Results of tan-hyperbolic pulse propagation in dispersion dominant regime as well as in the simultaneous presence of fiber loss, dispersion and self-phase modulation in single mode fiber are presented, both for initially un-chirped and chirped cases. Split-step Fourier model for nonlinear Schrodinger equation was used for this purpose. Results clearly show that in the presence of fiber nonlinearity, by increasing the steepness parameter, initially the un-chirped pulse first undergoes compression and then it goes on broadening with the propagated distance. Results also show that for higher value of steepness parameter, if the value of initial chirp goes on decreasing, peak power also increase showing the compression of the pulse and then it decreases with the propagated distance in dispersion dominant regime. The inclusion of self-phase modulation further enhances these results. These investigations provide a deeper insight for the fiber response to such type of optical pulses.

In this paper, a stereo matching algorithm based on image segments is presented. We propose the hybrid segmentation algorithm that is based on a combination of the Belief Propagation and Mean Shift algorithms with aim to refine the depth map by using a stereo pair of images. Firstly, a color based segmentation method is applied for segmenting the left image of the input stereo pair (reference image) into regions. The aim of the segmentation is to simplify representation of the image into the form that is easier to analyze and is able to locate objects in images. Secondly, results of the segmentation are used as an input of the local window-based matching method to determine the disparity estimate of each image pixel. The obtained experimental results demonstrate that the final depth map can be obtained by application of segment disparities to the original images.

Nth-order synthetic elements are presented in this contribution. Two basic current-mode dual-output active elements known as dual-output current followers (DO-CF) are used in the essential single-ended (S-E) circuit and two fully-differential current followers (FD-CF) are used in the fully-differential (F-D) equivalent. Both S-E and F-D 2nd-order low-pass and high-pass responses are shown as examples of particular solutions. Results of AC simulations together with tolerance analyses are included in order to prove design correctness.

Using of Minimal Length Chirps (MLC) as excitation signals for the bioimpedance measurement is discussed in this paper. It is shown that reducing the length of chirps and thereby minimizing the required signal energy still allows for a fast and wideband estimation of the bioimpedance. This is very important in the field of implantable and wearable devices, where low power consumption is mandatory. In addition we present a practical signal generation solution based on digital low-cost components.

Material corrosion has caused more and more losses and costs these years, so the world begin to pay much attention to this problem. In this paper, we mainly discuss the modeling and feature selection of Material corrosion data. With our experimental data with very small sample size, a model of corrosion rate is built. After specialized data preprocessing. By combining RFE and SVM, a novel feature selection method SVM-RFE is introduced. Then integrating this feature selection method and SVM modeling method, a special modeling framework is built. According to the experiments, the priority of this method is established not only on algorithm efficiency but also on predicting precision.

The paper proposes a three steps algorithm that automatically detects, classifies and recognizes traffic signs from images taken from a car running along European road. Traffic signs are detected by analyzing the color information contained in the images using HSV color space. Detected signs are then classified using correlation with standard sign shapes. The recognition step uses the minimum distance classification based on calculating the Euclidean distance between two feature vectors composed using a Gabor filter with different parameters.

The paper deals with the temporal properties of a scoring session when assessing the subjective quality of full HD video sequences using the continuous video quality tests. The performed experiment uses a modification of the standard test methodology described in ITU-R Rec. BT.500. It focuses on the reactive times and the time needed for the user ratings to stabilize at the beginning of a video sequence.

The paper deals with a new methods for IP geolocalisation, which is finding a real position of IP-enabled nodes in the Internet. The method is based on RTT measurement between landmarks with known position and a target node, which position we are interested in. The method provides GPS coordinates of a target, which is a different approach from other IP geolocalisation methods such as Geoping and Shortest ping. We also focused on the general usability of RTT for geolocalisation and we discussed its pros and cons. Measurements from a planetary scale network PlanetLab are presented. They are showing the promising geolocalisation results of the new algorithm.

This paper proposes a general formula for approximation of BTS (Base Transceiver Station) directivity characteristics. While computing gain from HPBW (half power beam width) in H and V plane, a H approximation and a V approximation formulas are suggested, in order to have a quick model for EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) and coverage analysis starting only from basic information about a BTS antenna, using olnly the information availabile in the radio license.
