A Resource-Aware Pairing Device Framework for Ubiquitous Cloud Applications 面向无处不在的云应用的资源感知配对设备框架

With the increasing capability of today's smart devices such as smart phones, tablets, TV Set-top-boxes, along the growing Cloud service offers, we see the rising opportunity to bring ubiquitous services to consumers. A device framework that aims to ease the inter-connectivity of local devices and make them aware of surrounding resources is proposed to bring better user experience within physical environments. A prototype implementation has been developed to evaluate the proposed concepts and demonstrate example use cases.

Cloud Computing-Based Building Energy Management System with ZigBee Sensor Network 基于ZigBee传感器网络的云计算建筑能源管理系统

As the Smart Grid is spreading, the importance of BEMS (Building Information Management System) is also increasing. For providing various and high quality services in the existing BEMS, each entity consisting of BEMS is improved. According to coverage area of a building, the number of the entity can be huge so it causes a burden of users. In this paper, we propose the Cloud computing-based BEMS. This system lessens a burden of each entity such as compute and storage resources, and the burden is taken by a centralized server, called System Manager in this paper. Therefore, every entity's performance is minimized, and quality of services maintains.

Moving Application Logic from the Firmware to the Cloud: Towards the Thin Server Architecture for the Internet of Things 将应用逻辑从固件转移到云端:面向物联网的瘦服务器架构

Unlike traditional networked embedded systems, the Internet of Things interconnects heterogeneous devices from various manufacturers with diverse functionalities. To foster the emergence of novel applications, this vast infrastructure requires a common application layer. As a single global standard for all device types and application domains is impracticable, we propose an architecture where the infrastructure is agnostic of applications and application development is fully decoupled from the embedded domain. In our design, the application logic of devices is running on application servers, while thin servers embedded into devices export only their elementary functionality using REST resources. In this paper, we present our design goals and preliminary results of this approach, featuring the Californium (Cf) CoAP framework.

Anticipating Health Hazards through an Ontology-Based, IoT Domotic Environment 通过基于本体的物联网环境预测健康危害

Embedded intelligence entails a vision of the Internet of Things oriented to "Ambient Intelligence", which can be defined as the capacity to collect and analyze the digital traces left by people when they interact with the environment and with such "intelligent things". In such a vision, the ultimate aim is to acquire knowledge about everyday life and human behavior. We apply these concepts to the automated home, in which even nowadays devices (sensors and actuators) are already Internet-capable "things" endowed with their own intelligence. This work introduces a semantic knowledge representation for domotics following the principles of the semantic Web (Web 3.0). We have implemented specific ontologies that automatically take account of distributed environmental context information. The first result was to achieve a natural abstraction of different, incompatible devices in order to support interoperability in a consistent technology-independent manner and impart awareness to the domestic environment in which "things" such as furniture and other objects, as well as the rooms themselves, take on computational significance. This goal includes leveraging the development of a comprehensive intelligent ecosystem that, by applying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques, gains knowledge of the occupants' behaviors and habits and can thereby adapt itself to the specific setting and anticipate their needs without direct human intervention. The same modeling process serves as the basis for implementation of an e-health system that can anticipate, and thereby prevent, possible health hazards before emergency situations arise (especially for the sick and elderly).

A Fuzzy-Based Cluster-Head Selection System for WSNs: A Comparison Study for Static and Mobile Sensors 基于模糊的WSNs簇头选择系统:静态和移动传感器的比较研究

Cluster formation and cluster head selection are important problems in sensor network applications and can drastically affect the network's communication energy dissipation. However, selecting the cluster head is not easy in different environments which may have different characteristics. In order to deal with this problem, we have proposed a power reduction algorithm for sensor networks based on fuzzy logic and node movement. The proposed system uses 4 input linguistic parameters: Remaining Power of Sensor (RPS), Degree of Number of Neighbor Nodes (D3N), Distance from Cluster Centroid (DCC) and Sensor Speed (SS) for cluster-head decision. We consider for evaluation two cases: when sensors are static and when sensors move. By considering the moving speed of the sensor we are able to predict if the node will leave the cluster. We evaluate the proposed system by simulations and show that it has a good cluster-head selection.

Lazy Monitoring for Distributed Computing Environments 分布式计算环境的延迟监控

Lazy controllers are a class of execution monitors that do not continuously observe the behaviour of their target. Monitors are activated and deactivated according to a scheduling strategy. When a lazy controller is activated, it checks the current security state and, in case of a violation, terminates the execution. Instead, if the current execution trace is safe, the monitor is suspended and its activation is scheduled again. The inactivity period is computed by considering the risk that, from the current state, the target can reach a faulty configuration. This behaviour is particularly interesting for systems which is difficult to monitor with standard solutions, e.g., web services. In this paper we present a prototype using existing logging API, i.e., the Commons Logging Package, for remotely watching the execution of OSGi bundles. We claim that our solution can efficiently follow the target system keeping under control the delay in detecting violations. Also, as we use standard OSGi platform and facilities, we show that our monitors can run under very realistic assumptions in the context of web services.

A Novel Hybrid Approach for Web Caching 一种新的Web缓存混合方法

With the advancement of technology and development of many new applications now a days, the World Wide Web (WWW) suffers from scaling and reliability problems due to overloaded and congested proxy servers. Caching at local proxy servers helps, but cannot satisfy more than a third to half of requests, more requests are still sent to original origin servers. To address this issue, we propose a Hybrid Web Caching Algorithm (HWCA) for managing and searching in the cache of proxy servers. The algorithm uses Hierarchical Web Cache concepts along with static hierarchies with dynamic mechanism of proxy servers. Most of the requests are being satisfied through local proxy servers and very less requests are being fulfilled by remote origin servers. This mechanism keeps the congestion less on the network by using lesser bandwidth as most of the requests are satisfied from local sites. The proposed work is divided into three phases. The first phase is to characterize all the challenges in front of hybrid approach and all its viable study. In second phase, architecture is proposed for implementation of Hybrid Web Cache System. Third phase consists of the proposed algorithm for web caching. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated using hit ratio and latency time of requests depending on varying cache sizes. The results obtained show that the proposed algorithm is effective in comparison to the existing techniques with respect to the above metrics.

This study proposes an energy detection based time synchronization scheme for IR-UWB systems. The proposed synchronization scheme may achieve symbol timing synchronization within a symbol interval. The mean square error (MSE) performance of the proposed scheme is compared with that of the TDLC algorithm, in both residential line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation environments. The proposed time synchronization scheme is appropriate for IR-UWB communications because of its low computation complexity and excellent MSE.

Constrained Application Protocol for Low Power Embedded Networks: A Survey 低功耗嵌入式网络的约束应用协议综述

IPv6 will make it possible to provide Internet connectivity to any object embedding a communication device. In the same line, Web technologies will make managing, communicating and visualizing any information provided by these devices attractive to the end users and application developers. Most of the new devices connected to this Web of Things (WoT) will be embedded and wirelessly connected. However, current Web technologies have been developed with powerful devices in mind not being suited for this kind of constrained environment. In order to make the WoT a reality for low power embedded networks, specialised protocols that consider the energy, memory and processing constraints of wireless embedded devices must be designed. The IETF recently created the CoRE group whose first goal has been developing a Restful application layer protocol for communications within embedded wireless networks referred to as Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP). The year 2011 has seen a big push in the research community towards evaluating the performance and features of CoAP protocol, indicating a growing interest in the community towards Restful interactions in low power wireless embedded networks. This paper analyses those recent advances to provide a clear picture on what has been achieved so far in the evaluation and development of the Constrained Application Protocol.

Global Trends in Workplace Learning 职场学习的全球趋势

The paradigm of human resource development has shifted to workplace learning and performance. An identification of global trends of workplace learning can help us to better connect with workplace learning stakeholders. Using a comprehensive search of 43 contemporary journal, magazine and newspaper articles, this paper reviews and synthesizes global trends in workplace learning in terms of the following five aspects: people/who, approach/how, time/when, place/where and thing/what. Consequently, five main trends are identified as follows: (1) Types of participants and facilitators are diversifying, (2) Emerging approach focus is practice-based systemic learning, (3) The flexibility of learning time has been increasing, (4) Learning by working and learning through systematic instruction at the workplace have been highly appraised, and (5) Workplace learning culture as well as practitioner's active engagement and motivation to learn have become key elements.
