Low cost millimeter wave duplexer design using mixed mode-matching and integral contour methods 基于混合模式匹配和积分轮廓法的低成本毫米波双工器设计

A millimeter wave H-plane duplexer using E-plane filters has been designed. T-junction is used for connecting the channel filters compensated by cylindrical post and analyzed by integral contour method. Moreover the junction discontinuity effects have been taken into account. The combination of filters and compensated T-junction allows for low-cost manufacturing. The E-plane filters are analyzed separately, by mode matching method. The scattering parameters of the combination of filters and T-junction are obtained. The diameter and position of the compensating rod and length of T arms are optimized to achieve desired performance. This procedure saves time and memory in computations. The 38 GHz duplexer has been built and tested. The theory has been verified by measurement.

Terahertz detection using electro-optic effect in a ZnTe layered structure 利用电光效应在ZnTe层状结构中进行太赫兹探测

In this work, a layered structure of ZnTe slabs separated by air-gaps is used to detect terahertz pulses. The structure which can be considered as a periodic structure is operating close to its stop-band edge where the transmission of the optical signal is attenuated. Applying the terahertz signal will vary the refractive index of the ZnTe slabs of the periodic structure due to the electro-optic effect in ZnTe. Consequently, the stop-band will shift in the presence of the terahertz signal. Hence, the intensity of the transmitted optical signal is modulated by the terahertz pulse, thus the terahertz signal can be detected. To examine the performance of the proposed detector, a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) analysis is employed so that the nonlinear processes involved in the ZnTe slabs can be taken into account rigorously. Performance of the proposed structure will be compared with that of the conventional detectors based on a single ZnTe layer.

Optimization and fully distributed analysis of traveling wave switches at millimeter wave frequency band 毫米波频段行波开关的优化与全分布分析

In this paper, a fully distributed model for a traveling wave switch is introduced and important parameters of the switch such as insertion loss, isolation, and return loss are presented. The results of fully distributed model are compared with the results of the semi-distributed model. These results have good agreement with semi-distributed results. By using the fully distributed model and adjusting the switch length and operating frequency, various switch parameters are calculated. The optimum switch length and operating frequency are calculated versus the switch parameters especially the isolation and the return loss in off and on conditions.

Application of wavefront decomposition to ray tube tracing 波前分解在射线管追踪中的应用

This paper applies the method of decomposition of wavefronts to ray tube tracing model. Energy ray tubes which are emitted from the source are modeled by three rays and the method of decomposition of wavefronts iteratively improves the accuracy of ray tracing. Comparison with applying the method of decomposition of wavefronts to conventional ray tracing is made afterwards. It is observed that by applying the method of decomposition of wavefronts to ray tube model, the accuracy of ray tracing can be improved much more efficiently and the simulation time decreases to almost a half.

Time domain analysis of transmission line using FDTD excited by modulated signal 调制信号激励的时域有限差分传输线时域分析

In this paper, an unconditionally stable algorithm for time domain analysis of multiconductor transmission line using finite- difference time- domain (FDTD) is proposed. The results of the proposed algorithm are verified with the Leap-Frog algorithm. The complex phasor method is applied to multiconductor transmission line when the transmission line is extracted by modulated signal. The extracted equation is solved using the unconditionally stable formula. The results of the new equation are compared with the results of transmission line equation solved using Leap-Frog algorithm. Whereas the CPU time of the proposed method is very lower than the conventional method, the results of proposed method has a good agreement with the results of conventional method.

Analysis and modelling of novel band stop and band pass millimeter wave filters using defected microstrip structure (DMS) 基于缺陷微带结构(DMS)的新型带阻带通毫米波滤波器分析与建模

This paper presents novel millimeter wave filter structures by creation of some slots on the strip. These slots perform a serious LC resonance property in certain frequency and suppress the spurious signals. In high frequencies and high density applications, the board area is seriously limited, so using these filters; the circuit area is minimized. The proposed filters are compact and very suitable for high density MMIC circuits.

Channel characterization is an important step in the design of wireless communication systems. While channel sounding procedures are a useful method in determining channel behavior, they also require expensive and time consuming procedures and equipment. Ray tracing has been an important substitute for measurement in deterministic channel modeling and characterization of the wireless channel. Much has been done to improve the precision and efficiency of this method for lower frequency bands (generally below 5 GHz) over the years. Recently, with the worldwide announcement of a broad unlicensed band in the millimeter wave spectrum around 60 GHz, a great amount of attention has been paid to this frequency band, previously considered un-utilizable ([1, 2]). However some basic dissimilarity between the 60 GHz and UHF bands has brought about the need for modification of the methods previously used. In this paper the focus has been placed on two propagation mechanisms: diffraction and rough surface scattering, and the impact of each on over-all channel response predictions have been investigated.

Analysis of high frequency effects in the intrinsic part of nano-metre scale MOS devices in millimeter wave band 毫米波波段纳米级MOS器件本征部分高频效应分析

Distributed effects may appear in active devices in mm-wave CMOS integrated design. In this paper we have analyzed the distributed effects in the intrinsic MOS transistor. Non-quasi static effect has been reviewed and its importance in mm-wave band has been demonstrated by simulations in the foundry design kit for STMicroelectronics 90nm CMOS technology. The distributed effect of MOS transistor has been analyzed and modeled and closed form equations have been derived to calculate Y parameters of the transistor, considering the distributed nature of the transistor. Analysis results are in excellent agreement with the simulation results. The results show that by using the strategy of double connection to the gate finger the distributed effects can be avoided in millimeter wave band.

Modified active mixer architecture is presented in this paper which improves the gain and noise figure of the mixer considerably. The architecture of the mixer allows wide band operation from very low frequencies up to millimeter - wave regime. Time-domain analysis of wavelength shift in a ZnTe slab due to electro-optic effect in THz 太赫兹电光效应引起的ZnTe板波长位移的时域分析

In this research, propagation of an optical signal through a ZnTe slab which shows electro-optic (EO) effect for terahertz frequencies is analyzed. We assume that the optical signal and the terahertz modulating signal are simultaneously present in the ZnTe slab. The slab is modeled by its nonlinear susceptibility in a one-dimensional Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) formulation. Using the FDTD analysis, we demonstrate that the optical signal will experience a frequency shift in the presence of the terahertz signal. The frequency shift predicted by this method of analysis is in agreement with a recently reported experiment.
