To prevent fungal deterioration of house mandarin during storage and transportation, a bacterium, (cid:9478)(cid:9509)(cid:9511)(cid:9517)(cid:9520)(cid:9520)(cid:9529)(cid:9527) (cid:9524)(cid:9529)(cid:9521)(cid:9517)(cid:9520)(cid:9529)(cid:9527) TM-R, producing volatile antifungal organic compounds(VAOCs)with strong activity was applied as a biological control agent, which was an alternative to chemical fungicidal treatment. The surface of house mandarin was contaminated with conidiospores of (cid:9479)(cid:9520)(cid:9509)(cid:9512)(cid:9523)(cid:9527)(cid:9524)(cid:9523)(cid:9526)(cid:9517)(cid:9529)(cid:9521) (cid:9511)(cid:9520)(cid:9509)(cid:9512)(cid:9523)(cid:9527)(cid:9524)(cid:9523)(cid:9526)(cid:9517)(cid:9523)(cid:9517)(cid:9512)(cid:9513)(cid:9527), and the fruits were incubated with a culture of (cid:9478)(cid:9458) (cid:9524)(cid:9529)(cid:9521)(cid:9517)(cid:9520)(cid:9529)(cid:9527) TM-R in a sealed container at (cid:9875)(cid:9872)℃ for (cid:9879) days. Deterioration was significantly reduced by the presence of the bacterium. VAOCs produced by the bacterium inhibited the germination of conidiospores and mycelium elongation. Among (cid:9874)(cid:9872)(cid:9880) bacterial isolates newly obtained from soil and manure, (cid:9878) isolates showed a stronger and wider antifungal activity. (cid:9478)(cid:9458) (cid:9524)(cid:9529)(cid:9521)(cid:9517)(cid:9520)(cid:9529)(cid:9527) TM-R was, however, still the strongest in the production of VAOCs for suppressing fungal growth.
