Genetic Algorithm Assisted Dual Diversity Smart Antenna with Triple-COLD Array for QPSK Communication System QPSK通信系统中遗传算法辅助双分集三冷阵列智能天线

A dual (polarization and spatial) diversity smart antenna using Triple co-centered orthogonal loop and dipole (Triple-COLD) array is presented. It exploits polarization diversity to support more users in spatial diversity scenario when users are very close to each other in terms of their arrival angles. There are six co-located elements in a single Triple-COLD element, which provide six polarization degrees of freedom with space saving. Array weights are determined directly to minimize the bit error rate (BER) using genetic algorithm (GA) alternate to conjugate gradient (CG) method, using adaptive minimum BER approach, for QPSK modulation scheme. GA is capable of approaching the MBER solution at a lower complexity than CG algorithm.

Distributed 6D Vector Antennas Design for Direction of Arrival Applications 面向到达方向的分布式6D矢量天线设计

We present a six-dimensional distributed vector sensor for Direction of Arrival estimation applications. A vector sensor should measure all 6 components of the electromagnetic field at the same location. Such sensor is motivated by recent analytical results, showing an improved estimation of the direction of arrival of the signal from a single source. Since the design of a collocated six-dimensional vector sensor is presently a major challenge, we consider a distributed approach for its design. Numerical simulations show that the performance of a distributed vector sensors in a multipath environment is greater than that of classical approaches with scalar arrays.

Applications of the Finite Element Method to Designing Composite Metamaterials 有限元法在复合材料超材料设计中的应用

We outline a fabrication and characterization process for composite materials exhibiting uniaxial anisotropy. Our proof-of-concept sample consists of alternating layers of high-contrast homogeneous dielectrics. We describe a finite element-based cavity measurement method to accurately characterize effects of adhesive loss in these assembled samples. In the latter half of the paper, we introduce a genetic optimization algorithm to design fairly complex composite material textures exhibiting unique field characteristics and dispersion. We conclude by proposing a methodology to design and fabricate metamaterial textures made of commercially available homogeneous ingredients. The automated design process is conjugated by automated fabrication of these designs using advanced material processing techniques such as low temperature co-fired ceramic processing, inkjet material printing, and robo-casting.

Enhancement of the Focusing Properties of a Passive Radiometry Imaging System: A Theoretical Electromagnetic Study 增强被动辐射成像系统聚焦特性的理论电磁研究

A non-invasive imaging system, consisting of an ellipsoidal conductive cavity and radiometric receivers, designed and constructed in our laboratory the past few years is restudied. A means for further improvement of the ellipsoidal reflector's focusing properties thus its performance is herein investigated. The main differentiating factor of our new approach is that the receiving antenna is more realistically modelled and also covered by two layers of different dielectric properties. The present paper provides details on the electromagnetic theoretical analysis of the problem and presents numerical results for the electric field distribution inside the head model, using two main operating frequencies, namely 0.5GHz and 1.5GHz for four distinct cases. The focusing optimization of the system in terms of spatial accuracy and penetration depth is assessed while the method and results are also separately validated.

Properties and Applications of the Suburban Vehicle-to-Vehicle Propagation Channel at 5.9 GHz 5.9 GHz城郊车对车传播信道的特性与应用

We describe a system capable of making channel measurements as a function of location while the vehicles are in motion to study the properties of the vehicle-to-vehicle wireless channel. We present results from on-road experimental tests in suburban areas of Pittsburgh. The dependence of Doppler spread on both velocity and vehicle separation is discussed. We introduce the speed-separation (S-S) diagram as a new tool for understanding and estimating Doppler spread in the vehicle-to-vehicle environment.

Multi-Objective Synthesis of Multiband Planar Antennas in Time Domain 时域多波段平面天线的多目标综合

The paper is focused on the multi-objective optimization of multiband antennas. The prescribed frequency response of the reflection coefficient at the antenna input, the maximum gain in the operation bands and the minimum volume of the antenna are the objectives considered in the optimization procedure. Since the wide-band analysis of the multiband antenna is performed in the time domain, the objective functions are composed without frequency domain expressions. That way, an efficient and accurate synthesis tool can be obtained.

Convergence Study of a Non-Standard Schwarz Domain Decomposition Method for Finite Element Mesh Truncation in Electromagnetics 电磁学有限元网格截断非标准Schwarz域分解方法的收敛性研究

A convergence study of a non-standard Schwarz domain decomposition method for finite element mesh truncation in electromagnetics has been carried out. The original infinite domain is divided into two overlapping domains. The interior finite domain is modeled by finite elements and the exterior infinite domain by an integral equation representation of the field. A numerical study of the spectrum of the iteration matrix for non-convex mesh truncation boundaries is performed. The projection of the error between two consecutive iterations onto the eigenvector space of the iteration matrix is performed. The numerical results explain the convergence behavior of the Schwarz iterations.
