A series-resonant electronic ballast for rapid-start fluorescent lamps with programmable starting 用于可编程启动的快速启动荧光灯的串联谐振电子镇流器

A series-resonant energy-tank is added onto the series-resonant electronic ballast to improve the starting performance of the rapid-start fluorescent lamp. The series-resonant energy-tank is used as the starting-aid circuit to eliminate the glow current in the lamp during the preheating interval. By adjusting the operating frequency, the electronic ballast is able to provide an adequate filament current for preheating with nearly zero lamp voltage, a lamp voltage high enough for ignition, and then the required lamp power and filament current at steady-state. A prototype of the electronic ballast with the proposed control scheme is built for a T8-36 W fluorescent lamp. Experimental tests exhibit satisfied results.

An integrated approach to power electronics systems 电力电子系统的集成方法

Power electronics systems are typically designed and manufactured using nonstandard parts, which results in labor-intensive manufacturing processes and increased cost. As a possible way to overcome these problems, this paper provides an overview of an integrated approach to design and realize power electronics systems, aiming at improved performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost effectiveness. A brief discussion is presented on the technology barriers that limit the rapid growth of power electronics, such as passive components and packaging techniques. It is also discussed the technology advancements needed to improve the characteristics of power electronics systems, such as increased levels of integration, standardization of parts and improved packaging techniques for enhanced thermal management and electrical performance. The technologies being developed for the realization of integrated systems include planar metalization to allow three-dimensional structural integration of power devices and control functions, integration of power passives, and integration of electrical/thermal design tools.

A research on photovoltaic energy controlling system with maximum power point tracking 最大功率点跟踪的光伏能量控制系统研究

This paper introduces a photovoltaic energy system, controlled by a DC-DC converter and a single phase bi-directional PWM converter to realize the inversion. A current controlling (MPPT) method of tracking the maximum power point and forcing the system to operate close to this point is used. An artificial neural network is used in the MPPT system and its robustness and insensitivity to the intermittent weather conditions is enhanced. Uc3854 is used as an inversion current controller, which has a high performance in harmonics and power factor.

Application of speed sensorless control to railway traction field 无速度传感器控制在铁路牵引领域的应用

We have developed a novel drive system without using speed sensors in the railway traction field. In this time, we carried out some running tests in the field using an actual train to verify the total stability and performance of the proposed system. Especially, these experiments were executed under 4 induction motors driven in parallel by only one VVVF inverter. It is concluded that the proposed system was so stable in all speed regions including wide flux weakening region using 1 pulse mode, and it's adhesion control performance was almost at the same level as the conventional drive system.

Control of self commutation converter in frequency domain with using DFT 基于DFT的自换相变换器频域控制

This paper proposes an output current control method for a voltage source type self commutated converter in the frequency domain using a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) calculation. It decomposes the three-phase AC voltage and AC current into respective frequency and symmetrical components. The phasor representation of the voltage and the current calculated from the instantaneous values in respective phase is used to control the converter output current. The suitable converter output voltage can be obtained by compensating the unbalanced condition and the harmonics with using the phasor representation expression. The practicability of the proposed control scheme is confirmed through EMTP simulations.

Comparison of variable speed drives for single-phase induction motors 单相感应电动机变速驱动器的比较

Different possibilities of employing a single-phase induction motor in a variable speed drive are surveyed in this paper. Motor features prove to depend mostly on the elimination or keeping the running capacitor in series with the auxiliary winding, as well on the chosen voltage-frequency profile (in open-loop control). The market requirement for low-cost topologies affects the drive performance, since a capacitor-less motor appears to be the best solution, but it requires a higher voltage for the auxiliary winding. The permanent split-capacitor motor offers a good compromise if the V/Hz dependency is in accordance with the maximum efficiency or the minimum pulsating torque optimisation criteria. Finally, inverter topologies suitable for low-cost, single-phase induction motor drive systems are analysed and tested, both in simulations and experiments. It is concluded that the elimination of the running capacitor provides an advantage only if the stator asymmetry is smaller or inexistent, as is the case of the symmetrical motor. Therefore, by keeping the running capacitor in series with auxiliary winding and compensating for the increasing of its reactance at low speeds, may lead to a competitive solution in application areas with no tough demands for high performance, such as pumps and fans.

Installation and control of cycloconverter to low frequency AC power cable transmission 环形变流器的安装与控制,以低频交流电缆传输电力

The bulk and long distance power transmission with power cable is impossible in utility ac frequency. The authors proposed the low frequency AC (LFAC) cable transmission to meet with that requirement. A cycloconverter can be applied to convert from utility AC frequency to low frequency for LFAC system. However, the output of the cycloconverter presents discontinuous current conduction because of the capacitive characteristics of the cable transmission line. This paper proposes the novel cycloconverter control system, which enables stable operation of the noncirculating current control to the capacitive output circuit, and proposes the three-phase output balancing control. The power flow control of the LFAC system by the cycloconverter is also confirmed through computer simulations.

Generalized discontinuous DC-link balancing modulation strategy for three-level inverters 三电平逆变器的广义不连续直流链路平衡调制策略

This paper presents a new generalized discontinuous space-vector modulation approach applicable to neutral point clamped (NPC) inverters. By the proposed modulation scheme the DC-link voltage can be actively controlled to maintain a stable neutral point even if unbalanced loading of the DC-link capacitors occur due to e.g. nonlinear loads containing even harmonics. The maximum unbalance for which the modulation scheme are able to compensate is theoretically investigated and found to be a function of both load angle, modulation index and output power level. The proposed modulation method is compared to conventional modulation schemes with regard to both switching losses and wave form quality. For the same number of switchings, the proposed modulation scheme offers up to 25% lower switching losses than conventional modulation schemes while maintaining the same output wave form quality. The functionality of the modulation scheme is validated by simulation results.

Statistical circuit analysis based on SABER 基于SABER的统计电路分析

It is extremely useful for electrical engineers to predict design performance as component parameters deviate from the criterion value randomly. This work can be handled by a circuit simulation software, SABER, which covers powerful statistical analysis including Monte Carlo analysis and worst-case analysis. In the simulation environment of SABER, the circuit statistical analysis at randomly selected device parameters under certain tolerance bounds is illustrated in detail with a flyback convertor and an active band pass filter as examples. Moreover, the simulation wave and statistical summary are presented. Based on the statistical analysis results, the robustness of the circuit is appraised and the proportion of finished product in the batch production is forecasted. Furthermore, the acceptable tolerance bounds on the device parameters are obtained. The work in this paper is a practical guide to high robustness circuit design.

Analysis of high-frequency induction cooker with variable frequency power control 高频电磁炉变频功率控制分析

This paper presents an analysis of a high frequency induction cooker, using a half-bridge series resonant inverter. The circuit operation is first analyzed, using the Thevenin short-open circuit method, in order to develop an equivalent circuit of simple RLC series connection. Then, by this simplified circuit, voltage and current equations with their spectra can be easily obtained and consequently leading to the calculation of various electrical quantities, which are also verified by experiment, using a prototype cooker of 2 kW 30 kHz with variable power and variable frequency. This cooker also shows that at the same power level of 1.5 kW, its boiling performance is faster than that of the conventional one, 5 and 10 minutes, respectively.
