Physical therapy is a healthcare discipline that is dedicated to help individuals and patients in maintaining their health while optimizing their strength, function, and movements. Pakistan being a developing country, experiences a slower pace in the establishment of advancements in the medical professions. Whereas physical therapy is significantly improving day by day in Pakistan; additionally, this study aims to discuss the advances, in manual therapy concerning the physical therapy profession in Pakistan. This study aimed to evaluate the perception of clinical leadership and its recent advancements concerning the manual physical therapy practice in Pakistan for the preceding year. For this purpose, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 physical therapists from 5 different cities in Pakistan. Physical therapists with at least 10 years of clinical practice were included in the data collection. The interviews were audio/video recorded, data verbatim transcribed, and analyzed manually by open coding and in-vivo coding. Furthermore, thematic analysis was done to identify different elements of recent advancements concerning manual physical therapy by finding the appropriate patterns in the gathered data. The results showed that advancements occurred in the last decade, such as international certifications, workshops, hands-on practice and master programs. There is lack of awareness, gender barriers, and financial constraints in adopting new advancements. The focus was shifted more toward muscle energy technique and myofascial release. Modalities were preferred in the past for pain relief; however, in the recent decade, they have been replaced by manual therapy techniques. Pain management and prognosis are better with manual therapy. These advancements will be cost-effective for the patient. This study concluded that manual therapy in Pakistan has undergone a significant transformation during the last preceding years. There is still great potential for more advancement in manual therapy techniques in Pakistan.

The current study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Kinesio Taping (KT) and Mulligan Mobilization with Movement (MWM) in conjunction with conventional physical therapy for sub-acute lateral ankle sprain in football players. For this purpose, a total number of 30 participants were randomly assigned to either the KT group or the MWM group. Furthermore, pain, disability, and functional capabilities were assessed using the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) and the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) before and after a 4-week intervention. The results showed that MWM with conventional physical therapy was more effective in relieving pain and improving mobility, strength, and functional status as compared to KT with conventional physical therapy. The study also suggested that MWM is a more beneficial treatment for footballers with a sub-acute lateral ankle sprain.

The hip joint is a ball and socket joint that supports body weight and is responsible for locomotion. Hip replacement surgery is mostly performed when hip pain significantly impedes daily life activities and when non-surgical treatments are ineffective in certain cases. The most common cause of hip replacement is damaged hip joint, which can cause arthritis. Therefore, physical therapy after the replacement surgery of major joints is generally considered helpful for a good prognosis. However, if the patients are given the usual care recommended by the surgeons, the patients recover in the same manner as they do with the physical therapy sessions or the physical therapy usually accelerates the recovery process and prevents future complications. Thus, the current study provides a comprehensive of the recovery of patients who have undergone hip arthroplasty, with or without physical therapy training programs.

The disability which occurs frequently in children is known as cerebral palsy (CP). Its prevalence in Pakistan is much higher and about 2 to 3 out of every 1000 children are diagnosed with CP, which affectstheirfunctional status of life to a greater extent. The objective of the current study was to determine the association of CP child's behavior with caregiver's stress level. The current study was based on a cross sectional design and itcomprised 159 caregivers of CP child. Among them 100 were males and 59 were females. The study was conducted within the time period from December 2016 to May 2017. A convenience sampling technique was used and subjects were selected from different hospitals and rehabilitation centers of Lahore, Pakistan on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria after taking informed consent. The two standardized “parental stress scale” and “strength difficulty questionnaire” helped to determine the level of stress and caregiver' burden. The data was analyzed using SPSS v20. The frequency was calculated to obtain mean values of caregiver stress and behavior of CP child using PSS and SDQ. P value ≤ .05 was considered statistically significant. The Pearson correlation (r) between PSS and SDQ data was r₌ 0.63, which showed a strong positive linear correlation between the two variables, that is, CP child behavior & caregiver stress level. It indicated that both variables increased or decreased together. The behavior of CP child affects the quality of life of parents and caregivers. The study concluded that there is a strong relationship between the CP child's behavior with the caregiver’s stress level.

Chronic musculoskeletal conditions encompass a variety of disorders and impairments, some of which include chronic low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, fibromyalgia, tendonitis, osteoporosis, and so on. Electrotherapy refers to the use of electrical modalities in order to treat such conditions in physiotherapy. This non-pharmacological treatment equipment, such as, transcutaneous electrical stimulation, interferential therapy, shortwave diathermy, and LASER (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation), may or may not have profound effects on the aforementioned conditions. The purpose of this review article was to investigate and summarize the role of electrotherapy in order to manage chronic disorders and hence, try to quantify its magnitude while updating previous relevant knowledge on this particular topic. The design of the current study was based on a narrative review. A total of 58 studies were consulted. According to the inclusion criteria of the current research, studies published within last five years treating chronic musculoskeletal diseases, using electrotherapy modalities were included. However, any study more than five years’ time period was excluded. The primary hypothesis of this study suggested that the electrotherapy carries significant effect to treat chronic musculoskeletal conditions. According to the secondary hypothesis, there exists no relationship between electrotherapy modalities and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
