The automotive industry is currently working to accommodate the conflicting requirements of both environmental legislation and customer demands for greater performance and more luxury and safety features, by developing a light-weight and therefore essentially, energy-efficient vehicle. To satisfy these demands, various materials are used in car body production. But it is not always possible to join these materials by common joining method such as resistance spot welding; therefore clinching seems to be possible alternative. The paper dealt with the evaluation of properties of joints made by clinching. The sheets made of the high-strength low-alloy steel H220PD (a0 = 0.8 mm), advanced high strength steel RA-K 40/70+Z100MBO (a0 = 0.77 mm) and the drawing grade steel DX51D+Z (a0 = = 0.9 mm) were used for the experiments. The following tests were performed to evaluate the properties of the clinched joints: tensile test and a metallographical analysis.

This paper presents the numerical method for the determination of the average heat transfer coefficient in fin-and-tube heat exchanger. The air side Nusselt number formulas are determined via the CFD simulation based method. The path of the gas flow across the inter-tubular space of this heat exchanger is complex, therefore the CFD simulations are used to determine the velocity distributions and the temperature field of air. The results of the numerical computations are compared with the Nusselt number formula based on the experimental data, which were obtained during the test of the car radiator. Good agreement between the numerical results and the results based on the measurements is achieved.

The article is strongly related to the Single Europ ean Sky ATM Research (SESAR) project. The project’s objective is the improvement of air transport above Europe 0. Since Air Traffic Management (ATM) is involved to o btain more effective approach to air traffic flow managing activities, the concep t of Flexible Use Airspace (FUA) has arisen in result. ATM is a quite developed avia tion’s subdomain, therefore currently existing airspace state has been described b ri fly in the article, referring to the presented solution concept. The notion of Free Route Airspace (FRA) airspace model defined in this article relies on mathematica l description. The selected approach clarifies airspace as a set of squares or cubes that have volumes with appointed values due to certain conditions in the c onsidered time (i.e. traffic flow or weather). The model has to ensure facilitation o f flight route planning and warrant aircrafts separation towards flight safety assuranc e. The concept assumes that this airspace model will provide assistance for airspace user to select essential flight plan criteria, such as economy, time, etc. The path will be appointed according to personal preferences, based on the model from which fu rt er elaborated algorithm will evaluate situation. The presented solution is a response to air traffic growth. Therefore it supports the SESAR project through research and development activ ities. The description proves that airspace model would create enhancement in fli ght planning for airspace users.

This paper presents the results of experimental inv estigation of thermophysical properties of material manufactured with 3D printing t echnology with the use of fused deposition modelling (FDM) method. Cylindrically sha ped samples with a diameter of 50.8 mm and with various fill density (from 10 t o 100%) were prepared. The investigated material was PLA (polylactic acid, pol ylactide). The investigation was carried out in order to determine the density, ther mal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and specific heat of tested material. The ma in aim of this paper was to determine the influence of fill density on thermal condu ctivity. The results can be useful in designing thermal insulation manufactured with r apid prototyping methods, operating in relative low temperature conditions (< 10 0°C).

The work contains the results of experimental researches and numerical simulations of friction test that simulate the friction conditions in drawbead during sheet metal forming. The numerical model of the drawbead friction simulator test has been created using MSC.Marc + Mentat 2010. Simulations have been performed to determine a stress state in pulled sample during the drawbead simulator test. The isotropic and two anisotropic Hill (1948) and Barlat (1991) material models were used in simulations taking into consideration sample orientation according to the rolling direction of the sheet. The samples for friction tests were cut along and transverse to the rolling direction of the sheet. It was found that the yield criterion has a strong influence on the distribution and the value of normal and shear stresses in the sample. Furthermore, the values of analyzed stresses were changed in the sample width.
