Determining the static deflection of slender members subjected to transverse loading is a classical problem in engineering mechanics. In undergraduate engineering courses, the treatment of the topic is commonly restricted to the linear Euler-Bernoulli beam model covered by almost all textbooks on solid mechanics or strength of materials. Students are typically requested to determine solutions to various support and loading conditions by applying either the direct integration method or the method of superposition. Even though this process of repeated application undoubtedly trains procedural skills, it appears to be a rather cumbersome way towards conceptual understanding. The contribution at hand proposes a unified solution based on Taylor series expansion in combination with Macaulay's method of handling discontinuities, which is shown to be easily applicable to both statically determined and statically over-determined beam problems. Mechanics lecturer involved in undergraduate engineering education may regard the presented solution framework as an effective way to provide a profound insight into linear beam theory.

Globalization affected the world's labor markets and economy, which created new criteria and expectations for the employment of graduates. Engineering graduates are critical for today's global employment market, and in the current conditions, many industries look for engineering graduates who can work in multinational teams without any cross-temporal, geographical, and disciplinary boundaries. However, both engineering industries and universities play a crucial role in guaranteeing the employment of graduates. This study was conducted to gain insights from academia and industry perspectives on the global competencies of engineering graduates. The respondents who took part in this study are among the educational stakeholders and leaders of a Thai university engineering program and multinational Thai companies that are based in Thailand. Overall, the findings of this study highlight the critical global competencies required by global engineering industries as well as the perspectives of many universities of these competencies.

Our approach endeavors to adequately integrate distance-learning platforms MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) into the administration system ruling the Moroccan universities. First, we give an overview of Moroccan projects about ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), and reveal the reasons behind the necessity of MOOC to deal with various educational and pedagogical problems. Second, we make a first study on all Moroccan universities to verify the use of ICT for education and then we identify four main categories. Third, a second study is investigated to assess the MOOC's implementation in the concerned universities according to numerous criteria. Fourth, we present a synthesis of two experiences on hybrid learning (face-to-face and distance) for the benefit of Moroccan university learners. Finally, we emphasize several recommendations to fulfill for a successful MOOC's integration in Moroccan universities.

Brain Computer Interface (BCI) is a powerful tool to assist people. In this paper we work on interpreting motor imagery tasks. We propose a model based on estimating statistical parameters of the Electroencephalography (EEG) signal and using these as features. We then feed the features vector to a multi-class Support Vector Machine (SVM) for classification. Promising results were obtained by testing the proposed model on the publicly available BCI competition 2008 dataset. An average classification rate of 90.2% and a kappa result of 0.86 were achieved. The kappa result is considered a very good agreement. We further show an application for animating characters using the classification output from the EEG signals.

China has entered the stage of universal higher education in 2019. As an essential space support, the design of new campus and the renewal of existing campus have become important topics. University Campus contains complex and diverse functional space, supporting students, teachers and other different groups of people's life and learning activities, from the perspective of human-oriented, this research set out with the aim to quantitively measure and understand the function design strategies. The research introduced the "social space perspective" theory, collected the usage frequency of different campus function spaces from students, teachers and residents around the campus through questionnaires, And the data obtained was input into the Gephi software for social network analysis. The different function spaces of the university campus were taken as nodes to calculate their weighted degree and betweenness centrality. The distribution law of important function nodes was summarized and three design strategies of campus functional space were put forward, including systematic design strategy of the function to meet the different requirements, intensive design strategy for core function spaces and decentralized design strategy for service function spaces.

The government is increasing the development of toll road infrastructure to improve connectivity between regions in the context of economic growth. But the government faces limited funding. Therefore, the government made a PPP scheme to fill the financial gap. But what happened was the existence of toll road PPP obstacles in various regions in Indonesia. Multiple studies have identified the success of toll road PPP, but cultural factors have never discussed as factors that have an essential role in determining the success of PPP. Cultural factors play a role in determining behavior in making decisions. Therefore, this study proposes a conceptual framework of the part of cultural factors in determining the success of toll road PPP with the AHP approach.

The reason was because the TPB can create better models to predict more complex and particular behavior patterns than general behavioral theories can. It can decompose belief into several constructs to help understand which factors had greater influences on behavioral intention.
