This article aims to present the results from a study conducted by a research project titled: "The prerequisites for professional development of students of" Tourism "at the University of Economics in Varna within the tourist area Varna (North Black Sea Coast) and tourist district Burgas (Southern Black Sea Coast) ". The paper shows the attitude of the students majoring in "Tourism" at the University of Economics in Varna to the overall process of conducting professional practical training (internship) in the specialty.

The research aims at presenting a reasoned theory outlining some ideas for changes in the system of higher education (HE) in Bulgaria. The starting point is from the leading initiatives which shape the European framework for the development of HE in the European Union (EU). Conclusions of Bulgarian researchers about the present state of the Bulgarian HE are referred to. The relation between HE and the labour market in Bulgaria is discussed. Based on some ideas shared by other authors, suggestions are made for cognitive-methodological, organizational-managerial, human resource and financial changes.

The main aim of present study is to consider the advantages and disadvantages of containers as a major transport unit in maritime transport and to outline the current dimensions of international container transport, on the basis of which to draw conclusions about their development. In order to achieve this objective, a theoretical overview of the advantages and disadvantages of containers as the main transport unit in maritime transport has been carried out, in a dynamic plan are studied data measuring the main parameters of international container transport and trends in their development have been uncovered. On this basis, conclusions are formulated regarding the development of international container transport during the observed period.

Considering all positive and negative characteristics, its creative and destructive effects, the dynamic advance of digitalization and globalization in the last decade has dramatically changed the world we live in. The business environment has been modified, the social system has been transformed. People, have definitely changed, their values, mindset and lifestyle, their consumption mode have altered, too. The paper focuses on some key characteristics of modern consumers; their connectivity, mobility, high level of awareness and expertise, aspirations to access, omnichannel behaviour, their activity in the social networks. All this has modified the decision-making process. Consumer' journey to purchase becomes more complex and more social which is evident in the reviewed decision-making models concerning the modern connected consumers.

Blockchain technology is in the early stage of its development, but there’s consensus about its potential. The technology is at an inflection point, with momentum shifting from “blockchain tourism” and exploration to the building of practical business applications. Tourism industry and blockchain have the possibility to become a powerful combination as the technology can bring safety and transparency of transactions. This article aims to examine the features of blockchain as an innovative technology and to present its more important advantages and applied aspects in the field of tourism. There are a growing number of emerging disruptors across travel industry, challenging traditional business models with the use of blockchain. Given some of the blockchain technology’s characteristics and possibilities, this article is pointed towards important applications within the tourism.
