The taxonomic revision of the genus Caiophora (Loasaceae) in Argentina is here provided, sixtyyears after the publication of the first complete treatment of the genus for the country. In Argentina,Caiophora is represented by 15 species (six endemic), which are distributed in the mountains of the northwesternand central regions of the country. A key to identify the species is provided, plus detailed morphologicaldescriptions, actualized synonymy, data on geographic distribution, and illustrations. A newspecies, Caiophora sleumerii, is described, the name C. spegazzinii is revalidated, and C. canarinoidesis recorded for the first time in Argentina. Ten lectotypes are here designated for Caiophora aconquijae,C. angustisecta, C. coronata, C. dumetorum, C. orbignyana, C. pycnophylla, C. saltensis, C. spegazzinii,C. superba and Loasa heptamera, and a neotype is here proposed for Loasa chuquitensis.

So far the information about the genus Megalastrum (Dryopteridaceae) for Argentina is fragmented and incomplete. A revision of Megalastrum in Argentina is here presented; it is represented by six species: M. adenopteris , M. ciliatum , M. connexum , M. crenulans , M. fugaceum , and M. spectabile . A key to the species is provided, plus descriptions, notes on distribution and habitat, as well as illustrations of diagnostic characters for each taxon. Megalastrum crenulans and M. spectabile are lectotypified. The species occur primarily in the Argentinean forests, with a disjunct distribution, three species grow in the north-western Yungas, two species grow in the Parana forest, and one species grows in the Valdivian temperate rain forest. Megalastrum pulverulentum and M. subincisum are excluded from the Argentinean flora.

This contribution intends to clarify the current name of a species of Astragalus from Chile, originally described as A. trifoliatus by Philippi and later considered by Spegazzini as A. valparadisiensis . We concluded that the latter name is a superfluous one, and that the current name of this endemic and restricted species should be A. trifoliatus .

Salvia is the biggest genus from Lamiceae, with almost 900 species. In Argentina it is represented by 23 taxa (20 species, one subspecies, and two varieties), four of these are adventive taxa, the rest are native, and one of these is endemic. Species are distributed predominantly in the north region of the territory, reaching the provinces of La Pampa and Mendoza as the southern limit of its distribution. Each of the 23 Salvia taxa present in Argentina is described and illustrated, and a key for their identification is presented. Three new synonyms are proposed, Salvia borjensis new synonym of Salvia nervosa, Salvia durifolia new synonym of Salvia ovalifolia var. ovalifolia and Salvia alba new synonym of Salvia personata , and ten lectotypes are designated for: Salvia approximata, S. arenaria, S. ovalifolia var. villosa, S. pallida, S. procurrens, S. reflexa, S. serrata, S. stachydifolia, S. uliginosa, and Salvia sect. Pycnosphace.

Edible plant species and their parts used by indigenous tapiete people in northeastern Salta province, Argentina are identified, as well as their gathering, elaboration, consumption and storage practices. The ultimate aim of this work is to contribute to the recording and appreciation of tapiete people knowledge about this matter. Five fieldworks were made to the semiarid northern Chaco and to Tartagal city, where ethnobotanical data were obtained from 75 interviews with a total of 32 qualified and occasional tapiete collaborators. Each of the edible plants was collected and identified by the authors and deposited at the Ruiz Leal Herbarium (MERL). A total of 54 native plants, belonging to 23 botanical families used as food by the tapiete, are recorded as forming part of 106 preparations, or consumption forms, and 13 forms of conservation. The main edible species are Anisocapparis speciosa, Prosopis aff. elata and Prosopis alba with six applications each, and Ziziphus mistol, Geoffroea decorticans and Funastrum clausum with four applications each. Most of these applications (55%; 59) do not include any preparation –they are consumed raw-, the 21% (22) are eaten cooked (boiled or roasted), while their use in beverages, condiment and flours represent a minority of their applications (24%; 25). Consumption of the leaves of Passiflora mooreana and P. cincinatta is registered here for the first time by ethnic groups from the Gran Chaco.
