Graphic memoirs have gained a critical attention only after Spiegalman’s foundational work Maus. The merge of images and text produces unique literary experience for the readers. The paper is an attempt to explore the gripping graphic memoirs of Sarah Glidden and Guy Delisle and the emergence of dialogical self and multiple I positions within the text. Dialogical Self theory is a research module that showcases the self expanding its definition. Unlike the Cartesian approach to self that believes its sharp distinction with other. Dialogical Self theory proposes the idea of a heterogeneous and dense self where the self involves in a dialogue with itself. This gives space for multiplicity of voices/narrations within the self and thus bridges the gap between self and other. How to understand Israel in 60 days or less and Jerusalem: chronicles from the holy city are works centered on the pertaining Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The creative format of a comic allows the respective authors to illustrate the different selves in a single panel. It fosters the concept of other as an extended self on the subjective level. The paper investigates how the protagonists Sarah and Delisle go on a trip to Jerusalem and gains a better understanding of themselves and of others.   Keywords: graphic memoirs, dialogical self, multiple I position, self, other, Israeli Palestinian conflict

The Effect of Strategic Awareness on Creative Performance an Analytical Study of The Opinions of Faculty Members at A University Level 战略意识对创新绩效的影响——基于A高校教师意见的分析研究

The current research focused on the correlation and impact between the strategic awareness with its dimensions (expanded awareness, filtering and sensory awareness, human experience, and mental awakening) and the creative performance represented by its dimensions (idea generation, idea promotion, and idea application). The research used a questionnaire with internationally controlled standards as a main tool for data collection. The questionnaire forms were distributed to a sample of (60) teachers distributed over (5) colleges at the University of Al-Muthanna. The research reached several conclusions, including the existence of a significant positive correlation a statistic of the dimensions of strategic awareness collectively and individually in each of the dimensions of creative performance and the relationship of impact in different proportions. It also became clear that the sample members have a desire to have interest from college administrations in rewarding individuals Lead the creators and overcome obstacles to exchange opinions, ideas and information that will enable them to develop themselves and thus their faculties through achieving qualitative innovations. The research recommends that university leaders investigate the best means to attract individuals with high qualifications and develop mechanisms to attract and retain them, and twinning between universities and international organizations in order to raise the creative capabilities of teaching staff.

Validity and Reliability of Needs Analysis Questionnaire for Dyscalculia Instrument 计算障碍仪器需求分析问卷的效度与信度

Dyscalculia is a specific learning difficulty in Mathematics. Intervention instrument is needed to assist the pupils to overcome their learning difficulties during this situation. Thus, this paper presents the evaluation of validity and reliability of a needs analysis questionnaire to investigate the needs to design and develop a dyscalculia instrument. This four-point Likert-type scale questionnaire consisted of 46 items that represented four constructs. The assessment of content validity is done through nine domain experts. Content validity index and Kappa statistics were implemented for content validity. After the validity analysis, one construct with low scale content validity index (S-CVI) and another three items with low item content validity index (I-CVI) and Kappa statistics had been removed. Overall, a number of 13 items had been removed and 33 items had been retained. Subsequently, reliability analysis was done by carrying out a pilot test. During the pilot test, the questionnaire had been implemented among 30 Mathematics teachers to obtain the Cronbach’s Alpha value. One item had been removed after the reliability analysis due to the low value of [corrected item-total correlation] and 32 items were retained. Thereafter, the questionnaire was ready to be used for data collection in the actual study. As stated in the preceding statement, it will assist teachers in identifying problems and planning appropriate interventions to meet the needs of dyscalculic students.

The aim of this paper is to explore how postgraduate students can master higher order thinking skills (HOTS) in academic research writing (ARW) by reviewing other research studies. It also aims to determine how the elements of HOTS such as analysing, synthesizing, and evaluating are important for the courses in academic communities. To achieve this purpose, the paper will explore pedagogical strategies as enlisted in the literature for enhancing students’ skills in academic research writing based on HOTS. Therefore, the findings would provide writing educators with comprehensive overview on how postgraduate students are fully prepared for the advanced tasks of academic research writing.

The Relationship between Job Demands and Positive Emotions on Work Engagement among Academic Staff in Algeria: A Conceptual Paper 阿尔及利亚学术人员工作需求与积极情绪对工作投入的关系:一项概念研究

An organization requires employees that are full of energy and interpersonal trust; they are passionate and enthusiastic about their jobs and are completely focused on their professional objectives. In other words, an organization requires a higher level of work engagement among its employees. As a result, it is becoming increasingly crucial for organizations to design in a way that allows employees to unleash their full potential and become more engaged at work. Organizations also need employees that are emotionally invested in their jobs and willing to go above and beyond to help their organizations succeed. The present study examines the link between job demands, positive emotions, and work engagement using the Broaden-and-Build theory and the job demands-resources model of work engagement. A cross-sectional poll was performed with more than 364 academicians from Algerian public institutions who were chosen using stratified random sampling. The current paper confirms previous findings on the relationship between job demands, positive emotions, and work engagement. The latest study backs up prior research on the link between job demands, positive emotions, and work engagement. As a consequence of these findings, managers may be able to boost employees’ work engagement by focusing on people with lower job demands and more positive emotions.

Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) An Overview 大规模杀伤性武器概述

The international community witnessed a significant development in the field of non-conventional weapons. Nations sought to invent weapons of immense destructive power. This paved the way for an arms race among the supremacy nations. By using doctrinal legal research methodology, this article aims to examine weapons of mass destruction (hereinafter referred to as “WMDs”). For this reason, this article identifies the concepts of WMDs, the nature of WMDs, and the legal perspective of the International Court of Justice (hereinafter referred to as “ICJ”) on the threat or use of WMDs. Primary and secondary data are critically and analytically examined using content analysis method. It is discovered that regardless of the efforts made by the international community to disarm WMDs and avoid their dangers, WMDs suffer from the problem of the domination of superpowers. This article introduced several recommendations to achieve the objectives of the ICJ in providing a safe environment and avoiding the catastrophic impact of using WMDs on the environment.

Christian missionaries started the modern education of women in India and Bengal. After a long journey, women could strengthen their position in education before the partition in 1947. But during the Pakistani period, the advancement of women was somewhat hindered. However, when Bangladesh became independent in 1971, women started coming to educational institutions with a new vigor, which became tremendously visible in the 21st century. Although women achieved equality in secondary education in the second decade of the 21st century, their dropout rate is still alarming. The general purpose of the research work in this regard is to find out the causes of the dropout rate of female students in secondary education in Bangladesh in general and in the context of personal, social, and cultural barriers in particular. Attempts have been made to achieve the goals and objectives of the research by using a mixed-method approach. The results found that personal, social, and cultural issues are equally responsible for female students’ dropping out of secondary education as structural issues. Furthermore, the immediate process of dropping out is child marriage, a socio-cultural disorder. While most studies refer to it as a cause, this study found that it is a process, not a cause. In addition to this, three other factors due to socio-cultural degradation are significant. These are addictions to the virtual world, addiction to illegal affairs (flirting, passion for love, real or purposeful), and addiction to drugs. All the addictions are increasing alarmingly, especially among female students.

Assessing News Literacy Skills between Journalism and Non-Journalism Students in Bangladesh 评估孟加拉国新闻系和非新闻系学生的新闻素养技能

During this Covid situation, the bulk numbers of students have confined themselves to new media more than ever, and their dependency level has already proved how severe this can be in the future. As a consequence of staying tangled with lots of confusing information, students often have to face dilemmas in news and sources. Judging this situation after conducting this study on Journalism and non-Journalism students, the finding uncovers a moderate knowledge level of students in identifying the news quality of a source of information. Normally, Journalism students are thought to be involved with formal media education; nevertheless, this study observes an expectant number of non-Journalism students are wrapping up themselves with media education with endeavors during this pandemic. What is more, this study follows W. J. Potter’s cognitive model of media literacy. With this model, this study digs the news literacy skills among students. In contrast, the study found moderate skills among students in cases of having more conscious mindful thought than automatic thought about the media messages, moderate motivation for news consumption, the satisfactory awareness level of media control and influence, and more trust in news media. But the shocking result is that all students have almost bottom-line knowledge about the media system, including knowledge of the media industry, media content, and media effects. So, all these knowledge gaps ultimately show the poor curriculums where enough practical-based media education is absent. Hence, this study proves the demand for more practical-based media education in all curriculums, especially at the tertiary levels universities in Bangladesh, with more importance.

Factors Influencing the Implementation of Integrated Financial Management Information Systems: Study Focus on Bangladesh 影响综合财务管理信息系统实施的因素:以孟加拉国为研究重点

Background of the study: Integrated Financial Management Information Systems (IFMIS) can help improve public sector management by giving managers real-time financial data to make better decisions. The Bangladeshi Public Service is currently busy with the implementation of an IFMIS. However, implementing IFMIS such a project has proved to be a demanding undertaking and has not been met with resounding success. Objectives of the research: The research is primarily focused to identify the factors influencing the implementation of IFMIS in Bangladesh. Along aside, this paper assesses the influence of technical capacity of staff on implementation of IFMIS in Bangladesh’s public institutions and staff resistance on the deployment of IFMIS. Methodology of the research: The paper draws from two theories in investigating the issues of IFMIS adoption for public financial management. The theories include System Theory and Rodger’s Theory. A simple Random sampling technique is used to collect the information from targeted respondents with a structured questionnaire. Around 80 respondents were selectively targeted. Findings of the research: One of the Major findings of the study is that the governments have a strategic plan that recognizes political, administrative, and capacity limits that were found to be supported by respondents. The study indicates that the government has revised the wage structure to compete with the private sector and to prevent skilled employee turnover. Research shows that employees have the necessary skills and credentials to implement IFMIS. Furthermore, the study looked at how IFMIS deployment is affected by capacity and abilities. Contributions of the research: The results revealed a significant connection between capacity and skills and IFMIS deployment. However, it is found that the infrastructure is central concern for successful IFMIS implementation. Moreover, the government's interaction with the external consultants is seen to be indecisive. Finally, the study recommends that government should uphold the strategic plan that identifies all the constraints and should have detail plan for maintaining its education system's alignment with information technology.

The Indicators of Bad Selection in Private Organizations of Bangladesh 孟加拉国私营机构的不良选择指标

Purpose: The aim of this study is to recognize bad selection or wrongly selected employee in the organization. To do so, a variety of signs or symptoms of bad selection were described and closely reviewed in the literature. Methodology: To quantify and discover various measures of bad selection, this study used survey methodology. Questionnaire was prepared form the construct of the literature review. Cochran's formula was used to determine the adequacy of sample size to find out the authentic result. From various Bangladeshi private organizations, a total of 418 responses were obtained from people who are involved in employee selection process for the 2020-21 year. To analyze the data frequency analysis was done for the close ended questions and content analysis was done for one open ended question. Findings: On an average 6.09 alternatives have been chosen by the respondents from the given list of indicators of wrong hire. The finding also shows some other indicators to recognize bad selection, are offensive demeanors, apathy, and failure to lead. Originality/Value: This research demonstrates that organizations have to be careful about the signs of bad selection or wrong hire. Timely identification of the bad selection can help organization to take remedial steps and mitigate the negative consequences throughout the organization. This research may help organization to understand different indicators of bad selection
