This paper proposes a method of hardware implementation of the membrane computing architecture for the control of a mobile robot. The basic idea is to use in the development of control systems the models of functional description of living cells, which should ensure a process of design, modeling and implementation based on cognitive models. The implementation algorithm presents a sequence of operations involving: functional development and modeling of Computing Cells, development and modeling of the topology of the membrane computing system (P-System), their implementation in hardware description languages (AHDL), and configuration of the FPGA circuit for realization of the control system. For validation and analysis of the performance of the Computing Cells, Petri Net models are used, which ensure the identification of the concurrent processes while maintaining a maximum parallelism. Functional testing of membrane computing models was performed based on the Quartus II development environment, the AHDL hardware description language, and the Altera DE0 Board.

We look at using the wheel of life balance in the context of information technology for time management. All the factors of achieving success are divided into 2 categories, specifically those are external and internal factors. For further use in the information technology the components of external factors categories are divided into following groups: social, economic, technological, geographic, political, ecological, competitive. The process of the division of the internal factors is more complicated and begins with defining the social roles, centers of character, goals and priorities. The wheel of life balance is used as a visual tool. In the process of working with this technology the user is prompted to either create the wheel of life balance out of their own values or use an existing template. To then form a strategy each value gets graded, the level of dissatisfaction is measured, "laziness and procrastination", "fears and uncertainty" are determined. The specifics of the software product are described, namely: the process of "pulling up" the components of the wheel of life balance, study of the dynamics of changing category values, usage of labels and hashtags, division of events into phases and uniting of external and internal categories. The class diagram and the activity diagram of the software module "Wheel of Life Balance" are developed and the specifics and peculiarities of its functioning are briefly described.

The paper analyses the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) which is currently one of the most important agile scaling frameworks, being adopted by the software development companies to maintain a competitive advantage in the digital age and, at the same time, it represents a way to involve all the organization departments in delivering technology-based solutions. Through this framework, functions like marketing, sales, legal, finance adopt Agile and Lean practices to achieve greater transparency and align project objectives with business goals. As every business is becoming a software business, building solid and automated models is essential to enable and sustain a large-scale software delivery. The SAFe adoption steps are analyzed to identify the prerequisites needed for the organizational transformation. This paper provides a case study presenting the implementation of SAFe at a global software development company. This study provides relevant information for both practitioners and academics. The examined framework is based on robust theories and offers tools that software companies can use to increase the efficiency of their software delivery model. Even if the assessed framework is partially adopted within an organization, its core principles, tools, and techniques enhance the software delivery practices.

Of all renewable energies, solar energy is abundantly available and can meet current energy requirements if captured and used wisely. Solar hot air heaters are used to capture suns thermal energy and release it to a fluid present in the system. Most often this fluid is air, which after the heat transfer made between it and the absorption surface, it’s used either to heat spaces or to dry various farming products. For high efficiency the absorber plate of the system must capture solar energy in as much as possible and retain energy in the presence of sunlight and release it in the absence thereof. The indoor environment to achieve a greenhouse effect without energy loss and a complete heat transfer through the absorption surface and the fluid are desirable to achieve better performances. Improving heat transfer is achievable by using obstacles on the absorber surface that break the present laminar flow and creates vortexes or eddy currents that take over a greater amount of thermal energy from the absorption surface. This work presents various investigations carried out on solar air heaters with deflectors on the absorber plate. The results obtained are summarized and referred in the paper.

This publication provides a brief overview of the results of dissemination of the method of multi-zone space-vector pulse-width modulation (PWM) for the adjustment of inverter-based installations (with low switching frequency of inverters) characterized by multilevel output voltage: a) of split-phase variable speed drives; b) of transport-oriented ac drives with two windings of the stator of electrical machine; c) of three-inverter-based power systems with modular configuration; d) of photovoltaic (PV) systems with twin inverters; e) of five-phase installations with asynchronous machine with open-end winding; f) of six-phase structures with quad inverters, and g) of photovoltaic installations based on triple inverters and transformer of multi-winding configuration. It has been shown that the developed schemes, techniques, and algorithms of multi-zone synchronous PWM (MZS PWM) applied for control of the mentioned above inverter-based systems (with specialized phase-shift between signals of separate inverters) assure synchronization and symmetry of the basic voltage waveforms of installations over the entire control range. It provides minimization of unwanted sub-harmonics (of the operating frequency) in spectral composition of the basic voltages of these installations, leading to reducing of losses in systems and to increasing of its efficiency.

A resonant Long-Wire antenna for S-band is theoretically analyzed in terms of radiation pattern and impedance matching. A prototype of Long-Wire antenna was built, tuned and eventually tested in transmission mode, using an experimental setup developed for this purpose. As a tool for real environment characterization of this type of antenna, the amateur radio cross-band linear transponder onboard the geostationary artificial satellite Es’hail-2 (QO-100) is used.

We present results from a controlled experiment with N=47 participants conducted in a mixed reality environment to assess explicit and implicit learning of cognitive structures instantiated by socio-emotional components. To this end, we implemented a custom version of MR4ISL, the Mixed Reality software tool for Implicit Social Learning, with a task involving colors, numbers, and emotions. Our results show evidence of explicit learning with participants’ responses being attributed to conscious response bases, rules, and memory.

The increasing demand for energy and the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from the use of conventional fuels are directing humanity towards renewable energy sources, in this case solar energy, and towards increasing investments in research and improvement of solar systems that produces both electricity and heat. For household consumers as well as for some industrial ones, the large volume of energy consumed is due to space heating, ventilation and drying. The availability of solar energy can contribute to reducing this consumption utilizing solar air heater systems. In the presence of solar energy, reducing the household energy consumption also depends on the thermal performance of these systems. Recent studies focus on improving these performances by modifying the components so that there is as much absorption of solar radiation as possible and as high a thermal transfer as possible between the absorption surface and the existing air flow through the system. The objective of this paper is to review different forms of the absorption plate and the different obstacles (roughness’s) used by researchers to refine thermal performances of solar air heater systems. The role of obstacles is to create swirlers that favor heat transfer. The results presented briefly refer to thermal efficiency, thermo-hydraulic improvement factor and friction factor. The final remarks propose observations and proposals for further improvements to solar air heating domain.

Local industrial networks represent a model with only three levels physical, data link, and application for use in the domain of the industrial processes using computing elements with low resources of type microcontroller. Modbus is a simple and easy to implement protocol but partially defined from the point of view of devices determinism and functionality described in the network. Modbus Extension completes the Modbus by defining some Modus compatible messages of an acquisition cycle and a device description mode. To implement the acquisition cycle the best possible implementation in using a communication channel was pursued, in conditions that the serial communication speeds of modern microcontrollers have reached up to 27Mb/s. At this speed, any over-control given by real-time operating systems or interrupt handling routines creates significant times in the structure of an acquisition cycle. The paper presents an implementation solution using the PRUs from Sitara AM335x, which at a speed of 12 Mb/s, a 75.53% percentage of channel usage for payload data was obtained.
