Fuzzy decision system for technology choice in hybrid networks 混合网络技术选择的模糊决策系统

As networking technology evolves and new network services are being deployed, the network infrastructure is shifting towards a virtualized software-enabled architecture, namely, Software Defined Networking (SDN). However, a full deployment of SDN is challenging due to financial limitations and lack of expertise in the field. Consequently, a new form of hybrid network emerged as a result of the partial deployment of SDN. This paper considers the three types of networks, traditional, SDN and hybrid, and implements a fuzzy decision system that embodies network deployment best practices according to the advantages gained with each technology (legacy and SDN), and provides technology and financial recommendations that help operators decide on what type of network is best to deploy given their network and service requirements.

SD-CPS: Taming the challenges of Cyber-Physical Systems with a Software-Defined approach SD-CPS:用软件定义的方法驯服网络物理系统的挑战

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) revolutionize various application domains with integration and interoperability of networking, computing systems, and mechanical devices. Due to its scale and variety, CPS faces a number of challenges and opens up a few research questions in terms of management, fault-tolerance, and scalability. We propose a software-defined approach inspired by Software-Defined Networking (SDN), to address the challenges for a wider CPS adoption. We thus design a middleware architecture for the correct and resilient operation of CPS, to manage and coordinate the interacting devices centrally in the cyberspace whilst not sacrificing the functionality and performance benefits inherent to a distributed execution.

Deploying composite applications over Fog infrastructures is challenging due to the heterogeneity and scale of such infrastructures. Application components must be provided with the software and hardware capabilities they need, while communications should meet the desired QoS (e.g., latency and bandwidth). On the other hand, different Fog and Cloud nodes provide different software and hardware capabilities, and actual communication links support different QoS over time. In this talk we will discuss some of the problems of determining how to “best” deploy composite applications over Fog infrastructures, and the benefits of automated tools capable of supporting human-driven application management at the edge.
