In this research work, two energy management controllers are proposed: swarm optimization fuzzy mamdani (SOFM) and swarm optimization fuzzy sugeno (SOFS) for the efficient scheduling and controlling of the electric loads in a residential building which is comprised of 10 apartments having the single family setup. Two types of electric loads are considered in terms of: daily used appliances and the seasonally used appliances. In addition, two demand side management strategies are used for managing both type of loads concerning to the load shifting and load curtailment. Daily used electric loads are the commonly used appliances considered in the residential buildings; whereas in the seasonally used electric loads, only air-conditioning systems are considered. Load scheduling technique (binary particle swarm optimization) is applied for the scheduling of daily used electric loads whereas load curtailment strategy (fuzzy logic) is applied for the seasonally used electric loads in order to manage the load in an effective fashion. The input parameters are: number of appliances, time-slots, power rating, length of operation time and utility price in case of the daily used electric loads; whereas in case of the seasonally used electric loads, we considered the following input parameters: initialized setpoints, user occupancy, price ratings, indoor and outdoor temperature. Output parameters considered for both types of the electric loads are: energy consumption (EC), cost, peak to average ratio (PAR) and energy efficiency. Simulations are performed in Matlab and results proved that our proposed controllers: SOFM and SOFS outperformed the unscheduled and existing approaches in terms of minimizing EC, cost, PAR and energy efficiency. SOFM outperformed to the existing and unscheduled approach till 45% and 48% in terms of minimizing EC and cost reduction.

Technological advancement and evolution is rapidly changing the field of commerce. This change has introduced the concept of e-shopping. e-shopping is defined as the sale and purchase of products and services over the internet. This new mode of shopping has its own merits and demerits. In an effective e-shopping design, it is very important to consider its navigational system, usability and usefulness. Based on these designing factors, people decide whether to adopt this shopping mode or not. Some of the security risks in e-shopping are loopholes in data integrity, security and secure or safe payment mechanism. An online survey has been conducted to ask potential and existing customers about these factors and how does that affect their preferences to go for online shopping. Not only, this empirical method is used to analyze and interpret the results collected from the surveys. In addition, conceptual model is proposed to cover the security issues regarding e-shopping.

A Layered structure printed dipole antenna using through via-hole mechanism has been proposed for phased array radars. For the dipole a low dielectric constant Rogers 5880 substrate has been used to stabilize the structure for high power while, the transmission line feed has been put on a high dielectric constant Rogers TMM10 substrate, to suppress unnecessary radiation, coupling and reducing the size of the antenna. Printed balun has been used to match the impedance by providing a balanced network in order to reduce the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) as much as possible. Via-hole configuration provides an increase in the bandwidth as compared to the open stub configuration and helps to establish a connection between dipole layer and transmission line mechanism. The resonant frequency is set to 2.8 GHz. A 50% reduction in the size of the antenna is also observed, making it feasible for large array antennas. All the results have been calculated using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) simulation tool, further, the prototyping has been done and S-parameter results are cross-verified, which indeed validates the simulation results.

This paper designs and compares three different filtering methods to reduce the effects of noise in medical health applications such as an electrocardiogram (ECG). The low pass filter excludes the noise at a low-level, moving average filter takes average values of the signal, and Finite Impulse Response (FIR) removes the high frequency components from the ECG and gives the low frequency component which is the desired information signal. Simulation results reveal that FIR filter performs better by reducing the attenuation in the ECG signal than low pass filter and moving average filters and is appropriate for the medical health applications.

Electronic image stabilization (EIS) is an important video enhancement technology which aims at removing annoying random jitter from videos. At present, the commonly EIS algorithm is to filter the feature trajectory, such as Kalman filter and Median filter. However, the filtered trajectories of these methods are greatly deviated from the original trajectory, and the images often lose large information after being stabilized. This paper uses affine SIFT (ASIFT) feature matching method to get the best estimating the affine matrix, then Gaussian low-pass filtering of the original path can compensate for the motion of the smoothed path, then the jitter frame is stabilized. Compared with Kalman filter, the experiments show that Gaussian filter better retains the camera active motion, stabilized video sequences lost less pixel information.

We exist in a digital world where even small information is shared and discussed on social media from every part of the world. Social media have great impact on individual learning and play a role in one's decision making. In this paper, we have employed machine learning and pattern classification algorithms to see whether there exists any correlation between social media online discussion forums and people's browsing behavior. We have analyzed and proposed a new casting (predicting) model to understand the correlation between social attention and study abroad trend among Pakistani students. Analysis has been carried out with the three different parameters that include Tendency, Seasonality, and Correlation between the Google Trend tool and online discussion forums for students about the general information of studying abroad in different countries for availing different Scholarships. Correlation analysis identifies the degree of relationship or dependency between these two variables. Proposed work offers novel point of view in the area of data mining and machine learning to investigate and predict the relationship between study-abroad tend and browsing behavior of Pakistani students.

Breast cancer is among world's second most occurring cancer in all types of cancer. Most common cancer among women worldwide is breast cancer. There is always need of advancement when it comes to medical imaging. Early detection of cancer followed by the proper treatment can reduce the risk of deaths. Machine learning can help medical professionals to diagnose the disease with more accuracy. Where deep learning or neural networks is one of the techniques which can be used for the classification of normal and abnormal breast detection. CNN can be used for this detection. Mammograms-MIAS dataset is used for this purpose, having 322 mammograms in which almost 189 images are of normal and 133 are of abnormal breasts. Promising experimental results have been obtained which depict the efficacy of deep learning for breast cancer detection in mammogram images and further encourage the use of deep learning based modern feature extraction and classification methods in various medical imaging applications especially in breast cancer detection. It is an ongoing research and further developments are being made by optimizing the CNN architecture and also employing pre-trained networks which will hopefully lead to higher accuracy measures. Proper segmentation is mandatory for efficient feature extraction and classification.

In this paper, we study challenges of electricity consumption management in smart grid, and focus on the different impact of operational time intervals of appliances to ascertain if consumer's comfort can be maximized. The appliance execution process is built on continuous cycle parts, having a demand power rating with objective of obtaining a minimal electricity bill satisfying period, energy need and consumer choice limits. Harmony search optimization technique is propose to schedule home appliances. Results from simulation show that optimization technique is able to yield our set of objectives: electricity bill minimization, energy consumption minimization, peak to average ratio reduction and consumer comfort maximization. Additionally, feasible region (FR) is calculated for appliances which show relationship in terms of cost and energy load.

More advancement has been observed in the design and development of multimedia based embedded systems in recent years. As a result of such advancements, new development boards and techniques are being released very frequently. This paper presents a comparison of two state of the art processors of AMD (Advanced Micro Devices). The two RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) architecture based processors are 4x ARM (Advanced RISC Machine) Cortex-A7 CPU (Central Processing Unit) and 4x ARM Cortex-A53. These two processors have been used in Raspberry Pi 2 and Raspberry Pi 3, respectively. The comparison of these two processors, in terms of their suitability for compressed visual multimedia information has been carried out by implementing JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) compression, and calculating the execution time of different modules of the algorithm. The results suggest that 4x ARM Cortex-A53 provides better results in JPEG compression than 4x ARM Cortex-A7 CPU.
