Musculoskeletal infection in children exhibits a wide range of conditions and clinical presentations, which can occur singly or in combination, including complex or systemic forms. These conditions include osteomyelitis (acute, subacute, and chronic), discitis, septic arthritis, abscess, cellulitis. The clinical presentation of children with any of these conditions may have sufficient similar characteristics to create from an initial diagnosis of dilemma up to a complete history; physical examination, laboratory tests, plain radiographs, and advanced imaging can be performed. A wide variety of medical specialties is often involved in the evaluation and treatment of such conditions. The link between the orthopedics and infectology services is essential to achieve the best results in these patients. The treatment of chronic osteomyelitis is challenging, and extensive clinical experience is essential to adequately address this serious complication in pediatric patients. Consequently, the objective of this study is to narrate our experience and present results of the treatment of this pathology, using cryosurgery and bioactive glass. The case of ulna osteomyelitis in a 17-year-old patient is presented.

Solutions to address the global burden of musculoskeletal trauma in Latin America require not only financial resources and clinical research infrastructure, but also non-clinical leadership capacity-building for orthopaedic surgeons. Recognizing the impact that leadership development training has on improving patient outcomes and performance of healthcare organizations, orthopaedic surgeons in Latin America could greatly benefit from these opportunities. Yet, formal training or opportunities to attend such programs, particularly in countries with limited resources, largely do not exist. Most of the literature describing leadership programs is concentrated on high-income countries (HICs), specifically in North America and Europe. As a result of this discrepancy, the network of orthopaedic trauma surgeons, Asociación de Cirujanos Traumatólogos de las Américas (ACTUAR), developed curricula for a novel Leadership Development Program (LDP) for Latin American orthopaedic surgeons. This paper describes the delivery of the one-day LDP delivered to forty orthopaedic trauma surgeons at the 30 th Annual Federación Mexicana de Colegios de Ortopedia y Traumatología (FEMECOT) Congress in Hermosillo, México on October 31, 2019.

The systematic review is a publication of secondary source, that is, it summarizes the information of primary articles, however it is necessary that the elaboration process is described in a transparent and understandable way, from the collection of articles, the criteria of the articles and the analysis of the results, to make it systematic. We can make a review of a topic without it being systematic, the difference is always the degree of evidence, the meta-analysis is the statistical analysis of two or more studies, these articles do not come from a systematic review, nor do all systematic reviews have meta-analysis. Systematic review is a scientific investigation that attempts to answer a research question. The elaboration process can be divided into simple stages, but it is important to show what was done in the study as well as the search dates. 1. Define the research question, 2. Establish eligibility criteria, 3. Establish the search strategy, 4. Analyze the bias and the results of the chosen studies, and 5. Interpretation and presentation of the results.
