The paper presents the bit error rate (BER) analysis of a GMSK system employing various forms of differential detection. The desired signal is assumed to experience Rician fading while multiple co-channel interference (CCI) suffer from Rayleigh fading. The effects of fading rate (fast or slow fading) and time and frequency dispersions are also examined.

Terrestrial versus mobile satellite based broadband networks for use in feeding wireless local loop systems 用于馈送无线本地环路系统的地面与移动卫星宽带网络

The paper provides a comparison between terrestrial and mobile satellite based broadband network planning for use in feeding terrestrial wireless local loop (WLL) systems. After presenting a typical WLL urban scenario the terrestrial design for connecting the WLL nodes to a terrestrial backbone network via two pops (point of presence) is given. This design is followed by introducing the envisioned TELEDESIC/sup TM/ broadband mobile satellite network including its technical features and limitations. Based on this mobile satellite broadband network a design for connecting the same WLL nodes as in the first case is provided. Special limitations due to the characteristic requirements of the 20/30 GHz transmission environment as well as dynamic channel allocation issues are taken into account.

Short-term fading prediction-based power control method for DS-CDMA cellular mobile radio networks 基于短时衰落预测的DS-CDMA蜂窝无线网络功率控制方法

A modified multi-step SIR-based down-link power control method is proposed The main idea is to predict the variation of Rayleigh fading from the received signal-to-interference ratio and then to track it in time. A computer program is included to simulate the performance of this new method and the original multi-step SIR-based method. Simulation results show that, of the two methods, the former performs better than the latter.

A scheduling scheme for the heterogeneous multimedia services in mobile broadband systems 移动宽带系统中异构多媒体业务的调度方案

As the development of the third generation mobile systems proceed, researchers are turning their attention to the integration of multimedia service under the wired and wireless environments. One challenging requirement is that mobile systems convey information of diverse types including voice, computer data, facsimile, and video data which has different quality of service constraints. Basically, a centralized control scheme for a coordinated multiple access is required in order to efficiently accommodate multimedia traffic on wireless links. The proposed scheme dynamically scheduling the mobile terminal which has data to transfer according to the service types at the base station. In this scheme, we select the key point of the quality of service as the time constraint between transmission intervals. Simulation results show that exploiting the information on the timestamp in the transmission terminal scheduling is a good solution in respect to delay sensitive services.

Comparison of energy minimising algorithms for channel assignment in mobile radio networks 移动无线网络中信道分配能量最小化算法的比较

In the design of mobile radio networks assigning sufficient channels to base stations without causing unacceptable interference is an increasingly difficult task. In this paper a comparison of the performance of three channel assignment algorithms is made. The algorithms are based on general techniques for finding nearly optimal solutions to hard optimisation problems, namely simulated annealing, simulated jumping, and the subspace approach.

Compressed mode techniques for inter-frequency measurements in a wide-band DS-CDMA system 宽频带DS-CDMA系统中频间测量的压缩模式技术

We discuss inter-frequency hand-over (IFHO) in third generation cellular systems based on wide-band DS-CDMA. In order to provide maximum flexibility for future radio network design, it is important to develop a technique allowing reliable IFHO in the system. The compressed mode (CM) scheme first presented by Baier et. al (see IEEE JSAC, vol.12, no.4, p.733-43, 1994) facilitates the use of the mobile-assisted hand-over (MAHO) technique commonly used in all second generation systems, also for IFHO in a CDMA system. We present and analyze four different ways of achieving a CM mechanism in a CDMA system. It is found that methods based on a variable spreading factor and coding-rate increment may be of most interest for practical use.

Performance of multicarrier trellis-coded slow-FH/16QAM with an interference immunity decoding 抗干扰译码多载波栅格编码慢跳频/16QAM的性能研究

We propose the multicarrier trellis coded slow FH/16QAM with an interference immunity decoding method to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance in digital land mobile communications. In our scheme, we estimate the power of the co-channel interference (CCI) using space symbols inserted in several slots to obtain the weight value per carrier. We carry out the immunity decoding method considering the amplitude of the interference symbols in calculating the branch metric. The BER performance of the system is investigated by computer simulation. It is shown that the performance of the proposed system is affected by the CCI per carrier. This scheme is more effective in restraining the effects of CCI especially for the uplink of cellular systems and in the case where the processing delay time is restricted, such as in mobile speech communications, compared with traditionally decoding.

Medium access control for advanced cellular Internet services 高级蜂窝因特网服务的介质访问控制

Advanced cellular Internet services (ACIS) are targeted for applications such as web browsing with a peak downlink rate on the order of 1-2 Mb/s using the wide-area cellular infrastructure. PCS or new spectrum allocations by the FCC could be used for ACIS. In order to provide bandwidth on demand using scarce spectrum, the medium access control (MAC) protocol must: (1) handle dynamic and diverse traffic with high throughput and (2) efficiently reuse limited spectrum with high peak rates and good quality. Most of the existing approaches do not address the second aspect. In this paper, we first outline the problems for media access for ACIS and review some existing approaches, followed by a discussion of the proposed methodology. The remaining part focuses on a channel assignment method which combines the concepts of interference sensing and priority ordering to dynamically reuse spectrum with low interference probability. Preliminary simulation results based on a packetized voice model indicate that this method is able to reuse spectrum efficiently in a large cellular system having many users with short active periods.

Capacity of MC-FDMA in mobile communications 移动通信中MC-FDMA的容量

We study the performance of MC-FDMA when applied in mobile communications. We describe two MC-FDMA strategies with control from the base station, telling the users which channels to use. Then we describe a strategy without control from the base station, where the users randomly select their subchannels. For this strategy we describe a joint-detection decoding algorithm with interference cancellation which increases the performance. We compute the optimum number of selected subchannels per user for the random strategy, and describe an adaptive optimum random strategy. In order to compare the different strategies we compute the user capacity, that is the amount of information per transmitted block. Since the number of users in cities is bigger, we consider typical urban channels (TUX) for our simulations.

Then we describe a strategy without control from the base station, where the users randomly select their subchannels. For this strategy we describe a joint-detection decoding algorithm with interference cancellation which increases the performance. We compute the optimum number of selected subchannels per user for the random strategy, and describe an adaptive optimum random strategy. In order to compare the different strategies we compute the user capacity, that is the amount of information per transmitted block. Fuzzy logic for robust detection in wireless communications 模糊逻辑在无线通信中的鲁棒检测

This work addresses the problem of spatial reference estimation in mobile scenarios. Novel techniques based on fuzzy logic are introduced to enhance the performance of a tracking system. Specifically, the model-free function approximation capability of fuzzy logic is used to obtain high resolution angle estimates from the spatial spectral density. These estimates are used to improve the resolution of the tracker. To the authors knowledge it is the first time that fuzzy logic is introduced in array spectral estimation. This work also develops a fuzzy controller for acting as an interpolative supervisor of different trackers that apply in different operating conditions of the dynamic nonlinear system. The result is a localization and tracking system that attains a resolution comparable to that of high resolution techniques as the minimum variance or Capon estimator. One of the main features of the proposed technique is its low computational burden. In summary, the presented system supports the expectation of adaptive arrays for obtaining a communication front-end of affordable complexity, developing cost and good performance.
