: Since the turn to the 21st century, new theoretical perspectives on plural policing have conceptualized crime control activities beyond the police. Although this pluralism is also a Brazilian reality, policing studies in the country have not yet had their scope broadened and those perspectives remain virtually unknown. This article reviews the most influential and illustrative theoretical perspectives on plural policing. The aim is to present their conceptual frameworks, systematize their research questions and, based on this, propose an agenda on plural policing in Brazil. As results, the review identifies nine perspectives, distinguished in four dimensions, and lists their main issues in an analytical frame.

: This article presents a study on cases of re-nunciation of criminal representation by women in situations of intimate partner violence in a Specialized Police Station for Assistance to Women in Brazil. Based on participant observation of police response to complaints and interviews with women who resigned, practices of applying unconditionality to criminal representation in cases of physical violence and two groups of resignation actions, called strategies and dilemmas, were identified. These actions were understood by the consubstantiality of gender and social class.

deploying an ethnographic observation of the exchange of accusations between residents of the Santa Marta favela in Rio de Janeiro and agents of the electricity company Light during the time of the Units of the Pacifying Police. We found a predominance, in both sides, of the insinuation of fraud, a veiled accusation of theft – of electricity on the one hand and of money on the other. The relationship between service providers and customers persists between the payment of supposedly abusive bills and the tolerance of the “gato” allegedly practiced by residents.

of military police officers (PMs) from 23 states in Brazil at the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic. We observed how general aspects of the health crisis impacted and led PMs to review their protocols and how social rearrangements caused by the pandemic affected policing. The research shows that covid-19 created conditions for officers to manifest vulnerabilities such as insufficient equipment, lack of investment in general, fragility on institutional assistance to police mental health and, finally, lack of social and professional recognition.

Após o ciclo de protestos que levou multidões às ruas em 2013 e demonstrou o caráter violento da polícia com os manifestantes, as práticas policiais em manifestações passaram a ser monitoradas pela sociedade civil. Esta pesquisa analisa o campo do policiamento de manifestações e o contexto dos protestos ocorridos de 2013 a 2016, em São Paulo, com base nos relatórios da ONG Artigo 19, a fim de apresentar as táticas utilizadas pela polícia. Assim, foi possível concluir que a polícia se especializou nas táticas de detenção e vigilantismo, além de utilizar da "incapacitação estratégica" com movimentos autonomistas. After the cycle of protests that brought crowds to the streets in 2013 and demonstrated the violent character of the police with protesters, police practices in demonstrations began to be monitored by civil society. Policing Demonstrations: Repertoire if Police Action in São Paulo (2013– 2016) analyzes the field of policing demonstrations and the context of the protests that occurred in São Paulo, based on the reports of the NGO Article 19, in order to present the tactics used by the police. Thus, it was possible to conclude that the police specialized in detention and vigilantism tactics, as well as using "strategic incapacitation" with autonomist movements.
