An update on the prospects for the precise measurement of the strong coupling constant αS at a high energy Linear Collider via the three-jet rate is presented. In particular, the issue of the distribution of center-of-mass energies of the identified qq event sample, which can affect the determination of αS at the scale Q2=(500 GeV)2, is addressed.

The theoretical predictions in the MSSM for Higgs-boson production at a future e+e− Linear Collider and Higgs-boson decay processes are discussed focusing in particular on recent diagrammatic two-loop results in the MSSM Higgs sector. The present status of the theoretical predictions is briefly summarized, and it is emphasized that considerable improvements will be necessary in order to match the high experimental accuracy achievable at a future Linear Collider.

We compare heavy quark tagging and anti-tagging efficiencies for vertex detectors with different inner raddi using the topological vertex technique developed at the SLC/SLD experiment. Charm tagging benefits by going to very small inner radii.

Here I summarize P5-WG (New/Alternative Physics Working Group) of LCWS2000@FNAL, held on Oct 24–28, 2000. There were 13 talks altogether, 7 talks on collider signals from new particles/interactions and 6 talks on extra dimensional physics. We had very active and hot discussions among participants for those new/alternative physics/ideas. In bottom table, I show those 13 speakers’ names and titles.

We report a study of top-quark reconstruction in e+e−→tt events at a 500 GeV linear collider using the LCD Fast simulator. The initial study of top-quark anomalous couplings is also reported. The final states of 4 jets and lepton as well as 6 jets are used. Using the 4 jets and lepton final state, we estimate the preliminary sensitivities for form factors at the γ/Z0tt vertex. In the 6 jets reconstruction, we show abilities of the top-quark charge identification and the c-quark tagging in W decays.

After operations at the LHC and e+e− Linear Colliders it may be found that a Standard-Model-like scenario is realized. In this scenario no new particle will be discovered, except a single Higgs boson having partial widths or coupling constants with fundamental particles, whose squares are close, within anticipated experimental uncertainty, to those of the SM. Experiments at a Photon Collider can resolve whether the SM or e.g. the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model is realized in Nature. For the SM-like realizations of the 2HDM (II) we study the loop couplings of the Higgs boson with γγ and Zγ, and also with gluons. The deviation of the two-photon width from its SM value is generally higher than the expected inaccuracy in the measurement of Γγγ at a Photon Collider. The deviation is sensitive to the parameters of the Higgs self interaction.

The hierarchy problem in particle physics has recently been approached from a geometric point of view in different models. These approaches postulate the existence of extra dimensions with various geometric properties, to explain how the hierarchy between the apparent scale of gravity MP∼1018 GeV and the weak scale mW∼100 GeV can be generated. Generally, these models predict that the effects of gravity mediated interactions become strong at the weak scale. This fact makes the NLC a promising tool for testing such extra dimensional models.
