Scientific-methodical approaches of identifying the main factors for attracting deposits in the Ukrainian banking system are presented in this paper. The author offers the following procedure: a comparative analysis of the long-term dynamics (2000–2017) of the placement of deposits in Ukrainian, Belarussian, and Polish banking systems as a result of socio-economic development trends in these countries; an estimation at the macroeconomic level of the factors influencing this process, using methods of principal components analysis and factors classification; and detection of regression-correlating dependencies between the grouping variable (deposit volume) and variables of analysis through the sample regression function identification for these countries. The theory that attraction of deposits to the Ukrainian banking system was turbulent due to both the insufficient development of other financial market institutions and the prudent behavior of national economy agents is substantiated. Activation of bank deposit activity was found to be connected with measures of demographic situational improvements, thus ensuring the economic freedom of business entities in a hybrid war with the Russian Federation.

Many researches have dedicated their work in IT Governance and numerous methods, techniques and tools for making decisions to align IT to a business strategy were proposed in the last decade. In the meantime new digital business models developed rapidly and aligning business with IT have become more difficult ever. Governance frameworks are widely used to reduce complexity in the decision making process and organisations tend to use several topic related governance frameworks beside IT Governance. Different governance frameworks are related, dependent and interact under each other and since they all have their own method of measurement and evaluation, the interaction suffers of a lack of data consistency or they do not take all dimensions of decision making into account. Furthermore the lack of consistency is caused by definition of governance frameworks itself and lead to concurring goals among governing bodies. This paper proposes a design goal for a method of measurement by (1) critically review the existing state of art of measurement and evaluation concepts of governance frameworks by following a comprehensive review of the normative literature dealing with the measurement aspects of IT Governance and (2) analysing a dataset (n=51) of a preliminary study done in spring 2017 with Swiss companies.

Although interest in the catching-up strategy of developing countries has increased during recent years, this line of research is focused on national analysis from the beginning, using developed nations as a benchmark for productive lagging-behind countries, which need to be reviewed. Accordingly, we utilize literature analysis method to distinguish the difference among developing and developed countries of the catching-up process. Based on our analysis, we state that the lagging-behind countries have late-coming advantages. In the short term, the developing countries are able to achieve technical imitation by catching-up with the technology. However, in the long run, imitation innovation is always based on the main concepts of developed countries, and does not really integrate the actual situation and social resources with the economic situation of developing countries. Consequently, it is essential for developing countries to find an innovative way to fulfill the transformation.

Two themes of best human resource management practices –– employee empowerment and engagement have been considered a fundamental tool to increase the retention within any organization. The research paper utilized qualitative-descriptive design through secondary sources of data collection, which centralized on the case of Volkswagen Group, its retention rates and various programs offered to employees. The analysis establishes the link between employee retention and the two variables employee empowerment and engagement. It has been revealed that employee empowerment and engagement are significant links to retention. Moreover, both empowerment and engagement contribute to a more open, innovative environment, faster decision-making, and more importantly, create loyalty and organizational commitment. The company under study serves as an excellent example of high retention rates as well as a company that focuses a lot on its employees and their happiness within the organization despite its concerns in the past.

The article validates the relevance of the implementation of international standards in the national anti-corruption policy, taking into account the progressive and sustainable development of corrupt practices in Ukraine. The purpose of the research is to propose a structural and functional algorithm for improving the process of establishing criminal liability for corruption-related crimes following international anti-corruption standards using the method of structural and functional modeling. The level of implementation and compliance of national legislation with international standards for combating corruption was assessed, which allowed identifying conflicts in legislative and normative acts on the formation of the list of corruption crimes and the procedures used for their investigations by type of legal responsibility. The article presents a structural and logical algorithm for the implementation of international standards in determining criminal liability for corruption-related offenses in Ukraine.

Choice of modes is a critical decision that firms conducting equity-based foreign direct investment must make since it has a significant effect on performance. Entry mode choice has been a major topic in international business research up to now. As the largest country in size in Central Asia and a large economic potential, Kazakhstan became one of the main destinations for foreign direct investment in this area while transitioning to a market-based economy after gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. This paper investigates the main firm- and country-specific factors that affect the choice of equity-based entry modes of foreign investors entering Kazakhstan between a joint venture (JV) and a wholly-owned subsidiary (WOS). We establish hypotheses regarding the effects of such factors on the mode choice and empirically test the hypotheses with secondary data on foreign companies’ entry in Kazakhstan, using binomial logit regression analysis.

This research investigates the factors that impact consumer purchase intention towards instant noodle products in the Hungarian market. A comprehensive literature review indicates that there are five main factors that have impact on willingness to purchase instant noodle products, which is the measurement item to purchase intention towards instant noodle products. However, the results show that there are four main factors, which are packaging (appearance), product aspect of price (product price compared to average), promotion (drive, marketing communication) and convenience (decision-making process, time spent on preparing food, time spent on shopping). The research concludes that young (less than 35), single, lower educated (elementary school, high school or vocational/associate’s degree) and below average or close to average (less than 100,000 HUF and 100,001-200,000 HUF) net earners show the highest willingness to purchase. This consumer profile is to be targeted by business professionals to enhance purchasing of instant noodle products in Hungary.

In the proposed research, authors reveal disadvantages of economic evaluation in the system of value-oriented management of the enterprise, in particular principles and methods of formation of evaluation systems that are based on a combination of formalized and non-formalized indicators. The purpose of the survey is representing the assumptions and justification of substantiations about high objectivity and quality of those methods of value evaluation of enterprise capital, that lean on formalized indicators of the public financial report of the enterprise. The methods of a theoretical analysis, interviewing results and the assessment of indicators’ quality in the evaluation algorithm are used in the survey. The analysis of principles and generally accepted norms in systems of standardization of financial report, their comparison with market-based approaches and methods of evaluation of enterprise value were carried out during the survey. The results became the basis for justification of the author’s position about the necessity of forming the value-oriented concept of the financial report for the provision of information needs of incorporate management, markets of capital and investments. Based on the analyzed results there were revealed weak aspects of methods of discounting the money flows, the profitability of invested capital and expert evaluation of informative and intellectual resources, that in many cases cause the recapitalization of modern companies. In general, the results of the survey gave the opportunity to form argumentation about necessary adjustments of all the structure of valuation measurement and offer separate directions for further surveys.

This paper explores the association of both central bank independence (CBI) and financial market development with the economic performance of Turkey together with six former centrally planned former Soviet Union countries located in Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA countries). First, we construct a legal independence index (LVAW) for central banks. Then, we analyze the relationship between central bank independence and macroeconomic variables. Our findings suggest that there is a positive correlation between central bank independence and GDP growth, whereas the sign of correlation between CBI and GDP deflator is negative. Besides, the economies with higher level of financial deepening are also associated with high CBI.
