Demand forecasting is an important tool to support decision-making in the planning of power systems, providing essential information to aid specialists in the electricity sector in the allocation of available resources. Methods based on computational intelligence have been used in demand forecasting for more than twenty years. The Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Fuzzy Logic are among the most widely used techniques. In this study, we developed two demand forecasting systems for a real substation by means of an RNA and a fuzzy inference system. The case at hand studied the Cajazeiras substation, located in Paraíba/Brazil and its active power values, between the years 2008 and 2013, obtained by measurements of a system data acquisition (SCADA), which formed the time series data.

The air, water, wood and food are essential goods and environmental services to maintain life on earth and the other elements of the environment. Despite its crucial importance, this term is still not trivial and so little considered in economic decisions. Faced with this, it is necessary the theoretical survey about what would and classifications of such services, given that this is fundamental to the implementation of the payment methodology for environmental services, as this has taken on a growing importance in discussions around the environmentally sustainable development strategies in the world. Front of it, from the conceptual theoretical analysis in books, theses, dissertations, specialist periodicals and current Brazilian law, this work focused on presenting concepts definitions of what would be the environmental services to society and the precepts of the payment for ecosystem services (PES) tool in environmental management. With this extensive literature review can be seen that the PSA is already being developed in Brazil and abroad, with the purpose of managing public assets and this has been quite effective in addition to the command and control instrument in environmental management, already recognized in the country’s legal framework.

This paper aims to share empirical research on publishing data on the Web and its use. Starting from the use cases compiled by the W3C Data on the Web Best Practices (DWBP) working group, which compiled scenarios of how data is commonly published on the Web and how it is used. These use cases were the basis to set up the main challenges faced by data publishers and data consumers. Following the challenges, a set of requirements was defined, and both guided the development of the Data on the Web Best Practices (DWBP). It also discusses the importance of providing information about the datasets and distributions that may also contribute to data reuse. Finally, it analyses the benefits to engage data publishers in using the Best Practices as well as the use of the best practices to improve the way the datasets are published

The mullet is one of the most abundant fish in the Brazilian coast. Marine fish, such as mullet, is one of the food resources of better quality and abundance, thanks to its nutritional value, easy digestibility and balanced composition. However, much of the extracted fish is wasted due to their rapid deterioration occurring in less than 24 hours. To combat waste, there is the drying process, which is a food preservation method, influencing the preservation time, quality and durability of food. The choice of convective drying technique is due to simplicity and low cost of installation and operation of this equipment used. The convective drying using hot air, increasing the air temperature, reducing its relative humidity and absorb moisture available on the material to be dried. In this study, we investigated the process of convective drying mullet, to determine the drying time by testing in a test rig constructed in the laboratory making use of alternative materials and also test the mathematical model of the second Fick’s Law with proper comparison with experimental data. Drying was performed on mullet fillets subjected to a temperature of 48 ° C and air velocity of 2.5 m / s in the alternate drier with forced convection and also commercial greenhouse with natural convection, making mass measurements of fish every 15 minutes. The experimental results showed that the dehydration of mullet fillet was faster in alternate dryer compared to the process in commercial greenhouse. An adjustment of the effective diffusivity coefficient resulted in the range of 2.10-10 to 2.7.10-10 m2/s for the mullet fillets evaluated and maximum relative error of 5% between the numerical results and experimental data. The empirical models of fourth degree polynomials and logarithm had the best fit with the experimental dat.

The environmental impact study precedes the environmental licensing, being compulsory for effectively or potentially polluting activities or those capable of degrading the environment. This study aimed to analyze the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and its respective Environmental Impact Report (RIMA) of Paraíba Fuel Terminal Ltd. (TECOP) and assess the performance of Superintendency of Environmental Management (SUDEMA) – a state government agency – regarding the monitoring of environmental impacts from TECOP activity. This paper consists of a descriptive and documentary research, which has as objects of study TECOP’s EIA/RIMA and Environmental Licensing Process, obtained from the SUDEMA. The EIA/RIMA proved extremely shallow with respect to the characterization of environmental impacts: these were not properly characterized as determined by CONAMA Resolution 01/1986, Article 6, section II. The attributes for the correct characterization of the impacts were not taken into consideration even for major adverse impacts expected to occur in the project’s operational phase. The study also showed a lack of clarity as to propose any mitigation and monitoring measures to the identified impacts, because not all adverse impacts contained the indication of the forms of mitigation and how they would be monitored.

We discuss the branches of m-learning through the use of gamification in a Portuguese Language lesson to a Computer Sciences group with focus on spelling and by using the app SoletrandoMob. Applying new technologies has become a current practice in an attempt to enhance the contemporaneous teaching and make it more efficient. Educational games and media resources have enabled students to learn with mobility. The corpus for this analysis draws on paragraphs produced by the students about their satisfaction level in relation to the use of app. The theoretical framework draws on discussions on Gamification, educational software and M-learning. To sum up, we have concluded that using technology through m-learning and gamification in a classroom has encouraged students to use their smartphone smartly in order to consolidate their knowledge or even learn new contents. On top of that, the use of SoletrandoMob in association with teaching Portuguese represents a fruitful contribution to bring learning and entertaining together in an interdisciplinary way. Contrary to what may have been thought in the past, using technological tools in a classroom is no longer thought of being a bold task, on the other hand, it has become a natural teaching tool.
