A synthesis approach for time-delay systems 时滞系统的一种综合方法

A systematic approach to the synthesis of a stabilizing controller for two classes of SISO time-delay type systems is given. Both state feedback and dynamic output feedback synthesis techniques are described. The class of time-delay systems considered can be realized using finite-dimensional state-space techniques with perturbations in the matrices of the system state model such that some known techniques from robust control theory can be applied. The obtained stabilizing controllers are finite-dimensional and of H/sub infinity /-type.<>

AR( infinity ) estimation and nonparametric stochastic complexity AR(∞)估计与非参数随机复杂性

Let H* be the transfer function of a linear stochastic system such that H* and its inverse are in H infinity (D). Writing the system as an AR( infinity ) system, the best AR(k) approximation of the system is estimated using the method of least squares. Then the effect of undermodeling and parameter uncertainty (due to estimation) on prediction, and the optimal choice of k are investigated. The result is applied to the AR approximation of ARMA-systems.<>

Gauge control system for a hot strip finishing mill 带钢热轧机厚度控制系统

A gauge control system for a hot strip finishing mill based on optimal regulator theory has been developed. The control objective is to minimize finisher exit strip thickness deviation resulting from temperature disturbance and other factors. A linearized mathematical model, valid for the fluctuations about the steady-state operating point, was derived. Then, the stability condition of the conventional gauge control system was derived. As a result, a novel system with greater response for interstand strip tension control was required. In order to improve the strip gauge accuracy, a multivariable compensator based on optimal regulator theory was introduced. Simulation studies and experimental results show that this gauge control system with the multivariable compensator is superior to the conventional gauge control system in terms of strip gauge control accuracy.<>

Probabilistic characterization of chaotic behavior in a family of feedback control systems 一类反馈控制系统混沌行为的概率表征

The authors investigate a family of two-dimensional nonlinear feedback systems which do not satisfy the Lipschitz continuity condition and exhibit chaotic behavior. The geometric Poincare map. is determined analytically and a bifurcation study in terms of two canonical parameters and the associated asymptotic behavior of the systems are presented. Ergodic theory of one-dimensional dynamic systems is used to derive a probabilistic description of the chaotic motions inside the chaotic attractor. It is shown that the chaotic motion is isometric to an experiment of randomly tossing an uneven die.<>

Dynamic scheduling and control in queuing networks are addressed. A two-station queuing network with two types of jobs is studied. Type 1 jobs visit stations, 1 and 2 in sequence, and type 2 jobs visit station 1 only. The problem is to control the (external) arrival processes and the service processes, as well as to schedule the server at station 1 among the two types of jobs. The objective is to minimize a discounted cost function over an infinite time horizon. The approach is based on stochastic intensity representation of point processes. The problem is divided into several cases, each corresponding to a certain parameter range. Optimal control and scheduling are derived for some cases. For the other cases, conjectures for the optimality of certain simple threshold policies are presented.<>

The problem of l/sub 1/-optimal deconvolution with stable predictor polynomials is addressed. It is shown that the problem of l/sub 1/ deconvolution can be formulated as a standard model-matching problem that can be solved using some results from the literature. The authors consider how to stabilize the resulting predictor polynomial in the event that it is unstable. Two equivalent existence conditions which indicate when it is possible to stabilize the predictor are presented. The Nehari theorem is then used to give a procedure to find a filter whose first M coefficients match those of the l/sub 1/-optimal filter, but which will exhibit a stable predictor polynomial.<>

Large-scale systems with symmetrically interconnected subsystems: analysis and synthesis of decentralized controllers 具有对称互联子系统的大型系统:分散控制器的分析与综合

A number of large-scale interconnected systems often encountered in practice are composed of subsystems with similar dynamics interconnected in a symmetrical fashion, and the synthesis of controllers for such systems must exploit the special structural properties in order to avoid overly conservative designs and to take advantage of the possible beneficial effects of the interconnections. An analysis of some important qualitative properties of such symmetrically interconnected systems focusing on the spectrum characterization, controllability, and observability and the solutions of the algebraic Riccati equation and the matrix Lyapunov equation are presented. Procedures for constructing the solutions to the analysis problems at the overall system level from the computationally simple subsystem level solutions are developed. A decentralized controller design procedure is presented as an illustration of the utilization of the available structural information in addressing synthesis problems. Numerical examples are included to demonstrate the superiority of the designs over existing approach which do not take full advantage of the structural knowledge of these large-scale systems.<>

The design of a discrete-time model reference robust adaptive control system for a plant in the presence of bounded disturbances is investigated. The system uses a robust adaptive algorithm with multiple regularization parameters. This algorithm belongs to the class of leaky integration methods; thus the designed regularization parameters correspond to sigma in the sigma -modification approach. It is shown how to determine these regularization parameters theoretically such that minimization of the parameter error is attained in the presence of the disturbances, and it is not necessary for the upper bound of the disturbances to be known a priori. Furthermore, persistent spanning is ensured, regardless of the size of the disturbance.<>

Adaptive control of finite unknown Markov chains is considered. A new performance criterion from the theory of bandit processes has recently been introduced for adaptive control of Markov chains. The new performance criterion is stronger than the expected average cost criterion and is more appropriate when the identifiability condition does not hold. An adaptive controller is derived to achieve optimality for a modified version of the new performance criterion.<>
