Gain improvement of a sector antenna of base station for mobile phone using microstrip antenna (MSA) array with curved woodpile Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) is presented. The advantages of this proposed antenna are easy fabrication and installation, high gain, and light weight. Moreover, it provides a fan-shaped radiation pattern and wider in the horizontal direction, which appropriate for mobile phone base station. The half-power beam widths in the H-plane and E-plane are 40 and 8 degrees, respectively. The paper also presents the design procedures of a 1×8 array antenna using MSAs associated with U-shaped reflector for decreasing their back and side lobes. A Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software has been used to compute the reflection coefficient (S11), radiation patterns, and gain of this antenna. The bandwidth, at S11 (-10 dB), is enough which can be well utilized for 3G base station, with a gain 20 dB.

A novel design of a dielectric hole plasmonic nanoantenna is proposed and investigated by using a finite element method with three-dimensional calculations. The proposed nanoantenna is composed of two identical hollow nanometal filled dielectric media inside the central part. We examine the influence of the shell thickness, gap width and dielectric media filled inside the hollows on the antenna resonance conditions. Through these simulations, we show that it is possible to tune a plasmonic nanoantenna with a constant length over a broad spectral range.

This paper proposes a smart photovoltaic (PV) generator equipped with the Sugeno fuzzy logic controller (SFLC) for load frequency control (LFC) in a loop interconnected power system. With high computation efficient and without time consuming in defuzzification, the SFLC is used to quickly control the AC power output of the PV inverter so that the system frequency deviation is alleviated. Since the solar insolation change and system frequency deviation are used as the input signals, the SFLC can suitably adapt its control performance. Simulation results in a three-area loop interconnected power system confirm that the PV with the proposed SFLC not only effectively alleviates the fluctuation of system frequency and tie-line power flow, but also supply output power near the maximum power point during frequency control. Besides, the control effect of PV with SFLC is superior to that of the PV with maximum power point tracking control under random solar insolations and load changes.

As known, the integration of Renewable Energy (RE) and Distributed Generation (DG) is increased dramatically at present. This may bring about adverse impacts on electric power grid. Therefore, this paper presents the key issues for the integration of RE/DG into electric power grid, especially in Thailand. The main factors involving in RE/DG impacts on power system is summarized. In addition, the grid code requirements with respect to the mentioned factors are analyzed. Finally, in the discussion, steps for resolving the problem and an example for future consideration are proposed.

Invasive uterine cervical cancer is a prevalent cause of cancer-related mortality and morbidity among women in the developing world. In this paper, a survey of current image segmentation methods and their possible applications to identify Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN) are discussed. Approaches to Cervix image segmentation and analysis are discussed. A very efficient algorithm for segmentation of abnormal regions of cancerous cervical lesions is developed, verified and compared with other existing methodologies. Several image processing methodologies and mathematical operations are exploited and applied to this research work. Although the success of the applied algorithms is highly dependent on the quality of the images used, statistical results regarding the feature extraction, running time and pattern classification are obtained and found to be quite satisfactory. This efficient automatic segmentation and pattern classification methodology will highly append content based image retrieval from database of cervix image and has the potential of playing a significant role to the development of an image-based screening tool for Cervical Cancer.

Many researches in computer arithmetic domain concerns how computational time can be speeded up. They focused on introducing high speed computing techniques. However, the computation may not always produce the exact value. Flexible interval representation system was introduced for solving such problems. Our previous work showed that addition in parallel can be performed in this system by considering the addition of odd and even digits separately. In this paper, we focus on how to improve the algorithm by reducing the number of addition steps. We propose a novel parallel digit-set conversion algorithm which can be used for performing addition together with the proof of correctness for flexible interval representation system.

This paper presents analysis of voltage unbalance impact of EVs charging on a LV distribution system. Simulation model and analysis in DIgSILENT program is divided into three case studies i.e. balance, phase A only and random EVs charging. This impact assessment is based on the PEA's big cities power system planning criteria 2013. Simulation results show that, phase A only charged has the voltage unbalance more than random charged by 3.44 times. In addition, the feeder has voltage unbalance more than LV distribution transformer by 1.47 times. However, it has no effect to voltage unbalance in case of balance charging. In addition, the voltage unbalance ratio and trend rise at all positions in the system and all case studies with all initial values of the system voltage unbalance analysis.

Stock market analysis is very important not only for making profit or averting big losses, but also to recognize the direction of the market. The direction point of the market has significant effects on capital investment, other business cycle issues and socio-economical level of the country. This study proposes a new approach for stock market price prediction using recurrent error based neuro-fuzzy system with momentum (RENFSM). The experiment found that the proposed model can provide superior performance for stock market price prediction than ANFIS and traditional recurrent type ANFIS networks.

This paper presents the method of image texture recognition by Volume Trace Transform-VTT, based on several Trace function. All of 10 trace functions will be selected by the reinforcement learning process and constructed to produce noticeable features. The next process is to sum the results of each function together by “NDFT - Neighbor Discriminant Feature Transform”, this process will all the results from the different positions of image results and construct 2-D histogram. The histogram is evaluated by chi-square statistic test and the process works on the basis of brodatz texture and vision texture database.
