK signals.

Examination of features used for reference indicator construction in shot boundary refinement 在镜头边界细化中用于参考指标构建的特征检验

Shot boundary refinement is the first stage of long transition analysis. Its purpose is to extract the exact transition start and end in a video sequence. This is done by first constructing a reference indicator and then picking up the sharp gradient changes within such an indicator. The parameter used in constructing the reference indicator can vary, and different features can be used, with reference frames set at different positions. This paper examines the effect of varying these parameters, and its implication when applied to transitions with different special effects.

Application of time-frequency distributions to the independent component analysis of ECG signals 时频分布在心电信号独立分量分析中的应用

This paper deals with the problem of independent component analysis of ECG signals. We propose to exploit the time frequency information present in the ECG signals. Existing approaches use only high and second order statistics to separate such kinds of signals. We investigate the application of time-frequency tools to perform the same task. This approach seems for us natural since the ECG signals show a special structure in the time-frequency domain of which we take advantage in our proposed analysis. This time-frequency analysis can contributes in the decision making of medical diagnoses. We propose to separate a combination of mother ECG signals and weak fetus ECG signals. Experimental results are reported and compared to results obtained with a higher order statistic method.

Robust 3-D subband video coder 鲁棒3-D子带视频编码器

We explain our results on development of a robust video coder, The coder consists of 3D subband filtering in the first stage, an optimized scalar quantization (SQ) of lowest tempo-spatial frequency subband, and a pyramid vector quantization (PVQ) for high frequency subbands. To increase robustness to noise productive enumeration is used for PVQ. Also with phase scrambling the distribution of the lowest temporal-spatial band is changed to Gaussian which results in a better SQ coding gain for this band. The output indices of SQ were sent using a folded binary code to improve noise robustness. Results show that at high bit-error rate (5/spl times/10/sup -3/) the coder peak signal to noise ratio drops a maximum 5.3 dB.

An interactive tactile graphics display 交互式触觉图形显示

We have built and operated an interactive tactile graphics display based on 48 piezoelectric actuators assembled in a movable tactile output unit. The unit can be positioned at any location on a two dimensional surface to explore the structure of a virtual image. The virtual tactile display (VTD) can receive data either from a camera system or from a data base on a computer. Both static and dynamic patterns can be displayed. The maximum refresh rate of the tactile image is 20 Hz. This paper covers the technical description of an improved version of the virtual tactile display which takes into account all experience gained with an initial prototype. A short overview of the results obtained in tests done with 6 blind and 4 sighted subjects using the initial prototype shows the capacity of the underlying concept.
