The tèngka tradition that became one of Madura’s social norms containsbehavioural values and is still inherent in their social life. They believethis tradition has created a peaceful, harmonious, humorous society. Thispaper aimed to reveal the values of socio-religious education containedin the tradition and how the internalization process is strongly internalizedinto the lives of the Madurese people. This study uses qualitative methodsand data collection techniques in the form of interviews research with observations, documentation, interviews and literature studies. Thisstudy found that the tradition of tèngka did have wisdom values that areimportant to preserve, mainly as it contained Islamic teachings among thevalues of tèngkawere at-ta’âwun (mutual assistance), cooperation, socialcare, and hospitality. This study also concluded that as local wisdom, thetèngka tradition has a contributive value in the social life of the Maduresepeople, especially in creating a peaceful, harmonious, and prosperous society. This tradition survives and develops because members of the communitycarry out the process of internalization to the next generation in a personal-cognitive recognition, they also carried out in a collective-empirical-recognitionway, and finally by incidental-delegation. There are two crucial implications of this study. First, this study provides an overview of socio-religious values in the tèngka tradition as one of the local wisdom of the Madurese people. Second, this study provides an overview of the pattern of preserving local wisdom in globalization.

The heterogeneous, rich and unique social cultural background of Indonesiahas routinely become a hidden agenda of hate speech, intolerance, cultural conflicts, and group friction leading to disharmony. Educational intervention is believely needed to address the issue of tolerance. This article aims to investigate ten young students’ experiences with their narration during the creative process of peace-themed Digital Storytelling (DST). By employing a narrative research paradigm, the study reveals the students’ thoughts during the creative DST process. The students’ statements, picture selection, and syntax served as the primary data. Applying Braun and Clark’s thematic analysis, the parameters of peaceful literacy included the commitment to one nation, tolerance, non-violence, and acceptance of various cultures and traditions. The results of this study on the students’ narratives indicated that these young people were peaceful literary agents who use their voices to speak about the importance of upholding cultural traditions, and respecting and accepting others. The study offers a novelty in terms of methods by using a narrative design to narrate the youngsters’ voice related to peace literacy, and in empirical contribution as the supplement to support the national curriculum as well as the implementation of peace-themed peace literacy in educational context.

This paper aims to explain waqf fundraising and its communication among the waqf institutions of pesantrens in Indonesia. The study focuses on the application of innovative waqf fundraising and communication strategies in three waqf-based pesantrens, namely Pondok Darussalam Gontor, Darunnajah, and Tazakka. The primary data are obtained through semi-structured interviews, while the secondary data are collected through observations and document reviews. Both data provide important and useful insights into understanding the waqf fundraising and communication approaches in these waqf institutions. In addition, thematic analysis is utilised in this study to analyse the application of the waqf fundraising models that contribute significantly to the development of waqf in the sampled pesantrens. The results of the study suggest that different types of waqf institutions apply different waqf fundraising methods. Darussalam Gontor and Darunnajah waqf institutions have a similar propensity for using traditional waqf fundraising approaches in which mobilisation and collection of waqf utilise retail and partnership fundraising techniques. While, Tazakka waqf institution applies both modern (market-oriented) and traditional waqf fundraising methods, in which retail, partnership, and crowd (jamā’i) fundraising techniques are used for mobilisation of their waqf. In relation to communication, these three waqf institutions utilise the same methods, that is, individual and community-oriented communications for linking their waqf programmes and activities. These methods of communication are set up to build and manage stronger relationships with key wāqifs. Finally, the study found that these waqf institutions have implemented simple communication approaches and utilised an effective fundraising method in creating and maintaining individual and institutional contributions.

This research aims to measure and empirically examine the impact of good governance and understanding of the teachings of ZIS (zakat, infaq, and sadaqah) on Muslims loyalties to the zakat institutions in Salatiga City and Semarang Regency. This research is a quantitative model that employs a questionnaire to gather the primary source for the research variables. The population of this research is muzaki in both areas, and the samples were taken from 94 respondents who regularly deliver their zakat, infaq, and sadaqah through a zakat institution. This study concludes that, firstly, implementing good governance on zakat institutions significantly influences the loyalty of Muslims to zakat institutions in Salatiga and Semarang; hence, the first hypothesis is accepted. Secondly, understanding of teachings on ZIS does not influence the loyalty of Muslims to zakat institutions in Salatiga and Semarang; hence, the second hypothesis is rejected. Third, implementing good governance and understanding of teachings on ZIS influence simultaneously the loyalty of Muslims to zakat institutions in Salatiga and Semarang, so the third hypothesis is accepted. This study notes that the dominant factors influencing muzaki's loyalty arise from external aspects (implementation of good governance), not internal (understanding, piety, and social relations). This research highly recommends that either BAZNAS or LAZ should develop their quality of zakat management systems to encourage Muslims to deliver ZIS through zakat institutions. Thus, zakat funds can be maximally empowered and contribute to the welfare of society.
