The displacement of diesel engines applied to medium-class SUVs has been from 2.0 L to 2.3L because the engines need high-torque and high-power to drive the heavy-weight body. However, the fuel economy of SUV has to be significantly improved to avoid global warming and to save fossil fuel. Furthermore, its emission performance also should be improved to meet Euro 6.

The Computer and Internet, as a core technology of third-generation of industrial revolution, are now creating a new society with Cyber Physical System (CPS) under IIoT environments. The infinite spiral of “Cultural Society” and “Technology Innovation”, then, the next step of “Computer and Internet Society” especially IIoT in the Manufacturing world will be shown. Then, strategic approach of “Industry 4.0/Smart Manufacturing”, the forth-generation of industrial revolution will be introduced. This strategic approach is aiming for the creation of new business model for realizing “Smarter Manufacturing Society” in future. There are several discussions for enabling future smarter manufacturing society in IEC TC65 measurement, control and automation and IEC SMB SG8: Industry 4.0/Smart Manufacturing.

This paper presents an adaptive intelligent steering controller using backstepping sliding-mode control and recurrent wavelet fuzzy cerebellar model articulation controller (RWFCMAC) and for an uncertain ball-riding human transporter in presence of significant system uncertainties. The proposed controller operates at two independent modes: self-balancing and station keeping. The self-balancing mode is used to balance by following the rider's two-dimensional inclination angles, while the station-keeping mode is aimed to permit the rider to keep the vehicle at a target position. The RWFCMAC is designed to online learn the uncertainties caused by riders' weights and different parameters. The superior performance and merit of the proposed control methods are well exemplified by conducting two simulations.

The inflection point (POI) of the HTFP melting curve has been mainly applied as a reference point in comparisons of local temperature scales. It has also been proposed to serve as a lower limit to be set to the liquidus temperature. In this paper, we confine ourselves to the determination of the inflection points by a statistical method for the Co-C involved in InK-WP1. Details of the metod will be introduced in this paper.

Due to the fact that the business process consists of a complex structure optimization of work processes or input works at the level of holistic business process does not give the absolute optimum. Therefore, the problem of optimal organization performance of input tasks on a given structure (scheme) business process performance is achieved at two levels. On the upper level optimization problem is solved assignments at the level of the business process as a whole, on the lower level optimization problem assignments on fragments of the business process is solved.

Video viewing with smartphones has health problems for children. In addition, rulemaking tendency for a use of smartphones is weaker than television in Japn. In this study, we propose a system to support voluntary stops of children in a video viewing context for video viewing problem of children. One of unique approach is to implement "once more" function for encouraging voluntarily stops of children. The child has interested in the video contents during a certain time. The parent preferred to use our system because the system provides the snapshot of playing videos to the parents and limit the contents and the viewing time for children. We continue to improve on our system with user's feedback, and plan to conduct evaluation experiment of the system again.

In this paper, we derive a dynamical model for a manta robot by taking account of a pectoral-fin propulsion mechanism. Especially, the model is derived by considering the force generated from such a specialized propulsion mechanism, together with estimating added masses and moment due to a cubic body form used in this research. The effectiveness of the dynamical model is verified by comparing the simulation results based on the model with the measurement values using an actual robot.

Recently, many researchers have been studying the Brain Computer Interface (BCI). As one of them, there are some methods for extracting the ERD and ERS from EEG during motor imagery and discriminating the motor of right and left hand using them. Currently, however, these methods enable us to discriminate among a few classes, such as the left and right hand only or the right hand and leg only. Furthermore, they require a long-term training to improve the discrimination rate. In this paper, we construct a system for discriminating motor imaged limbs using Movement-Related Cortical Potential(MRCP), such as BereitschaftsPotential(BP), Negative Slope(NS) and Contingent Negative Variation(CNV), in which it does not require a long-term training.

Dual-wavelength reflectance-ratio (DWR) technique is extended to thermal imaging. Compared to the spot DWR, signals from two-dimensionally arrayed detectors need a lot of calculation processing, but the method makes it easy to understand actual temperature distribution and has widely applicable fields. In this presentation, principle of DWR, measurement setup and results are shown.
