Reliability study for process bus based substation considering various practical process bus architectures 考虑各种实际过程总线结构的基于过程总线的变电站可靠性研究

As it is important to evaluate the performance of the Digital Substation, So The objective of first part of this paper is to evaluate the reliability and availability of protection functions for practical substation architecture using RBD method based on different configuration. RBD is a success-oriented network simplifying the function of the system by showing the logical connections among system components. And in the second part we will go through the effect of system Reliability on the Protection systems applicability and methods to improve the performance of the Systems.

Utilizing STATCOM for power quality improvement under integration of wind farms into the unified grid 利用STATCOM改善风电场并入统一电网条件下的电能质量

Wind power plants play an important role in the power system especially under integration of high penetration levels of wind energy into grid. Many requirements for the wind power plants have been proposed in Saudi Arabia Grid Code. One of these requirements is power quality including active and reactive powers, flicker, voltage swell, harmonics and voltage sag. These power quality aspects are generated due to the variation in the environmental conditions as all fluctuations in the wind speed are further transferred as fluctuations in the electrical power delivered to the grid especially in fixed speed wind turbines. Also the problem is that these wind turbines mostly use induction generators, tend to drain large amounts of VArs from the grid, potentially causing low voltage and may be voltage stability problems for the utility. This paper presents the practical solutions to mitigate the voltage fluctuations caused by the aerodynamic aspects of a wind farm in a power system by utilizing a Static Compensator (STATCOM). Also Recommendations are given for improving the voltage profile and reactive power of the wind farms connected to the grid during short circuit using different STATCOM techniques for a safe operation.

Internet of things in LV grids: Framework and experiments 低压电网中的物联网:框架与实验

Changes in recent renewable energy-related grid codes may lead to introduction of thousands of remotely controllable inverters in the LV grid. To maintain their supply quality, the distribution system operator (DSO) would need to coordinate together with active end users to optimally operate and control their inverters. A generic ICT architecture and royalty free application are therefore required to interconnect these inverters and the grid operator. In this paper, we have used internet of things paradigm to develop an ICT framework that can be used by DSO to control these inverters remotely. Moreover, since the proposed ICT framework fully compatible with the existing communication infrastructure, it can be easily used by DSOs. To test the proposed ICT framework, a testbed is also constructed. In addition, as a part of the proposed ICT framework, a generic application programmable interface is developed. The scalability and the interoperability are added to the application by programming it using open and royalty free java and java agent development environment tool.

Reliability evaluation and economic assessment of micro-grid with V2G electric vehicles coordination V2G电动汽车协同微电网可靠性评价与经济性评价

These days the consumption of fossil fuel is increasing substantially and the major proportion of it is consumed by transportation sector. So, electrification of vehicles is one way to minimize their dependence on fossil fuels which also plays a significant role in reducing the greenhouse effect. However, vehicles transformation enhances the electric load which has a significant impact on current power system and upcoming smart grid which may eventually affect the reliability. In this paper, the reliability and economic assessment of micro-grid consisting of renewables as well as diesel generators, considering non-controllable loads as well as controllable EVs load, is investigated. To further improve the reliability of micro-grid, dedicated G2V and V2G periods are considered. Solar irradiation, wind speed and hourly load data of Dammam region are used to examine the proposed model. Sensitivity analysis is well presented to analyze the impact of different combinations of renewable sources and diesel generators, different V2G coordination levels, storage efficiencies and charging/discharging rates on the micro-grid reliability.

Addressing cyber security for the oil, gas and energy sector 解决石油、天然气和能源领域的网络安全问题

The rapid spread of cyber threats and attacks are forcing many organizations to rethink their cyber security policies and standards. The latest cyber-attacks are well structured, organized, vicious, destructive and exceptionally sophisticated. The new reality of relentless cyber-attacks is causing havoc at a high level within oil and energy companies. There is a great need for developing and establishing new processes and policies with which to train a new “tech savvy” generation of professionals; who can then create and implement solid, systematic and sound cyber security policies. Cyber defense standards cannot be achieved fast enough to deal with this evolving threat.
