The paper presents a novel delay estimation technique used in a positioning and location system. The delay estimation approach uses a novel spread technique which relies on phase detection of crosscorrelation functions. The system uses a transmitted signal which is based on the very common IEEE 802.11b WLAN preamble. Results are presented for a positioning system which utilises the delay estimation technique.

Frequency offset estimation with improved convergence time and energy consumption 改进收敛时间和能量消耗的频偏估计

An approach to simultaneously improve the energy consumption and convergence time (given the input SNR and required estimation variance) of feedforward data-aided frequency estimation is presented. Four well-known frequency estimation algorithms are compared using actual ASIC hardware implementations to verify the results. It is demonstrated how a modification to the algorithms can simultaneously achieve lower energy consumption and improved convergence time. For example, for an input SNR of 12 dB and required estimation variance of 2/spl times/10/sup -5/, convergence time is decreased by a factor of 4 while decreasing the energy consumption by a factor of 4.3. Directions on how to apply these algorithms to spread spectrum systems are provided.

Cancellation error statistics in a power-controlled CDMA system using successive interference cancellation 采用连续干扰对消的功率控制CDMA系统中的对消误差统计

Successive interference cancellation (SIC) is a practical scheme for substantially increasing the capacity of CDMA systems. In order to cancel the received signals of interfering users, estimation of their channel parameters is crucial. To the extent that the channel estimates are inaccurate, residual cancellation interference exists, which is the principal capacity limiting issue in SIC systems. The statistics and probability density function of the residual cancellation error are derived in the presence of fast closed-loop power control. This distribution, which depends directly on the statistics of the power controlled channel, can be accurately modelled with an appropriate Gaussian approximation. The presented results can be directly used in the modelling of future CDMA systems with interference cancellation, in both academia and industry.

Statistically correct simulation models for the generation of multiple uncorrelated Rayleigh fading waveforms 统计上正确的多个不相关瑞利衰落波形产生的仿真模型

An ergodic simulation model for the generation of multiple time uncorrelated Rayleigh waveforms with correct ensemble averages is proposed. This model uses the inverse discrete Fourier transform to generate the transmission coefficients with only one random number generator. Two recent modified versions of the Jake's and Smith's models, with correct ensemble averages, are analysed and compared with the proposed model. Analytical and simulation results show that the proposed model is ergodic in mean and autocorrelation, as is the modified Smith's model. Simulation results also show that the modified Jake's model requires the highest computation effort among the three analysed models. As a result, this model become less efficient in simulation.

On the design of spectrally overlaid multiple-symbol-rate multicarrier CDMA systems supporting multirate services 支持多速率业务的频谱覆盖多符号速率多载波CDMA系统设计

Two types of spectrally overlaid multiple-symbol-rate (MSR) asynchronous multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems are proposed. One type of systems has constant spreading gain (CSG) and the other has variable spreading gain (VSG) for different services; both systems have different symbol rates at each subcarrier for different services. Two possible configurations of CSG systems are also proposed. An adaptive power control is proposed to maintain the link quality and improve the system capacity. The multiple access interference, and hence system capacity, for each type of MSR MC-CDMA system is investigated. From the numerical results obtained, it can be concluded that the MSR MC-CDMA systems with VSG and with CSG configuration 2 can both obtain much steadier performance and system capacity than the system with CSG configuration 1.

Adaptive MIMO-OFDM combining space-time block codes and spatial multiplexing 结合空时分组码和空间复用的自适应MIMO-OFDM

The increase in demand for higher capacity and data rates over wireless channels has fueled researchers to explore the time, frequency and spatial dimensions of signal transmission. Thus, dynamic signal transmission with a multiple dimensions approach emerged as a powerful paradigm in meeting with these demands. Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems offer significant capacity gain compared to conventional single-input single-output (SISO) systems by exploiting the spatial dimension. Many MIMO techniques have been proposed including space-time coding (STC) and spatial multiplexing (SM). STC is used to provide more reliable communication, whereas the SM technique delivers faster communication. Combining STC and SM offers the best trade-off between transmission reliability and capacity. Using adaptive power and bit loading schemes, time-varying channel characteristics are exploited to improve data rate, reliability and power optimization. Spectrum efficiency is increased using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), a powerful method that utilizes the orthogonality of signals in the frequency domain to combat intersymbol interference (ISI). The paper proposes an adaptive MIMO-OFDM system model that combines both STC and SM over space. This model exploits all three dimensions of signal transmission to provide high data rates and robust signal transmission.

High data rate UWB performance with reduced implementation complexity 高数据速率UWB性能,降低实现复杂性

The bit error rate (BER) performance of the imperfect digital matched filter (IDMF) receiver in a typical multiuser scenario assuming LOS conditions for the terminals is investigated. Due to the extremely high processing requirements of the digital matched filter, it is assumed that for an implementation the number of bits as well as the number of filter coefficients has to be as low as possible introducing implementation loss. Furthermore imperfect channel estimation is taken into account. The resulting BER performance of the IDMF receiver is compared to the BER performance of the ideal matched filter receiver. Additionally the BER performance of a coded IDMF receiver, which applies sophisticated turbo forward error correction coding, is investigated. The results show that the IDMF receiver can reach the uncoded target BER of 10/sup -2/ in the environment investigated and that this uncoded BER corresponds to a coded BER of less than 10/sup -6/. For the IDMF receiver the required E/sub b//N/sub 0/ ratio to achieve the target BER strongly depends on the number of filter coefficients.

Fast converging blind adaptive multiuser detectors with linearly constrained CMA for DS/CDMA systems DS/CDMA系统的线性约束CMA快速收敛盲自适应多用户检测器

The paper presents a fast converging blind adaptive multiuser detector with modified linearly constrained CMA for DS/CDMA systems. By selecting a suitable linearly constrained cost function, the performance of the proposed algorithm is improved in terms of the capability of suppressing multiple access interference and dynamic tracing. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides a faster convergence to reach a steady-state than similar algorithms in dynamic environments.

A robust quadratically constrained adaptive blind multiuser receiver for cellular DS/CDMA systems 一种用于蜂窝DS/CDMA系统的鲁棒二次约束自适应盲多用户接收机

A new low-computational complexity robust adaptive blind multiuser receiver based on a constrained optimization approach with multiple constraints and a quadratic inequality (QI) constraint on the weight vector norm is developed. A diagonal loading technique is required to apply the quadratic constraint where the diagonal loading value is adjusted to satisfy the constrained value. Implementing the quadratic constraint into adaptive update algorithms such as least-mean-square (LMS) or recursive-least-mean (RLS) seems to be a difficult task. The minimum output energy (MOE) detector is implemented using a new adaptive algorithm based on the partition linear interference canceller (PLIC) structure with multiple constraints and a QI constraint on the weight vector norm. A new optimal variable loading (VL) technique, which is capable of providing robust control against signal mismatch with low computational complexity, is adopted. Simulations in a rich multipath environment with near-far effect are presented to demonstrate the robustness and fidelity of the proposed detector.

Achievable rates for MIMO fading channels with limited feedback 有限反馈条件下MIMO衰落信道的可实现速率

Channel information at the transmitter can simplify the coding scheme and increase the achievable data rate over a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) fading channel. Feedback from the receiver can be used to specify a precoding matrix, which selectively activates the strongest channel modes. We evaluate the sum data rate per receive antenna when the precoding matrix is quantized with a random vector quantization (RVQ) scheme, assuming a matched filter, or linear minimum mean squared error (MMSE) receiver. Our results are asymptotic as the number of transmit and receive antennas increases with fixed ratio, for a fixed number of feedback bits per dimension. Numerical results show that given a target spectral efficiency, the amount of feedback required by the linear MMSE receiver is only slightly more than that required by the optimal receiver, whereas the matched filter can require significantly more feedback. We also compare these results with a simpler reduced-rank scheme for quantizing the precoding matrix.
