10 Gbps all-optical relay-assisted FSO system over a turbulence channel 湍流信道上的10gbps全光中继辅助FSO系统

Relay-assisted free space optics (FSO) communications becomes one of the promising solutions to improve the FSO link capabilities by implicitly reducing the transmission distance and exploiting distance-dependent fading variance of turbulence. Highly motivated by the capabilities of the system, this paper presents bit error rate (BER) performance of an all-optical 10-Gbps FSO relay based system using amplify-and-forward signaling is investigated through numerical simulations and experimental implementation. Results show that BER improves up to several orders of magnitudes when using relay based links over the same turbulent distance.

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) for indoor visible light communications 用于室内可见光通信的非正交多址(NOMA)

Providing multiple access support to visible light communication (VLC) systems requires new networking architecture. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a proposed multiple access technique for future cellular systems. In this work, based on a realistic indoor channel conditions, we apply NOMA to indoor VLC channels and demonstrate its superior performance over orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA).

Development and testing of an indoor VLC simulator 室内VLC模拟器的开发与测试

This work reports the development of a MATLAB® simulation tool for the indoor VLC channel characterization. In addition to the evaluation of the light level and the impulse responses in any point of the simulation volume, the modeling of the various sources of disturbance (sunlight, skylight, general illumination devices and interfering ones) is also specifically addressed. The accuracy of the predictions was verified by comparing the simulator outcomes with a set of measurements carried out in a furnished office.

Non-line-of-sight ultraviolet communications over atmospheric turbulence channels 大气湍流信道上的非视距紫外通信

Ultraviolet (UV) communication enables non-line-of sight (NLOS) outdoor wireless connectivity and is particularly desirable to relax or eliminate pointing and tracking requirements of infrared links. In the current literature, atmospheric turbulence effects are typically ignored under the assumption of short link distances and clear weather conditions. In this paper, we address the statistical modeling of turbulence experienced in NLOS UV links. We assume that the NLOS link consists of two line-of-sight (LOS) paths each of which experiences log-normal distributed fading. We obtain a closed-form expression for the probability density function of turbulence induced fading. Based on the derived expression, we investigate bit error rate performance for different system configurations. Numerical simulations are further presented to confirm the accuracy of our derivation.

Modeling of high-capacity aeronautical Communication Networks with free-space optical links 具有自由空间光链路的大容量航空通信网络建模

Airborne Communication Networks have been discussed in civilian and military contexts. However, radio-frequency-based implementations of large-scale, ad hoc networks are hindered by regulatory restrictions and are fundamentally limited in capacity potentials. Therefore, free-space optical communication is an important technology option for such networks, due to the large available bandwidth and unregulated spectrum. Here we present statistical data from an airborne communication network simulation model, discuss possible performance requirements on free-space optical components for airborne networks, and discuss the implications of network topology and communication range on network statistics.

Multi-band carrier-less amplitude and phase modulation with decision feedback equalization for bandlimited VLC systems 带限VLC系统的多频带无载波振幅和相位调制与决策反馈均衡

This paper presents simulation results that show the principle of implementing multi-band carrierless amplitude and phase (m-CAP) modulation enhanced by the decision feedback equalizer (DFE) for a bandlimited visible light communications (VLC) system. When deploying different number of sub-carriers m = {1, 2, 5, 10}, we show the bit error rate (BER) performance of m-CAP over a fixed system bandwidth of 1 Hz with and without a DFE. We show that we can achieve a BER of 10-4 for the m-CAP system for m = {1, 2}, which is well below the 7% and 20% forward error correction (FEC) BER limits of 3.8×10-3 and 2×10-2, respectively.

On the BER of multiple-input multiple-output underwater wireless optical communication systems 多输入多输出水下无线光通信系统的误码率研究

In this paper we analyze and investigate the bit error rate (BER) performance of multiple-input multiple-output underwater wireless optical communication (MIMO-UWOC) systems. In addition to exact BER expressions, we also obtain an upper bound on the system BER. To effectively estimate the BER expressions, we use Gauss-Hermite quadrature formula as well as approximation to the sum of log-normal random variables. We confirm the accuracy of our analytical expressions by evaluating the BER through photon-counting approach. Our simulation results show that MIMO technique can mitigate the channel turbulence-induced fading and consequently, can partially extend the viable communication range, especially for channels with stronger turbulence.
