A Wireless Data Stream Mining Model 一个无线数据流挖掘模型

The sensor networks, web click stream and astronomical applications generate a continuous flow of data streams. Most likely data streams are generated in a wireless environment. These data streams challenge our ability to store and process them in real-time with limited computing capabilities of the wireless environment. Querying and mining data streams have attracted attention in the past two years. The main idea behind the proposed techniques in mining data streams in to develop efficient approximate algorithms with an acceptable accuracy. Recently, we have proposed algorithm output granularity as an approach in mining data streams. This approach has the advantage of being resource-aware in addition to its generality. In this paper, a model for mining data streams in a wireless environment has been proposed. The model contains two novel contributions; a ubiquitous data mining system architecture and algorithm output granularity approach in mining data streams.

Privacy Enforcement Embedded in Mobile Services 嵌入移动服务的隐私保护

Next generation mobile services in business-to-employee (B2E) settings put very high demands on the privacy protection features of contextaware, personalization and adaptation enabling technologies. To this end we propose a middle agent framework that allows parties to securely exchange personal or business sensitive contextual information independently of the available networks. In order to demonstrate our privacy enforcing middle agent framework, we build a scheduling service, in which the middle agents collectively arrange an update of a meeting between employees by adapting location and time on the basis of privacy and scheduling policies of the traveling employees themselves or the companies they work for. We developed and deployed this scheduling service on a LEAP agent platform and used a PDA to communicate with the middle agents on the server using WLAN and GPRS networks.

Performance Guarantee in a New Hybrid Push-Pull Scheduling Algorithm 一种新型混合推拉调度算法的性能保证

The rapid growth of web services has already given birth to a set of data dissemination applications. Efficient scheduling techniques are necessary to endow such applications with advanced data processing capability. In this paper we have effectively combined broadcasting of very popular (push) data and dissemination of less popular (pull) data to develop a new hybrid scheduling scheme. The separation between the push and the pull data is called cut-off point. The clients send their request to the server, which ignores the request for the push items but queues the requests for the pull items. At every instance of time, the item to be broadcast is designated by applying a pure-push scheduling. On the other hand, the item to be pulled is the one stored in the pull-queue having the highest number of pending requests. Fixed a value for the cut-off point, an analytic model, validated by simulation, evaluates the average system performance. On the top of that, the major novelty of our system lies in its capability of offering a performance guarantee to the clients. For each request, the client specifies, along with the data item requested, the maximum interval of time it can afford to wait before its request will be served. Based on this particular access-time and on the analytic model, our hybrid system computes the cut-off point to fulfill the specific need of the client. The system offers a great flexibility for clients. It improves significantly upon a pure push system and some existing hybrid systems in terms of average waiting time spent by a client.

Wireless ATA: A New Data Transport Protocol for Wireless Storage 无线ATA:一种新的无线存储数据传输协议

This paper introduces a new data transport architecture and protocol for storage that is implemented on wireless devices and that can be accessed through a short-range wireless access technology such as Bluetooth or 802.11. We call the protocol WATA (Wireless ATA), as its architecture is similar to current ATA and ATA-based technologies. In this paper, we give basic technical details of the protocol and discuss its main advantages and disadvantages over the current protocols, and talk about our decisions to implement a prototype system to see an actual implementation of the architecture.
