Objective: This work analyzes the transformations of formal and informal care in rural territories in Spain and Chile. Method: We describe the results of two qualitative studies that carried out interviews in two rural areas. The interviews addressed the characteristics of the formal and informal care received by older adults. The data is discussed in the light of research on care crises, the support generation and older caregiver women, from the perspective of rural territories. Results: on one hand, identify the presence of male caregivers, the extended family, and neighborhood-community networks in the provision of informal care. We discuss the need to consider the socio-cultural particularities of rural territories in the design of formal care services. We recommend the strengthening of ties of such services with family groups and local communities.

Taking as a starting point my personal and professional experience, within the framework of writing and the autoethnographic analysis that I have developed, as the object of study for my doctoral thesis. I have compiled some relevant lived situations that have been there. Some of them, obvious and others hidden in time, that have allowed me to now free myself to question myself as a man, a professional and as a father, thus becoming the root of a part of my doctoral thesis work. Training and dedicating myself as a neonatal nurse, in addition to the experience of being the father of a child with Down Syndrome, has enabled me to provide support to families of newborns diagnosed with Down Syndrome, through my own experience. In this narration I show the possible interactions that can arise between a family and health professionals in a difficult situation.

Burnout is a risk factor and, therefore, the vulnerability of professionals nowadays due to the pandemic, can increase said risk, seriously affecting their health.
