Enormous data mining techniques were used for disease prediction among which only a few have employed feature selection. The prediction knowledge for disease diagnosis highly depends on the subjective knowledge of the experts. Developing a disease prediction model in time can help us to overcome the medical distress. In this paper, three feature selection strategies namely, HS, MS and TS are devised to obtain the valuable subset of relevant features for reducing the dimensionality of multiple attributes. This work proposed a modified ant-miner algorithm to extract the classification rules from the data. Three benchmarked datasets (Cleveland, Pima and Wisconsin) from the UCI machine learning repository were used to analyze effectiveness of the proposed model. The obtained results clearly shows that the modified ant-miner outperforms the other top data mining classification algorithms like the CN2, RBF, Adaboost and Bagging in terms of accuracy. Thus the proposed model is capable of producing good results with fewer features and serves as a suitable tool for eliciting and representing the expert's decision rules with an effective support for solving disease prediction problem.

This paper proposes a high gain, low power instrumentation amplifier (IA) for EEG signal processing. A three opamp instrumentation amplifier has been designed by using sub-threshold three-stage op-amps with PMOS input. NMOS transistors operating in the triode region have been used to replace the passive resistors of IA. This eliminates the problems of mismatch, temperature dependency and large area consumption, at the same time taking advantage of the high CMRR and DC offset cancellation properties of conventional IA. A BGR circuitry with temperature coefficient of 420 ppm/°C is used to bias the opamp. The instrumentation amplifier is simulated in Cadence Virtuoso 180nm CMOS technology by using a supply voltage of 1V. It achieves a Gain of 96.4dB, Bandwidth of 400 KHz, input-referred noise voltage of 610nV/√ Hz, CMRR in the range of 60dB and power consumption about 53.7 µW.

A very efficient computing environment is provided by cloud computing where the customers or several tenants are in need of multiple resources to be provided as a service over the internet. The utilization of resources is to be scheduled efficiently so that it helps in reducing the time for task completion. This is task scheduling which is most essential and important part in cloud computing environment. In task scheduling allocation of certain tasks to particular resources at a particular time instance is done. There are different techniques that are proposed to solve the problems of task scheduling. This paper discusses about the study of various resource scheduling algorithms in a cloud computing environment.

Design of control system demands optimization of many variables simultaneously, which results in problem of multiobjective optimization. The control degree of freedom is defined as the number of variables that can be controlled in the system. Hence, two-degree-of-freedom (abbreviated as 2DOF) PID control system has advantages over one degree-of-freedom (abbreviated as 1DOF) PID control system. One degree-of-freedom PID controller is used where there are two distinct objectives such as set-point tracking and disturbance rejection. The main objective of 2DOF controller is to control both set point tracking and disturbance rejection simultaneously. The process of heat exchanger which is widely used in process industry having two predominant disturbances one is due to flow variation of input fluid and second is due to temperature variation of input fluid. Hence, heat exchanger is selected as test bench to verify 2DOF control algorithm both for set point tracking and disturbance rejection. Recently, many evolutionary and nature inspired algorithm based controller tuning is attracted researchers due to their advantage to optimize parameters based on cost function, without any knowledge about process. Hence, optimization of 2DOF controller using genetic algorithm, for shell and tube heat exchanger system is proposed. MATLAB is used as software tool to verify 2DOF control strategy for heat exchanger system using genetic algorithm.

Transportable nodes in a healthy and demanding network set-up of Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) are self-governing with self-configurable potential due to high occurrence of topology alteration and changeable rescheduling of the network mechanism during data communication. Due to simplicity of set up, the energetic networking system in MANET is very victorious in conditions where it is complicated to create communications system and infrastructure based network. Numerous routing protocols for MANETs accompanying real time applications have been developed, basic intention being optimal consumption of resource in resource limited situation, least power utilization using limited battery power of the highly short-lived mobile nodes and victorious real time data broadcast within their deadline. This paper presents an efficient Quality of Service architecture using inter layer communication with a highly efficient real time scheduler design at the network layer with improved RMA (Rate Monotonic Algorithm) and EDF(Earliest Deadline First) scheduling that efficiently schedules multiple real time applications without missing any of their deadline. Simulation results in NetSim ver 8 ensures healthier network performance in terms of better jitter, packet delivery ratio and network lifetime when compared with other similar Cross layer based approaches for video file transmission.

This work applies one cycle control algorithm to reduce the torque ripple of brushless dc motor drives having non-ideal back emf. The main principle involved here is to ensure that the average torque follows the reference command in each switching cycle. The average torque is obtained indirectly via dc bus voltage and current, which gives the energy flowing into the system in each control cycle. The method proposed here is cost effective, since expensive sensors are not required. Back emf information is not required as there is no online or offline estimation. Accurate position of rotor is not necessary. No current sensor is required to measure the phase current. Only two sensors are used: one sensor is used to obtain the dc bus voltage and the other to obtain phase current information to calculate the input energy supplied to the motor. The feasibility of the proposed control algorithm is validated through simulation and experimental studies.

A thin-film tandem solar cell is designed from two different semiconductors in order to observe the impact of thickness of active layers on External Quantum Efficiency (EQE) by keeping the anode voltage fixed for both top and bottom cells. A nearly lattice matched ZnO-Si hetero-structure thin film device has been simulated to get the maximum EQE at a particular wave length. For the anode voltage of 5V, at a thickness of 8 nm of the active layer, we obtained a EQE of 0.936 for the top cell and for the bottom cell the optimized value of EQE is 0.819 at a thickness of 14 nm. The optimized values of EQE for both the cells were obtained at a wavelength of 460 nm and 674 nm respectively. In this regard, the impact of thickness of active layers on V-I characteristics of thin film tandem solar cell were observed.
