The exponentially growing storage demands that industry currently faces puts a huge stress on traditional distributed storage systems. Indeed, the concurrently increasing quantity of available video content and video quality comes with a new set of challenges that existing distributed systems have a hard time to meet. These difficulties are mostly the result of design decisions that, while relevant for the initial scope of those systems, end up limiting their scalability. In this paper, a quick overview of these typical design decisions is presented for two examples: Ceph and GFS (Google File System). An original and IPv6-centric architecture is then described, that presents none of the aforementioned scalability limitations, and a first prototype of this architecture is compared to Ceph.

BigCrypt for big data encryption BigCrypt用于大数据加密

as data size is growing up, cloud storage is becoming more familiar to store a significant amount of private information. Government and private organizations require transferring plenty of business files from one end to another. However, we will lose privacy if we exchange information without data encryption and communication mechanism security. To protect data from hacking, we can use Asymmetric encryption technique, but it has a key exchange problem. Although Asymmetric key encryption deals with the limitations of Symmetric key encryption it can only encrypt limited size of data which is not feasible for a large amount of data files. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic approach to Pretty Good Privacy technique for encrypting large-size data, named as “BigCrypt” where both Symmetric and Asymmetric key encryption are used. Our goal is to achieve zero tolerance security on a significant amount of data encryption. We have experimentally evaluated our technique under three different platforms.

MPLS based hybridization in SDN SDN中基于MPLS的杂交

The new paradigm of Software Defined Networking (SDN) although has great potential to address the complex problems presented by enterprise networks, it has its own deployment and scalability issues. Further, a full SDN deployment has its own business and economic challenges. A smooth transition from legacy networks to SDN (disruption free, accommodating budget constraints, with progressive improvement in network management) requires a hybrid networking model as an inevitable intermediate step; that allows heterogeneous paradigms to function together while the full transition is realized in phases. Therefore, the need of the hour is to develop an incremental deployment strategy that caters to the needs of the organization. We present here a class-based hybrid SDN model for Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks. We discuss the model, design, components, their interactions, advantages and drawbacks. We also present a n implementation and evaluation of a prototype. In legacy networks, MPLS architecture closely resembles SDN paradigm in terms of separation of control and data planes, flow-abstraction etc. Moreover, ISPs have preferred MPLS over the years due to benefits of virtual private networks and traffic engineering. The central idea is to partition traffic using forwarding equivalence classes at the ingress router, the rules of which can be updated via a centralized controller using OpenFlow. Therefore, we aim to use the standard MPLS data-plane together with a control-plane based on OpenFlow to come up with a systematic incremental deployment methodology as well as a hybrid operation model

Evaluation of SDS controller (CorpHD) for various storage demands 针对不同存储需求对SDS控制器(CorpHD)进行评估

Growth in cloud applications is generating tremendous amount of data, building load on traditional storage management systems. Software Defined Storage (SDS) is a new storage management concept becoming popular to handle this large amount of data. CoprHD is one of the open source SDS controller, available for experimentation and development in storage industry. In this paper, the storage management techniques provided by CoprHD to manage heterogeneous storage platforms are experimented and analyzed. Various storage management parameters such as time to provision, storage capacity measurement and heterogeneity are experimentally evaluated along with the theoretical expression to prove the completeness of CoprHD controller for storage management.

STSM- a model to detect and predict large crowd anomalies for optimized path recomendation STSM-一种检测和预测大型人群异常的模型,用于优化路径推荐

Cultural diversity of large crowds is one of the major concerns when participants overstep the predefined guidelines. Such behaviors eradicate crowds' safety, resulting massive casualties. Advent of tracking devices and smartphones with multiple sensing abilities can leverage to capture crowds' real-time spatio-temporal (ST) data to serve emergency service plans. In this paper, we present a Spatio-Temporal Service Model (STSM) that can detect and predict anomalies with in a very large crowd. The model correlates crowd's real-time information with past user's ST-Data and their traffic mobility, and alerts all stockholders and recommends optimized path to shelter points and safe exits for any possible disaster. As a case study, tracking devices were deployed to capture spatio-temporal information of about 2970 vehicles used for pilgrims' mobility during Hajj 2016 event. The data analysis is summarized and basis the functionalities of the model for future pilgrimage.

Adaptive SDN-based architecture using QoE metrics in live video streaming on Cloud Mobile Media 基于自适应sdn的架构,在云移动媒体上的实时视频流中使用QoE指标

The increasing adoption of smart phones, the increased access to mobile broadband networks and the availability of public cloud infrastructures are aligning to the next generation of truly ubiquitous multimedia services, known as Cloud Mobile Media (CMM) services. Nevertheless, due to an inherit higher and variable end to end delay mainly as a result of the virtualization process, new challenges appear in particular for live video streaming applications in order to keep a good Quality of Experience of the delivered video. Thus, to keep client's satisfaction at good levels in terms of Mean Opinion Score (MOS), we propose an adaptive Software Defined Networking (SDN)-based architecture running on CMM. We estimate MOS using an statistical method based on Factor Analysis (FA) and then the SDN controller is able to schedule different actions. The MOS estimation is based on different measured variables throughout the CMM infrastructure. Finally, we compare the accuracy of the estimated MOS against well known publicly available video quality algorithms as well as we propose an algorithm to run at the SDN controller to meet these requirements.

The outstanding advances in computing as well as the explosion of devices and services requirements are making communication mobile networking more and more complex to manage. In addition, multimedia services such as provided by the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) require a dynamic Quality of Service (QoS) management. However, traditional Long Term Evolution (LTE) networking approaches have become too closed and limited in terms of providing Quality of Service (QoS). For this purpose, it has been necessary to look for new approaches. Among these approaches is the integration of the Software Defined Network (SDN) in the LTE network. With this approach the LTE mobile network will benefit from the SDN features to separate the control plane from the data plane and to enable a dynamic configuration of network resources and then a flexible QoS management. This paper presents a new architecture SDN-based for LTE packet core to enhance the QoS management. The architecture is implemented and evaluated for a Video on Demand (VoD) by testing the Quality of Experience (QoE) in terms of the Video Mean Opinion Score (VMOS).

For this purpose, it has been necessary to look for new approaches. Among these approaches is the integration of the Software Defined Network (SDN) in the LTE network. With this approach the LTE mobile network will benefit from the SDN features to separate the control plane from the data plane and to enable a dynamic configuration of network resources and then a flexible QoS management. This paper presents a new architecture SDN-based for LTE packet core to enhance the QoS management. Network Function Virtualization as a Service for multi-tenant software defined networks 面向多租户软件定义网络的网络功能虚拟化服务

In this paper, we assess the performance of a Network Function Virtualization as a Service (NFVaaS) platform when deployed using a unikernel minimal operating system and running on top of a network hypervisor for software defined networks (SDNs). Our NFVaaS infrastructure is built on top of the unikernel minimal operating system ClickOS and the OpenVirteX network hypervisor, which enforces network isolation in multi-tenant SDN networks. Our experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of using ClickOS when deploying and moving individual virtual network functions (VNFs) in multi-tenant SDN networks. We also identified the main limitations in terms of number of active VNFs that can be deployed at the same time, as well as the maximum memory size that can be allocated to each VNF in respect to the underlying available hardware resources. Moreover, we performed a thorough analysis and assessment of the impact of VNFs' placement on network performance, especially when multiple VNFs are organized as a service chain to create more sophisticated network functionalities.

Mitigating attacks in Software Defined Network (SDN) 缓解软件定义网络(SDN)中的攻击

Software Defined Network (SDN) is disruptive networking technology. In this paper, we will address some of the major vulnerable areas in SDN. We express some of the unique ways that an adversary can use to attack either the SDN controller or the communication devices. We have used a policy based approach to mitigate these attacks towards the SDN domain. We have implemented our Policy Based approach as an SDN application. ONOS an Open Source SDN controller is used to develop the Policy based Security Application. Finally, we will justify the application using real time attack scenarios. We will express how the policy expressions help to mitigate attacks and represent the performance comparison.

Self-configuring deterministic network with in-band configuration channel 带内配置信道的自配置确定性网络

More and more systems in industrial set-ups rely on real-time communication networks. One of the tasks when deploying such real-time networks is the need to configure all parts of it, which gets more complex the larger the network gets. While Software Defined Networking tries to simplify configuration through standardized interfaces, its configuration is mostly done through an out-of-band network. We present a way to achieve bounded configuration times, by introducing a safe in-band channel that enforces traffic characteristics on the in-band control message while getting rid of the out-of-band connection. A model on how to configure the traffic enforcement depending on available network capacity and configuration time constraints is given and evaluated using a proof-of-concept implementation in Mininet.
