Dynamic shrinkage behavior of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fiber was measured by heating in high pressure CO 2 at a constant heating rate. In the dynamic shrinkage behavior, the shrinkage temperature ( T s ) of PET fiber in high-pressure CO 2 was obtained from the extrapolation of equilibrium shrinkage region that the sample reached the equilibrium shrinkage with respect to the temperature during the measurement. The T s of PET fiber was lower in high-pressure CO 2 compared to in air. Its amount increased linearly with increasing CO 2 density, and the decrease of 40 ºC was observed in CO 2 with the density of 0.15 g/cm 3 . The amount of CO 2 sorption in PET fiber was increased with increasing the CO 2 density in the measurement atmosphere, which resulted in the further enhancement of the molecular chains mobility. The slope of the equilibrium shrinkage region with respect to the measurement temperature was smaller than the one in air. It decreased with increasing CO 2 density to 0.08 g/cm 3 but remained constant at the higher density.

In Japan, where a safe and secure society has been established, stab proof clothing that are suitable for police and security officers supporting are required. So far, most of the stab-proof clothing is made of the metal plate or thick multi-layered fabric with high-strength fibers. It is commonly used as a stab-proof vest because it cannot cope with the large deformations, which caused by the joints such as arms or neck. This research aims to develop high flexible stab-proof clothing that can be applied in large-deformation part such as joints with high stab-proof performance. We developed a testing device that can measure bending characteristics under the same conditions as when the stab proof clothing is actually worn on the human body. The usefulness of the evaluation method was confirmed. And the factors that affect the bendability of the elbow joint were also be studied. The mechanical properties of the material and the gap between the arm and the cylindrical structure are greatly affected, and the effect of each bending angle on the bending moment is different. We considered the deformation of the material when it bending and then proposed a new stab-resistant material structure and trial production. The cylindrical bending test shows that the flexibility of the new structure is greatly improved.

Compact spinning is the modification of existing ring spinning technology. The structure and quality of yarn are improved by using this spinning technique. This experimental work explores the effect of air suction pressure on the quality of compact yarn. Due to this reason, five samples of 52 Ne yarn were produced using different negative suction pressures such as 17 mbar, 19 mbar, 21 mbar, 23 mbar and 25 mbar (1 mbar = 100 Pa) in Suessen Elite@ system by changing the frequency of inverter. Samples were collected and then results were carried out. After that, the quality parameters of the produced yarn such as Mass variation (CVm%), Imperfection index, Hairiness and Count Strength Product (CSP) were analyzed along with calculating the power consumption against different suction pressures using the inverter frequency. Finally, the test results showed that yarn obtained from 23 mbar negative suction pressure was optimum considering the yarn quality and power consumption compared to others. This experimental work will provide an idea for spinners’ to choose optimum suction pressure for producing minimum imperfection and hairiness of compact yarn.

The significant factors’ association during brand preference between local and foreign and how the purchase frequency of buying any clothes occurs have been investigated. The data have been collected by a structured questionnaire among the respondents who presently living in Dhaka city and the regular buyers of clothing & garments of different brands-foreign & local. Convenience sampling method has been used with a sample size of 200 consumers for data collection. Hypotheses have been developed and tested by chi-square to analyse the significance among different demographic factors. This study has helped to understand the scenario of the consumers’ interest and preference for branded clothes as well as evidence of that with monthly family income and different age group may vary the frequency of purchase pattern.

Fiber placement and fiber distribution characteristics of nonwoven surfaces significantly affect the physical, mechanical and permeability properties of the fabric. In the studies from the literature, significant relationships between fiber distribution and porosity with mechanical performance properties have been revealed. In this study, an algorithm developed using image processing techniques for statistical data related to texture features were obtained images from nonwoven surface fabric samples. The texture features obtained were used as input data in the artificial neural network model. Air permeability, machine direction breaking strength, cross direction breaking strenth, and breaking elongation performance characteristics were used as output data. Thus, it is aimed to estimate the air permeability, breaking strength and breaking elongation performances of the fabric samples produced with spunlace (hydroentaglement bonding) technology without testing by using the texture characteristic features obtained directly from the surface images. As a result, the correlation coefficient values of R2 = 0,97 in air permeability, R2 = 0,90 in breaking strength and R2 = 0,89 in breaking elongation were obtained between experimental results and artificial neural network prediction results.

Starting from the product development stage in the enterprises, conducting various researches and analyzes is important in reaching the product that will meet consumer expectations. In this study, Analytical Hierarchy Process method and Quality Function Deployment, which had not been applied in bathrobe product development process before, were used utilized in order to design bathrobes in accordance with consumer expectations. In this study, the expectations of consumers from bathrobes were determined by face-to-face interview technique, and their priorities in purchasing bathrobes were obtained by Analytical Hierarchy Process method. The priorities were included in the Quality Function Deployment in the voice of the customer and the quality house was established with the addition of technical requirements. Customer expectations, technical production details and product alternatives were solved with the quality house matrix. As a result of the solution of the matrix, the bathrobe alternative, customer criterion and technical requirements that meet the consumer expectations in bathrobe production were provided. The results showed that the most important criteria for bathrobes were color, usability and fabric surface, respectively. So it was found that the bathrobes made of bamboo fiber was the most satisfying product.
