An Adaptive Turbo Coded-OFDM Scheme for Visible Light Communications 一种用于可见光通信的自适应Turbo编码ofdm方案

In visible light communications (VLC) the main bottleneck is the limited bandwidth of the light emitting diodes, which limits the maximum transmission data rates. Multicarrier modulation schemes are one possible option to increase the data rate as well as improve the link performance. In this paper, we present the turbo coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme to mitigate interference and noise as well as to remove multipath induced inter symbol interference in a VLC system. Simulation results are used to compare the performance of the proposed system compared to classical optical OFDM schemes of DC-biased optical and asymmetrically clipped optical-OFDM. The results presented may be used to investigate the interaction between VLC system parameters (e.g., receiver field- of-view limitation, incident angle, light emitting diode power)and the bit error rate performance of the soft turbo decoder.

Capacity Analysis of an AF Relaying Asymmetric RF-FSO System in a Cognitive Radio Network 认知无线网络中AF中继非对称RF-FSO系统容量分析

This paper presents a performance analysis for the average channel capacity of an asymmetric two-hop cooperative relaying in cognitive-radio system, in which the first hop is a radio-frequency (RF) link and the second hop is a free-space-optical (FSO) communication link. In the considered cognitive radio, the licence spectrum of a primary user (PU)is shared with an unlicensed user, denoted as secondary user (SU), using underlay spectrum-sharing and power control mechanism to keep the interference at the PU receiver side, always below a given threshold. For the FSO link, some practical issues such as pointing errors, and atmospheric turbulence are taken into considerations, where the IM/DD scheme is used for signal detection. It is also assumed that RF and FSO links follow the Rayleigh and the Gamma-Gamma distributions, respectively. To perform a performance analysis, the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the received signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) at the SU receiver is presented. Using the CDF expression, a closed-form expression is derived for the average channel capacity of the considered hybrid RF-FSO system. Finally, the numerical results as well as Monte-Carlo simulation results, and discussions are presented.

On the Ergodic Capacity of Ground-To-UAV Free-Space Optical Communications 地-无人机自由空间光通信遍历能力研究

Recently, free-space optical (FSO)communications have gained an increased popularity for data transfer between unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Despite providing large unlicensed bandwidth, the channel capacity of UAV-based FSO links is negatively affected by atmospheric turbulence-induced fading, pointing error due to the position and orientation deviations of hovering UAVs along with link interruption probability due to the joint effects of angle-of-arrival (AOA)fluctuation and receiver field-of-view (FOV)limitation. For a better understanding of UAV-based FSO systems, it is important to study the capacity of such channels, which is the main goal of this paper. To this aim, we first derive the closed-form expression for ergodic capacity of ground-to-UAV link in terms of well-known elementary functions. Then, we characterize the influence of different system parameters on the ergodic capacity of UAV channels.

The Implementation of Adaptive Networks with Visible Light Communication Channels Modeled with Gamma-Gamma Turbulence 基于γ - γ湍流的可见光通信信道自适应网络的实现

This paper considers the possibility and the details of implementing adaptive networks with visible light communication technology. Adaptive networks have various indoor and outdoor applications hence, their implementations with light waves face with different problems. Almost all free space optical (FSO)communication systems must deal with two channel deficiencies namely, optical noise and channel turbulence. Both channel noise and turbulence follow certain distributions that we explain in detail. In this paper, we analyze the effects of these disturbances on the estimation performance of incremental adaptive networks and present the results using various simulations. The results are presented by the means of mean square error values. Also, for Gaussian noise and Gamma-Gamma turbulence models we derived the theoretical mean square deviation (MSD)and excess mean square error (EMSE)values and compared them with the simulation outcomes.

On the Reduction of Background Radiation for Differential Signaling FSO Systems 差分信号FSO系统背景辐射的减小研究

In this paper, we propose a weighted differential signaling scheme for a 2 ⨯ 1 free-space optical (FSO)communication system to suppress the correlated background radiations, while minimizing the bit error rate (BER)of the system. In contrast to conventional differential signaling which is based on equal gain combining (EGC)of the two wavelengths, here, the two wavelengths are combined at the receiver using non-equal channel-dependent weighting factors. By formulating the BER of the system and the background suppression criterion, the optimal weights are derived by minimizing the BER under background suppression constraints. Since the aforementioned optimization problem is non-convex, we optimize the upper bound of BER and show that the optimal scheme outperforms the conventional EGC scheme. Numerical results confirm the superiority of the proposed scheme in terms of achievable BER upper-bound compared to classical EGC method.

Fog Mitigation Using SCM and Lens in FSO Communications FSO通信中基于单片机和透镜的雾抑制技术

A free space optical (FSO)communications link performance is highly affected by the atmospheric conditions. This paper compares the effectiveness of employing a spherical concave mirror (SCM)and a convex lens at the receiver to compensate for the effect of fog in FSO communication links. The results show that, for the fog induced signal attenuation lower than 9.17dB there is a marginal improvement in the FSO link performance in terms of the Q-factor by a maximum of 8% when using an SCM at the receiver compared with a regular lens.

Design and Simulation of a New Structure of Integrated All-Optical AND Logic Gate by Using Linear PC Nano-Resonator 基于线性PC纳米谐振器的新型集成全光逻辑门结构设计与仿真

This manuscript presents a simple nano-resonator for using in an all-optical AND logic gate based on the photonic crystals. This nano-resonator is formed by changing the size of a dielectric rod in the photonic crystal structure. In this structure, the mechanism of interference effect is used which requires less power. The results reveal that the contrast ratio is 6 dB. The output optical power at logical level “one” is enough to be able to set up the next gate. In addition to simplicity, the use of nano-resonator also increases the speed of logic gate performance. Due to the features considered for the all-optical AND logic gate, it can be used in optical integrated circuits and optical communication systems.

Anticipatory Approaches for Resource Allocation in LiFi Networks LiFi网络中资源分配的预期方法

As a promising solution for future indoor access networks, resource allocation in Visible light communication or LiFi networks is subject to lots of researches. An interesting approach for network algorithm design is to use some knowledge about the future of the network. With this regards, the anticipatory design may improve the performance of the system in terms of delay and throughput. This paper reviews the state-of-the-art anticipatory algorithms proposed in the literature, given different prediction capabilities. Apart from the amount of possible prediction, two main approaches have been proposed for problem formulation. The optimal anticipatory resource allocation problem can be formulated in terms of a T-step look-ahead optimization problem. This approach requires more accurate information about the future of the network and yields higher performance improvements. The objective function can be adjusted to achieve high fairness and throughput or low latency in the system. On the other hand, the resource allocation algorithm can be expressed as a matching problem on a bipartite graph. The partial knowledge of the future can be added to the problem using proper heuristic preference functions.

A 3 × 25 Mbps WDM-Ro-VLC System for Amateur Radio Applications 用于业余无线电应用的3x25mbps WDM-Ro-VLC系统

Radio over visible light communications (Ro-VLC) can be a pioneering technology to provide ubiquitous radio services particularly in the radio network-permitted locations. In this work, three channels, each up-converted to a 50 MHz radio signal carrying 25 Mbps data, is transmitted over a 0.5 m visible light communications link by using the cost effective on-off key (OOK) modulation format. Three red, green and blue light emitting diodes are adopted for parallel transmission. We show simulation results, carried out using OptiSystem™ software, for the bit error rates for the proposed diffuse system for both nonreturn to zero and return to zero data formats.

Outage Analysis of UAV-based FSO Systems Over Log-Normal Turbulence Channels 基于无人机的FSO系统在对数正态湍流信道上的中断分析

Free-space optical (FSO)communication systems have recently attracted an ever increasing popularity for data transfer between unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Although providing wide unlicensed bandwidth, the channel capacity of UAV-based FSO links is negatively affected by atmospheric turbulence-induced fading, pointing errors due to the position and orientation deviations of hovering UAVs along with interruption probability due to the joint effects of angle-of-arrival fluctuations and receiver field-of-view limitations. Due to these undesirable limitations, outage probability is commonly considered as an important metric for performance analysis in FSO links. So, in this paper, we derive the closed-form expression for outage probability of UAV-based FSO links. To confirm the accuracy of the proposed analytical results, we compare these outage rates to those provided by Monte-Carlo simulations.
