It is hoped that jekajeh, which is recognized and accommodated according to the social field of boarding students, can provide the benefit of a space for expression of female students that is in line with the hobbies and development of female students' psychological potential. This ethnographic qualitative research aims to discover the dynamics of jekajeh as a student's striving behavior, how to care for jekajeh, and how consultative stimulants are known to make jekajeh in Islamic boarding schools healthier. Participants were 5 female students at the Nurul Quran Kraksaan Islamic Boarding School aged 18-23 years. Data collection used in-depth interview techniques and open questionnaires, with inductive-abstractive data analysis. The results found that jekajeh is a form of problem solving, emotional control, and encouragement to pray. Hobbies became part of the potential solution to jekajeh, and the consultation space in interviews plays a role in breaking down pressure into striving power (jekajeh), which may or may not persist. This study has the implication that Islamic boarding schools need a response and provide psychological services for the growth of striving power (jekajeh), so that students remain healthy and survive in Islamic boarding schools.

This research aims to look at the cultural values of batobo, one of the Minangkabau cultures, in building family psychological resistance. The research method used qualitative approach with a descriptive phenomenological design. Data was collected through group interviews with 2 batobo groups and in-depth interviews with 3 community leaders selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis using Nvivo 10.0 software. The results show that the batobo cultural values obtained in building family psychological resistance are: (i) form good individual characteristics such as flexibility, cohesiveness, (ii) make members have a favorable view of the future, (iii) live a more meaningful life by feeling happy with what they have, and (iv) have religious beliefs. These results indicate that batobo culture can increase people's psychological resistance. These results can encourage the community to continue to maintain batobo culture so that it can become an approach to creating a society that has psychological resistance.

This study aims to examine the self-esteem of obese Muslim women who experience household neglect. The research used qualitative approach with phenomenological design. Data collection used interview and observation techniques. Participants were 2 women aged 26 and 37 years who were recruited through purposive sampling technique. The obese body condition of both subjects was the reason for neglect by their husbands in the form of physical, verbal and economic violence. The results showed that both subjects rated themselves as worthless. Their low self-esteem can be observed in each component, namely: performance-wise, they are helpless because they are not allowed to work but are not provided for; socially, withdrawing from the environment; and physically, lacks self-confidence because of their obesity. Thus, both participants require psychological treatment such as therapy and spiritual approach.

Previous studies show that Indonesian teenagers tend to have a low level of future orientation, which has an impact on increasing unemployment rates. There are still few studies on future orientation carried out on students who have different challenges and living conditions compared to other teenagers. This research aims to empirically examine the relationship between adversity quotient and social support on students' future orientation. This research used quantitative correlational methods with the total participants of 223 Aliyah students (high school equivalent) at the Ta'mirul Islam Islamic Boarding School, Surakarta. The results of multiple regression analysis show that there is a significant positive relationship between adversity quotient and social support on students' future orientation (F= 95.654, sig= .00) with an effective contribution of 45.1%. The categorization results show that the majority of students have a very high future orientation, 44.4%.

This research aims to obtain an overview of the strategies used by memorizers of the Quran in facing the quarter-life crisis phase. The quarter-life crisis is an emotional crisis related to doubt or anxiety about the future which is usually experienced by individuals aged 18-25 years. The research used qualitative phenomenological methods with thematic analysis. The participants were four students selected through purposive sampling. The results show that the area where the quarter-life crisis is most experienced is in the area of work. The causal factor is family life. The impacts can be negative, such as overthinking and anxiety; or positive, such as being able to learn lessons and be more aware of future challenges. Strategies for overcoming crises include preparing themselves by studying, reading the Quran, and believing that religion can help them face their life problems. The implications of this research emphasize that getting closer to Allah Swt. through the activity of reading and memorizing the Quran can strengthen individuals to face a quarter-life crisis.

The COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has changed human life. The issue of education for children with special needs is increasingly difficult to implement during the pandemic. This study aims to obtain an overview of parenting styles during the COVID-19 pandemic for Indonesian Muslim families who have children with special needs. This research use a mixed method with a sequential explanatory approach where the quantitative method was followed by qualitative. Participants involved 18 families who have children with special needs. Data collection used the Parenting Scale which consists of 30 items. The results showed that most of the subjects experienced dysfunctional parenting with verbosity as the highest dysfunctional aspect. Qualitatively, the results lead to dysfunctional parenting. The pandemic period was indeed not easy to go through, especially for families who have children with special needs. This research shows that the challenging circumstances created by the pandemic can result in dysfunctional parenting. Parents should remain alert for signs of over-reactivity, verbosity, and looseness that can hinder effective parenting.

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Islamic-based Achievement Motivation Training (AMT) in increasing motivation to memorize the Quran. This study used a quantitative pre-experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 8 teenage boys aged 11-17 years, who were students at Pondok Tahfizh Quran Hisbah Al-Mizan Pontianak who were selected through random sampling. Data collection used a scale of motivation to memorize the Quran with a value of α .7737. Based on the paired sample of t test, a significance value of .004 (p < .05) was obtained, which indicated that there were differences in the level of motivation to memorize the Quran before and after training. Thus the Islamic-based Achievement Motivation Training (AMT) is effective in increasing the motivation to memorize the Quran in students.

The cultural differences encountered while studying abroad can trigger problems that generate negative emotions. To prevent the negative impact of these emotions on the quality of life of students, it is important to have intercultural adjustments so that they can deal with cultural differences more adaptively. This study aims to explore the obstacles experienced by Indonesian students in Japan and how intercultural adjustment efforts are made. The research was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods through semi-structured interviews with two Indonesian students in Japan. Data analysis using thematic analysis. The results of the study found several themes of obstacles such as language barriers, difficulty socializing with local people, living systems due to differences in weather and climate, loneliness, and difficulty finding halal food. To overcome these obstacles, several themes of adjustment were made, including: emotional regulation, self opening, flexible, and evaluating new experiences and knowledge. These themes show that the adjustment of Indonesian students in Japan can be explained within the framework of intercultural adjustment.
