This year’s awards from the National Sculpture Society were given to an exceptional group of recipients made up of sculptors, architects and designers. The Awards Committee met during the year to form a list of possible qualified recipients, drawn from our own survey and also selected from the recommendations from members of the NSS and the arts community. In selecting the finalists, the committee researched a broad group of professionals and vetted the sources and materials to secure a final list of recipients, which they submitted to the NSS Board at their January meeting. The award recommendations were approved unanimously. In sharing some of the highlights of the committee’s thoughts on some of the top awards, I thought that it might provide a useful insight into the award recipients and the reason why we made these choices.
