Effects of Working Capital Management on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises' Profitability from the Continuity of Supply Chain Relationships 从供应链关系连续性看营运资金管理对中小企业盈利能力的影响

Purpose: The object of this paper is to analyze the impacts on the CCC, DIO, DRO, DPO, which are a factor for measuring WCM and profitability (ROA) from a supply chain relationship perspective between two large Korean automotive manufacturers (Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation) and SMEs in the automotive parts manu-facturing industry. Design/methodology/approach: We used two Korean automotive manufacturers (Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation) and SMEs of Korean automotive parts manufacturing industry's panel data in this research. The panel data model was used to investigate the impacts of CCC and its factors on ROA to test the hypotheses. For analyzing the panel data, a model of fixed effects was used in this research. Findings: According to the groups, the CCC shows a negative correlation with both ROA. DIO is negatively associated with ROA. DPO shows a positive correlation with ROA. In contrast, DPO shows a negative correlation with ROA. DPO shows a positive correlation with ROA. Conversely, DPO shows a negative correlation with ROA. Research limitations/implications: The limitations of this research show that because the analysis was made on the basis of the automotive industry in Korea, it is difficult to apply it to other industries in other countries. A comparative international analysis is therefore needed. The implications of this paper are the impacts of CCC, DIO, DRO, and DPO on profitability based on large enterprises and SMEs in aspects of the supply chain relation-ships, which previous studies did not cover sufficiently. Originality/value: Prior study mainly concentrated on the impacts of the CCC, DIO, DRO, and DPO on profitability based on SMEs in various industries from many countries. But this research focused on the CCC and profitability from the perspective of supply chain relationship between Korean large enterprises and SMEs.

Purpose: This study investigated whether food delivery riders experienced stress due to verbal abuse and vindictive customer behavior in food delivery services. Furthermore, moderating effects of social support were tested to see whether they decreased the job stress caused by verbal abuse and vindictive customer behaviors. This study exam-ined if real-time feedback can reduce employee job stress. Finally, this study evaluated whether real-time feedback influences employee engagement. Design/methodology/approach: The paper presented descriptive research to examine the relationship between ver-bal abuse and vindictive customer behavior, employee job stress, social support, real-time employee feedback, and engagement in Malaysia's food delivery services. This study focused on individual employees who have experience dealing with verbal abuse and vindictive customer behaviors in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Online surveys by Google forms and printed questionnaires were distributed to the respondents to obtain the information. To examine the relationship, the analysis was done using SPSS and AMOS for empirical analysis. Findings: The findings showed that verbal abuse was negatively related to employees' job stress, except vindictive customers have positively related and confirmed that social support moderates the relationship between vindictive customers and employees' job stress. Besides that, social support also moderates the relationship between vindictive customers and employees' job stress. The study succeeded in supporting the relationship between employee job stress and real-time employee feedback. Also, the results indicate positive support for the relationship between real-time feedback and employee engagement. Research limitations/implications: The study only focused on the food delivery sector; therefore, this study sug-gests that future studies should cover wide areas of the service industry. It is because jay-customer behaviors are known not only within the food delivery sector, future studies could replicate similar investigations in other service organizations such as hotels, restaurants, airlines, banks, and hospitals in the Malaysian context. Also, for the im-plication, to respond to events involving verbal abuse and vindictive customer, management can gather important information from workers who experience these behaviors and develop solutions based on their experience. Originality/value: The study is novel in its application of the conservation of resources (COR) theory to the study of verbal abuse and vindictive customer from food delivery employee's perspective and with social support from supervisors in Malaysian food delivery services scenario.

Islamic Social Reporting in Indonesian Islamic Bank: A Systematic Literature Review 印尼伊斯兰银行的伊斯兰社会报告:系统文献回顾

Purpose: This study aims to provide a systematic review of research on Islamic social reporting (ISR) in the context of Islamic banks in Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach: A total of 32 articles published in international journals indexed by Scopus and Indonesian journals indexed by the Science and Technology Index (SINTA) were selected using a mapping approach. Findings: This study found that most ISR research used a quantitative explanatory approach. Most of the ISR re-search uses legitimacy and stakeholder theory as a basis for exploring the phenomenon. The mapping shows that the profitability variable is mainly used as a determinant and consequence of ISR. Research limitations/implications: This study was conducted only for empirical research articles based on Scopus and SINTA 1 and 2 databases and is in business, management, and accounting research. These findings are expected to finalize the conceptual framework related to ISR, especially in Islamic companies in Indonesia, considering that Indonesia adheres to a dual board governance system. Originality/value: This paper has successfully mapped ISR research in its determinants and consequences in two different streams. ISR determinants are further analyzed in two groups, financial and non-financial.

Mediation Effects of Financial Performance between Assets Utilization and the Market Value of Palestinian Listed Firms 巴勒斯坦上市公司资产利用与市值之间财务绩效的中介作用

Purpose: This paper examines the impact of asset utilization on the firm's market value and the mediating role of financial performance on a sample of non-financial sectors listed on the Palestinian stock exchange from 2010 to 2018. Design/methodology/approach: This study uses a quantitative research approach as it incorporates financial varia-bles, including assets utilization, financial performance (ROA), market value, growth opportunities, firm size, and debt ratio. Findings: The analysis indicates that asset utilization enhances the financial performance of firms and, in turn, the market value of firms. Thus, financial performance mediates the relationship between asset utilization and the firm's market value. Additionally, the growth opportunities and the firm's size positively and directly affect the financial performance. It also indirectly impacts the market value of the firm. In contrast, the debt ratio has a negative impact on financial performance and market value. Generally, these findings are aligned with Signalling and Agency Theories predictions in light of weak corporate governance and high concentration ownership in Palestine and investors' concerns regarding wasting firm assets, unless it enhances the firm's financial performance. Research limitations/implications: This study was conducted using a sample of non-financial Palestinian sectors. Thus, future studies may examine factors included in this study on Palestinian financial industries to generalize findings for the Palestinian market. Additionally, this study used share prices to measure the market value of firms and return on assets as a measure of financial performance. Thus, future studies may consider other criteria, such as price to book value (to gauge whether a stock is valued correctly. Originality/value: Palestine is one of the countries in MENA region that has unclear effects of asset utilization on firm's performance. Accordingly, this study highlights investors' fear regarding mismanagement related to the utilization of a firm's assets, particularly where there is a negative relationship between asset utilization and market value but a positive impact on financial performance. This paper provides a clear empirical evidence on how the asset utilization could be utilized in such market to reduce agency problem and to signal quality management to the outsiders.

Purpose: This paper examines the effects of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), as measured by the Abnormal Enterprise Risk Management Index (ABERMI), on the performance and risk of Vietnamese listed firms. Design/methodology/approach: The paper employs a combination of three regression methods (Pooled Ordinary Least Squares, Fixed Effect Model and Random Effect Model) to test the effects of Enterprise Risk Managment on the performance and risk of Vietnamese listed firms in the period of 2010-2020. In addition, a two-stage re-gression model is used to calculate the ABERMI. Findings: The findings show that firms with effective enterprise risk management (ERM), as evidenced by their low abnormal enterprise risk management index, can enhance their business performance measured by Tobin's Q. Furthermore, good ERM helps firms reduce the risk of bankruptcy. However, the research proves that ERM is not associated with return on total assets and systematic risk. Research limitations/implications: Firm can employ Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to efficiently and effec-tively manage risk. Additionally, applying a standard might further enhance the quality of risk management efforts by managers. Authorities can encourage the implementation of ERM to safeguard investor's wealth and indirectly protect the Vietnamese economy. Originality/value: Through a comprehensive analysis of various methodologies, this paper aims to uncover positive outcomes in exploring the impact of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) on both risk and performance within the setting of Vietnamese listed firm.

Purpose: Budget, hygiene factors, and the issue of workforce shortages have accelerated the use of robotics technol-ogy in restaurant chains. Even though service robots could operate many functions and roles, further research is required in hotel settings to ascertain how various combinations of robots and humans at different product/service tiers may affect customers' viewpoints and intentions. Design/methodology/approach: This research study addressed the issue of data collected from 364 customers in Malaysia. This study examines both theoretical and managerial insights. Findings: The findings of the study on product theory and performance, the use of robots in core and facilitating product levels is far less likely to enhance consumers' perceived performance and brand reputation. The perceived performance of consumers' services influences their brand reputation and repurchase intention. Consumers' re-purchase intention is only positively affected by their perceived brand reputation. Research limitations/implications: This study employs an experimental design approach to investigate the use of robots in the restaurant context. Future research could focus on customers' real-world dining experiences with robot technology. Future research could be used to confirm the findings of this paper. All samples were collected from the Malaysia population, where diners' behavioral intentions toward robots may differ due to cultural differences. Thus, future studies in developed and developing countries are suggested to validate the research findings. Originality/value: The study adds to the literature on the product-level theory, robots versus human employees, brand and service performance, and behavioral intentions in the restaurant setting. The findings have ramifications for how robotic restaurants can improve restaurant image, expedite performance output, and mitigate the impact of the pandemic.

Impact of Accounting Conservatism on the Informativeness of Current Stock Prices for Future Earnings 会计稳健性对当前股票价格对未来收益的信息量的影响

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine how accounting conservatism affects the relation between current stock returns, current earnings, and future earnings. Design/methodology/approach: To achieve the purpose of this paper, we divide accounting conservatism into con-ditional and unconditional conservatism and investigate whether the relation between current stock returns, current earnings, and future earnings is different depending on the type of conservatism. Findings: We find that the current stock returns of firms with strong conditional conservatism contain more in-formation about future earnings. However, our results show that informativeness of current stock returns on future earnings does not change under unconditional conservatism. Research limitations/implications: Even though we use prior research to capture the proxy for accounting con-servatism, the extent or magnitude of accounting conservatism may not be properly measured by our proxies. However, despite of these limitations, our results still have the following meanings. Originality/value: Our results suggest that compared to unconditional conservatism, conditional conservatism re-flects managerial discretion over timely recognition of bad news and results in faster recognition of the impact of future earnings on current earnings. More specifically, our result indicates that conditional conservatism decreases the informativeness of current stock returns for future earnings due to asymmetric timeliness. And our result also provides indirect evidence that conditional conservatism reflects managerial discretion over timely loss recognition compared to unconditional conservatism, and thereby, deteriorates the informativeness of current returns for future earnings.

Purpose: The aim of this research is to explore the structural relationship between taste, price fairness, healthiness, and repurchase intention. Healthiness is the moderator when taste and price fairness impacts on repurchase intention. The research subject is McDonald's given the market share in the fast food market. Design/methodology/approach: The main instrument of this research is survey. This study collected the data using Amazon Mechanical Turk; the number of observation is 376. Confirmatory factor analysis and correlation matrix were used to ensure convergent validity and discriminant validity. Structural equation model was employed to analyze the data. Findings: Regarding the results, repurchase intention is both positively influenced by taste and price fairness. The results also revealed the significant moderating effect of healthiness in the relationship when taste and price fairness affect repurchase intention. Research limitations/implications: The results of this research could be used for the management of fast food business by offering consumer characteristic information. Originality/value: This research sheds light on the literature by identifying the moderating effect of healthiness on the relationship between price fairness, taste, and repurchase intention of fast food.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify priorities by evaluating the significance of attributes consumers consider when selecting upcycled food. Design/methodology/approach: Based on a sample survey of 280 participants, a total of nine upcycled food attrib-utes were derived and a total of 12 sets were proposed. By using a Best-Worst Scaling (BWS), the relative im-portance of a set of attributes was evaluated. Findings: Among the nine upcycled food selection attributes derived based on previous studies, food safety was the most important attribute, followed by sensory appeal, nutritional value, origin and environmental information. In contrast, brand, cost-effectiveness, convenience and familiarity appeared to be attributes of relatively low sig-nificance in selecting upcycled food. Research limitations/implications: The results of the study investigated the attributes affecting consumer purchase decisions in the emerging upcycled food market strengthened strategy establishment and improvement, and proposed ways to increase competitiveness. Originality/value: This study has academic significance in that it identified upcycled food selection attributes based on the quantitative analysis methodology rather than common perception. It is differentiated from previous studies in that it derives preferences for purchasing determinants through BWS and presents how much more important certain attributes are than other attributes, so the size of relative importance can be quantitatively compared.

Purpose: The main aim of this study is to empirically investigate the relationship between executive compensation, inequality, and corporate governance, thus filling a gap in extant literature. Design/methodology/approach: The methodology used calculated the salary Gini (s-Gini) and governance indices (G-index) for companies in the sample and these were used as proxies for inequality and corporate governance respectively. The dataset is panel in nature. It comprises 46 conveniently selected largest JSE listed companies (by market capitalisation). A 2-step system GMM was used to determine if s-Gini and G-index were channels through which executive compensation could influence company performance. While considering a dynamic specifi-cation, the GMM estimator addressed possible endogeneity bias. GMM estimation method addressed potential over or underestimation of the relationship between company performance and executive compensation because it was considered more efficient on shorter panels. GMM analysis on companies listed on the JSE Top40 index was from 2008 to 2020. Overall, the methodology and analysis employed provide valuable insights into the complexities between executive compensation, inequality, corporate governance, and company performance, shedding light on important factors that can influence company's performance. Findings: Results indicated that as executive compensation improved, company performance deteriorated. Furthermore, varied impact of inequality on performance measures were recorded. The observation was that inequality influenced performance in diverse ways. This accentuated the convoluted nature of this relationship. The study also established that both inequality and corporate governance are channels through which executive remuneration affects performance. Additionally, a positive nexus between governance and net profit margin was discovered. Research limitations/implications: The results imply that: higher executive pay does not always yield better com-pany performance; the effects of executive pay on performance are mediated by the level of inequality within the company and the quality of corporate governance practices; good corporate governance practices can enhance financial performance. It is recommended that companies should prioritise espousal of sound corporate governance practices because they have positive influence on performance. Moreover, diligent attention must be given to how executive compensation is configured. Poorly designed compensation packages erode company value. Conversely, properly structured ones may enhance performance and successively improve company value. This study is focused solely on the Top40 largest listed companies in South Africa. The findings may not be generalisable to all listed entities, as there could be variations in the relationship between executive compensation, inequality, and corporate governance across companies of different sizes.  Design/methodology/approach: The methodology used calculated the salary Gini (s-Gini) and governance indices (G-index) for companies in the sample and these were used as proxies for inequality and corporate governance respectively. The dataset is panel in nature. It comprises 46 conveniently selected largest JSE listed companies (by market capitalisation). A 2-step system GMM was used to determine if s-Gini and G-index were channels through which executive compensation could influence company performance. While considering a dynamic specifi-cation, the GMM estimator addressed possible endogeneity bias. GMM estimation method addressed potential over or underestimation of the relationship between company performance and executive compensation because it was considered more efficient on shorter panels. GMM analysis on companies listed on the JSE Top40 index was from 2008 to 2020.
